Yesterday DGS fell in a pond (and guess who was looking after him)

I fished him out really quickly, and he was very pleased with himself aferwards. smile Took great delight in showing his soaking wet self to his mum and bro. He was sailing his remote control boat we gave him for Xmas. DH had told him not to stand on that bit, but I thought it was fine. And he did say he always stands there. hmm DH had to go in and retrieve the controller.

I didn't know I could move that fast! It was a fantastic rescue! sunshine

What is it about kids (especially boys) and water? One of mine, as a small toddler, suddenly threw himself into a stream for no apparent reason except that it seemed like a good idea at the time!

Annobel Mon 02-Apr-12 13:08:21

PS - the said toddler is now a fanatical swimmer (a mile every morning), approaching 41.

Well done, jings! They do have a built in fatal attraction to water, don't they? As soon as she could crawl, if I put DD3 down in the garden she would make a beeline for the pond. We fenced it in.

Notsogrand Mon 02-Apr-12 13:24:11

Good for you jings!

Well done jingl boys are little tinkers aren't they.
When my DS was two we were on holiday in Bridlington, he was sitting on a wooden post but as a big wave came in he launched himself into the sea. Need eyes in the back of the head.

When my friend took her well-behaved older son, her younger one-year-old son who hadn't started walking and absentdaughter, also one, to the park, she unstrapped the two littles from the double buggy and absentdaughter simply streaked accoss the entire length of the park, hurtled into the scented garden and jumped straight in the pond. My poor friend had to strap little one back in the buggy and charge after her with the older boy breathlessly hanging on to the handle of the buggy. Absentdaughter was also the one who fell into her Christmas tree and emerged full of prickles.

You can never tell what they are going to do next, Well done with your rescue jingl.

My poor little dgd is very unhappy. She has caught chicken pox and at 9/12 old doesn't know what's hit her!
Offered to go up to help but I still have this cold and cough, so dd thought better not!
I'm feeling for her and feel so helpless sad

Annobel Fri 06-Apr-12 16:24:51

Oh, poor baby. They find it hard to cope with chickenpox at any age, but much more so when they can't express themselves verbally. With any luck it won't last too long. flowers

nanachrissy Fri 06-Apr-12 17:01:36

What a shame, poor little thing. I hate to see babies feeling unwell (((hugs))) to both of you.

jeni Fri 06-Apr-12 17:05:21

Thankyou?

jeni Fri 06-Apr-12 17:06:11

Did NOT mean ? Meant. . !

supernana Fri 06-Apr-12 17:38:58

Good for you, jingle. You do what you have to do...no matter the risk.
Our wee grandson started swimming lessons at 2 months. He now has his sygnets certificate, swims underwater and can do a mean crawl.
