but always wear old t-shirts, baggy leggings, vests etc. - basically any old thing that has seen better days! What do you wear between the sheets???

bagitha Wed 18-Jan-12 17:24:51

huge long-sleeved T-shirts and baggy (who me?) old soft cotton trousers. Last winter I also wore a cashmere jumper during the freeze, and socks, and sometimes ankle warnmers as well plus, occasionally, wrists warmers!!!!! It hasn't been that cold this winter, thankfully, so just the tee and the old cotton joggers.

I have a very posh dressing gown though grin.

Bedsocks - and whatever nightie comes out of the drawer first.

Learnergrandma Wed 18-Jan-12 17:32:14

Anything big and loose and comfy. Have recently discovered something I think is called modal, which makes fabric soft and stretchy. And bedsocks. Always bedsocks.

glammanana Wed 18-Jan-12 17:33:07

I love my pj's and have quite a few pair's I always seem to go for the same colours pinks and pale blue's,I have a few dressing gowns that are fleecy my DS1s partner always buy's them for me for xmas and birthdays,I also have a black and white spotted dressing gown that I bought about 10yrs ago when primark first opened in our area it is trimmed with red and has a hood DCs said it makes me look like Cruella Daville,it was the first thing I unpacked when we moved back to UK 3yrs ago.

Nothing - absolutely starkers unless it's particularly chilly when I don a pair of Qantas tracksuit type pj's but they're usually off by the morning - too uncomfortable. Occasionally I wear socks until my feet warm up - heavens what a sight that must be grin

Carol Wed 18-Jan-12 17:45:28

Baggy tee-shirt type nighties, as plain as possible, don't do pink. Must get some more, actually - I keep forgetting to stock up.

Gally Wed 18-Jan-12 17:54:56

Baggy good to see you are keeping up standards with the dressing gown grin

susiecb Wed 18-Jan-12 18:20:43

I love a nice white linen nightie and get these localy but Bonsoir and David Nieper have lovely things. The White Company have some lovely pjs but are pricey. In my experience a warm bath and nice sleep clothes add to a better nights rest.

Ariadne Wed 18-Jan-12 18:27:26

Nothing. smile

jeni Wed 18-Jan-12 18:30:44

Nice satin nightdresses, satin only because I find it easier to turn over in bed in it!

nanachrissy Wed 18-Jan-12 18:49:55

Same as Carol, but when I get up it's a big fluffy d/gown.

Butternut Wed 18-Jan-12 18:51:09

I am getting some grand ideas!

Ariadne - cost cutting smile

bagitha - Cashmere? (envy)

jeni - satin - smooth.....

Like all the posh dressing gowns. Think I'd prefer one of those to new pj's!

susiecb - white is cool wink

carol - girl after my own heart smile

gally - only socks, eh? blush

Annobel - socks and nighty - very warm grin

*learnergranma] - bedsocks are go...

glammanana - clearly dressin' for bed....grin

jeni Wed 18-Jan-12 18:55:55

My dressing gown is terry towelling! Practical as its difficult to dry myself with arthritis. So I just shower, put on late dh's dressing gown and get back onto bed for 10mins[smile

Butternut Wed 18-Jan-12 18:58:56

Very comforting, jeni, in more ways than one I'm sure. smile

gracesmum Wed 18-Jan-12 19:36:03

I would love to say Chanel No 5 but I'd be lying! Fleecy PJ bottoms and a t shirt type top. On Monday night I was so cold I found a white fleece and put it on in the middle of the night and DH was quite surprised when he woke up and saw me in it. My excuse was that the dog had me up 3 times to let her out!

apricot Wed 18-Jan-12 20:14:12

Nothing? or baggy old t shirt? What if there's a fire in the night? The hunky firemen and all the neighbours are going to see you!
I have a very thick warm dressing gown which has saved a fortune in gas, I don't need the heat on when I get up unless it's snowing. I get dressed an hour later.
Always warm in bed with 2 furry little dogs.

Annika Wed 18-Jan-12 20:24:53

I put pjs on the other night as it was cold and what a night that turned out to be !!!!!!!!! I didn't get a wink of sleep, I felt as if the duvet was glued to my pjs. Back to what I would usually wear ....a smile !!!!!!!!!!
I

gracesmum Wed 18-Jan-12 20:35:40

I am reminded of Tottering-By-Gently and "Feeling cold dear? Throw another dog on the bed"!!

grannyactivist Wed 18-Jan-12 21:11:12

Get really naffed off by PJ's with cutesie/sexy/glittery stuff on the front. Also, my other big moan is why do shops sell low necked PJ's for winter wear? I've just bought a cotton pair with soft flannel leggings and a T-shirt style top. In red. Dressing gown is hooded M&S velour one in grey/white stripes with a zip which I never undo fully - just step into and out of.

Annika Wed 18-Jan-12 21:16:44

Has any one seen those `babygrow` type suits for adults.
My first encounter with them was when I was shopping in Cardiff with DD. They were hanging on display in Peacocks (now in money trouble) , they looked rather odd to say the least !hmm

bagitha Wed 18-Jan-12 21:24:37

Also a cashmere snood over my head when it was really cold last winter. I'm only telling this to make butty even envy-er.

Carol Wed 18-Jan-12 21:37:39

Are they calles 'onesies' Annika? I have seen a friend of my daughter's in an animal print one, dropping her children off at school - she drove there! She looked like an overgrown toddler!

Annika Wed 18-Jan-12 21:40:51

bagitha grin
butternut I have a lovely M and S dressing gown, oh and mustn't forget my very thick one I had free from Nescafe coffee. The down side with that was that I had to collect lots of tokens off lots of Nescafe coffee jars so I drank lots of coffee and we all know what that = no sleep !

Annika Wed 18-Jan-12 21:44:28

I have seen mums in our local shop in their Pjs after dropping off the children to school, they don't seem to be to worried that they hadn't bothered to dress !
