Hello. I have recently had an e-book published (traditional publisher) and it is available on Amazon for kindles.
I wrote it to cheer myself up after a grim few years trying to look after parents and friends in their nineties and either ill or with dementia.
I am donating the first year of royalties to Age Uk so if you want something silly for Christmas please have a look!
My book of Fairy Tales for the mature (black humour) is up on Amazon published by Ecanus books. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Broomsticks-Walking-Sticks-Zimmer-ebook/dp/B00A93ZK9E/ref=sr_1_26?ie=UTF8&qid=1353248657&sr=8-26

Fairy Tales for the Mature. 'Why is it always the young and glamorous - the beautiful princesses and handsome princes - who dominate fairy tales? These fun, adult, fairy tales are written from the viewpoint of the older characters, for example Red Riding Hoods grandma, the matron of Rapunzel's boarding school and the witch in Hansel and Gretel.
Hope this link works. I'm a bit incompetent.

Fantastic annodomini!

People cross the street now when they see me coming with a hopeful look on my face! grin

gracesmum Mon 28-Jan-13 21:05:47

I have just downloaded it as I am desperately in need of an intelligent read - too much of the ramifications of " ladies-only exercise classes" is making my brain atrophy - so bring it on!

broomsticks, have you thought of getting your local newspaper to do a feature on you? Ours publicises much lesser works than yours. You could do a press release for local papers and radio stations. You could be a celebrity.

broomsticks Mon 28-Jan-13 22:45:33

The local paper did, bless them. They even looked up all the reviews and quoted nice bits.
It was a bit embarrassing in a small place. blush

In that case, follow up and tell them when the paperback comes out - if there's a local bookshop, perhaps they could put on a window display.

Yep, good idea! Maybe even the Waterstone in our nearest big town.

Age Uk will be able to buy a cup of tea for at least 6 people grin

broomsticks Tue 05-Feb-13 19:36:39

I wish someone would buy the damn thing. It's not doing well this week. They might change their minds about the paperback. sad grin

JessM Tue 05-Feb-13 20:04:10

It is rather good broomsticks - in fact definitely worth a second read.
But I know the feeling. I need to do more marketing ...

Galen Tue 05-Feb-13 20:34:39

Right I've bought it! Will read it in between cases at work!

JessM Tue 05-Feb-13 21:30:06

Perfect G for a little light relief.

Galen Tue 05-Feb-13 21:36:19

Sounds just what the doctor ordered for between cases then grin
Will it wean me away from GN though?confused

broomsticks Wed 06-Feb-13 10:50:23

Ooh, thank you, Galen and Jess and thank you Gracesmum too, I didn't see that. Once I get my little paperback I'll be happy and Age Uk get the royalties from that too.
What do you think of the cover? People say it looks like a naked bottom. Sigh.

broomsticks Sat 09-Feb-13 16:15:05

Just been going through the stories ready for the paperback and found about ten typos and punctuation things. I can't believe it. Sorry, to everyone who has bought it. Hope you didn't notice. grin

broomsticks Fri 22-Feb-13 11:06:07

Still waiting for paperback news. Did well last week (while I was away) but haven't sold any kindle books this weeks. Hope they don't change their minds.
Once the paperback arrives I'll relax and shut up about it grin

Exciting week. Sample chapters of Broomsticks are number one book on Authonomy. Also paperback coming out this week if the editor is satisfied with it.
I'm all of a tizzy.

Finally Broomsticks is a paperback!
Just had my first royalties statement for the e-book so far.
I've made a whole £18 for Age Uk. Perhaps I should have just held a coffee morning hmm

MiceElf Thu 04-Apr-13 14:50:09

Just put it on my Kindle. I'll comment after I've read it!

annodomini Thu 04-Apr-13 16:25:40

Well done, Broomsticks - it's a start. Your book will stand the test of time. flowers

MiceElf Thu 04-Apr-13 17:24:56

Read it straight through this afternoon as the snowflakes fall.

What an ingenious idea. And I love the way you have found an individual voice for each of the characters.

I particularly like the Goat. Couldn't possibly have been inspired by some of the contributions on this forum, surely. grin

broomsticks Thu 04-Apr-13 17:27:25

Thanks!
And MiceElf, I wrote the Goat before joining Gransnet. Honest, I did. grin

j08 Thu 04-Apr-13 17:32:46

Hello Broomsticks smile

Butty Thu 04-Apr-13 17:35:46

Congratulations broomsticks! flowers

broomsticks Sat 06-Apr-13 10:58:14

Thank you. I still haven't seen the thing. They are taking ages to deliver. Someone wanted it for a mother's day present. It might be a Christmas present at this rate. Oh well! smile

broomsticks Tue 23-Apr-13 14:38:08

Ooh, I got interviewed. (only on a blog) winkhttp://susansbooks37.wordpress.com/

Giving away two free copies of Broomsticks on Goodreads, and trying to get my head round mysteries like virtual book tours. What in the world is one of those? confused
