that today is Global Counter Culture day.

Apparently you should do something, well, counter to the usual.

The vicar on the radio suggested being nice to someone who doesn't like you much.

Hello Greatnan. I really love you. smile xxx

iamjingl Fri 20-Apr-12 09:34:24

Obligatory grin

syberia Fri 20-Apr-12 09:37:45

iamjingl I love how you always make me laugh grin

kittylester Fri 20-Apr-12 09:43:27

iamjingl are you sure that was counter to the usual? grin

nuttynana Fri 20-Apr-12 12:45:00

IAMJINGL We haven't met but

"You are awful but I like you!"

SOOP Fri 20-Apr-12 13:32:43

Greatnan wink

jeni Fri 20-Apr-12 13:38:26

jing you are obviously very polite to all!

Is that counter enough?

SOOP Fri 20-Apr-12 13:44:22

I like to think that I'm not easily ruffled. Before the day is through, I may lose my cool...is that counter wotsit or not? confused

bagitha Fri 20-Apr-12 14:00:05

soop, same thoughts here!

The radio message is allright. The way it has been used is nauseating.
Refrained from saying that till now but I think it needs saying. sad

jeni Fri 20-Apr-12 14:17:12

SOOP. What has ruffled you? You don't normally ruffle, more like genteelly pleated! What have I missed? ( [nosey]emoticon)

SOOP Fri 20-Apr-12 16:24:54

bags knows! and jeni I shall remain "unpleated" [for the time being] smile

Ariadne Fri 20-Apr-12 19:35:30

Don't be too unpleated, SOOP. Not worth it!

Anne58 Fri 20-Apr-12 20:42:00

OK, I might, just might, accept jingl as someone who's posts are valid. On occasion.

granbunny Fri 20-Apr-12 21:46:50

'who's posts are valid'.

great.

Anagram Fri 20-Apr-12 21:50:23

Now, now, granbunny! That's my job.... wink

gracesmum Fri 20-Apr-12 22:09:21

I thought "Counter culture" meant going shopping sad

bagitha Sat 21-Apr-12 06:44:21

gracesmum, I like it! grin

imjingl Sat 21-Apr-12 09:14:53

Wow phoenix. Get over yerself!! hmm grin

Can I just say that the original post was only ever meant as a mild and harmless joke. Nothing nasty was said, and I think that Greatnan is big enough (character-wise!) not to really take any offence. Disappointing if I'm wrong, but there you go.

Gracesmum that joke was, in fact, made by the vicar on the radio (on who/whom, btw, I place all the blame for this little uproar. Christians eh? wink)

imjingl Sat 21-Apr-12 09:15:36

there are two s's in dissappointing (i think)

Gally Sat 21-Apr-12 09:28:06

disappointing - no Jingl definitely only one S

imjingl Sat 21-Apr-12 09:48:49

ta Gally hmm (that's not old age creeping on. I never got it right!) grin

petallus Sat 21-Apr-12 10:11:48

The original post seemed exactly like a joke to me, but with a bit of a sting in it's tale?

bagitha Sat 21-Apr-12 10:15:19

It's the waspishness that I object to. I saw the funny side too.

Anagram Sat 21-Apr-12 11:16:02

I really don't see why people are getting so het up about this. It's not as though the Vicar suggested being nice to someone you don't like much, which would put a whole new complexion on imjingl's post.

petallus Sat 21-Apr-12 11:17:01

The sting, in my opinion, was that imjingl feels that there is a poster who doesn't like her much and she was prepared to mention it and then send love.
