What is every one planning to do this soggy Bank Holiday? There is no question that there will be no BBQs and not much gardening happening. I am happily resigned to the fact that I will be firmly planted on the sofa, knitting and watching TV. Actually am feeling quite bleurgh at the moment, so sounds great to me ;0

Well so far , I've got up, showered, dressed, got white wash on the line, coloureds onthe machine, started the dishwasher, sorted first pile of files to read, made a coffee and sat down to check you all got home ok last night!
Later I've got to make the tomato sauce for the aubergine dishfortomorrow (next door angel coming to dinner while old git is away)
Don't you love Sundays?" A day of rest?"confused

tanith Sun 06-May-12 12:27:08

Well its lunchtime , its overcast and cold, I've changed the bed and made a chocolate fudge cake , watched two RAF Typhoon planes take off very noisily from where they are now stationed closeby, that certainly will of got everyone having a lie in annoyed this morning lol.
Hubs is out playing bowls so I guess I'll get dinner (roast lamb) on for about 4PM.. thought we'd lash out this week with the lamb, I saw a nice Rib of beef , not that big but at £21.21p I passed on that .. no wonder people are giving up cooking a Sunday roast.

I guess I'll go read a while then put some fudgy topping on the cake.. I was rather hoping my daughter would pop in so I can give her half the cake , stop me gorging...

Jeni, this is of your own making, today could me a day of rest if you wished - leave it all until tomorrow. !!!

Only joking, before I get trounced by the ladies.

We are having such a quiet weekend looking after our Grandson, bed at 9pm last night - knackered - us, not him.

pompa Sun 06-May-12 12:45:59

WOOT Mafeking has been relieved, our Daughter has returned.

jeni Sun 06-May-12 13:09:44

Last wash in washer, files read, can't face making sauce yet( it's chopping those onions and garlic! Yes I could go down to waitrose and get ready chopped, but that means getting the car out, getting the scooter unloaded going round the shop, reloading the scooter, driving home, unloading the car,and I'm too lazy) its easier to chop the onions!

whenim64 Sun 06-May-12 13:25:19

So far I've walked the dog, cleaned the cooker, made some vegetable soup, made a granary loaf, put the washing on, caught up on emails and Gransnet, changed the bed and now I'm going to get in the shower and enjoy myself for the rest of the afternoon.

By the way - Oven Pride oven cleaner with the gloves and big bag - what a doddle! It says only put two racks in the bag, but I've got a big range cooker with 8 or 9 racks - I put the lot in, left them for 4 hours, and they're all like brand new with no effort at all.

ninathenana Sun 06-May-12 13:45:53

DD also swears by Oven Pride when she also told me to soak the black metal parts from the top of cooker in washing powder. Not tried this yet.

DH and I got up late (9am) he cooked kippers for breakfast, then we read the Sunday papers, now here smile

Weather in Kent not too bad cool n grey yesterday and today. We haven't any plans for tomorrow.

Got up and watched Andrew Marr, shouted at George Osborne; talked to both sisters on phone; showered; went to Dunelm for clothes hangers (good value); Boots to stock up on shampoos etc - lots of useful offers; finished at Waitrose where I forgot to buy broccoli! Lunched on hummus and crackers. Not wet here, and not specially cold, rather dull, having started bright. Now listening to Gardeners Question Time.

jeni Sun 06-May-12 14:21:54

I'm doing something I never do
Having a glass of wine out on my patio under my (sprouting) grapevine, in the SUN!
Well I say never, Normamally only on holiday as per my profile photo!

Annobel Sun 06-May-12 14:30:18

Cheers, jeni wine

Lazy day, walked dogs and now it's cool and wet in Norfolk.
Read the papers, glass of wine and trying to catch up with last night's 'The Bridge'. Very compelling and tonight it's the last episode of 'Homeland' which if you have been watching is also highly addictive!
Ther is so much more I could do but hey, there's always tomorrow....

gma Sun 06-May-12 16:01:46

After bright and early start, turned a bit cloudy. Hub went for a sail with son and grandson No.3 on the Norfolk Broads (only 10minutes away from us-we are very fortunate and have own boats) They came in about 2pm, starting to rain. I had busy morning cooking lunch, picked rhubarb from garden and made crumble. Flashed round with vacuum, and just had lunch. Also went to garden centre with daughter and grandson No.2 - sent her home with cakes etc which I also made this morning! (I love making them but we do not eat too many) Now going to start on new Jo Nesbo on my kindle whilst hub watches Man U on Sky, but he will probably fall asleep after a couple of glasses of Chilean Red!!!
Perhaps it will improve tomorrow....or maybe not!!!

whitewave Sun 06-May-12 16:12:41

Got up watched Andrew Marr and sneered at George Osbourne DH took dog out with singed btm the dog not DH. (another story) Put washing on, prepared lunch - roast chicken and sponge pudding - no wonder I am 13stone! made some bread had lunch - dithered about hanging out the washing - it is cold damp and miserable here - so going to leave it until tomorrow now about to order DD's birthday present and then slob the rest of the day - will watch Homeland the last one tonight.

Ian42 Sun 06-May-12 18:49:09

Please remember me as I work tomorrow.

dahlia Sun 06-May-12 20:27:58

Poor Ian42! Bank holidays mean less now we are retired. Husband is building an extension to our very small house (he was a builder), but stops for the weekends. We have managed to get quite a lot done in the garden this weekend, apple blossom looking lovely, but if it is wet tomorrow may go shopping/visit son and family/make pasties - not necessarily in that order! Have a good one, whatever you may be doing.

netgran Mon 07-May-12 13:51:15

Happy wet bank holiday Monday (well here in Hertford anyway) hubby and me are sat in caravan in sodden field eating beans on toast. We know how to live it up grin

netgran Mon 07-May-12 13:58:12

Whitewave
What did you think of last episode of Homeland?

whitewave Mon 07-May-12 14:05:12

Netgran

Thought the acting superb, she is good and I always watch what Damien thingy is in - Band of Brothers was one thing and a Poliokoff (can't spell) play he was in was good. The ending was sort of unexpected although I knew that there are plans for another series, but he could presumably have been written out. It did leave questions unsolved . I guess the electric shock theropy will wipe Carrie's memory of what Brody said in his sleep? And therefore her knowledge that he is a sleeper? Good isn't it?

nanachrissy Mon 07-May-12 14:07:37

Having taken my eleventh migraine tablet in eleven days, I am in a sorry state! Feeling very dithery and a tad weepy, so lurking on the sofa while catching up on 3 days of Gnet.
All self inflicted, as last week I got a bit out of control and giddy! After dad's funeral and making up with dd, I was so relieved it was all over and just went mad, eating and drinking the wrong things and making head worse by the minute!
Now it's payback time blush
Ah well, I'm only human!

whitewave Mon 07-May-12 14:10:09

netgran

I also meant to say that we used to have a caravan - gave up due to DH's back - but I so loved it and miss it very much DD is going to look at a potential replacement for hers this afternnon before dropping in with DGS's - they want to look at the go-cart Grandad is making them - we are having terrible trouble finding wheels!

Anagram Mon 07-May-12 14:14:56

Poor you, nanachrissy! Take if easy - hope you feel better soon smile

whitewave Mon 07-May-12 14:19:58

nanachrissy

not surprised at how you are feeling - you seem to have had a lot to deal with lately? Still DD on side now must be good. Be kind to yourself for a few days and hopefully you will recover.

nanachrissy Mon 07-May-12 14:42:23

Thank you Anagram and whitewave, I do feel a little lost now and then but I've got good friends and family who keep checking up on me!
It is nice not to have to do anything, and I'm sure I'll soon get back in the swing of things! smile

Annobel Mon 07-May-12 14:48:51

I'm not surprised that you just let go after all the stress you've been under, chrissy. You must be feeling pretty awful at the moment, so please treat yourself kindly and take your time getting back into the swing - it can wait for you. flowers
