Did anyone else notice the Queen when walking down the nave before the service swerved slightly to her right as if the Duke were with her, and then realising and going back to the middle again?

I've just seen a photograph of the Queen with someone standing behind her, but it took me quite a while to decide whether the partly concealed face belonged to the Duke of Edinburgh or the Prince of Wales. It was really difficult to tell and it was only recognising the Queen's outfit from yesterday that confirmed that it was her son (in his sixties), not her husband (in his nineties). I hope I'm not that easily confused with my mum although she was a very good looking woman.

I've been banging on about toilet needs for some years now. 'Holding on' is certainly a possible cause of urinary infection as is not drinking sufficiently in case one needs the loo. A young woman in one of the many boats at the Pageant was interviewed at the end of the day and said that she'd not drunk or eaten anything since 0730 that morning to avoid needing the toilet. That is unhealthy - but understandable in the circumstances because the need to go to the toilet is way down the list when it comes to planning - and many of the planners are men!!!

He probably already had a bit of a low level infection and his waterworks happen to be where his weakness is.

I doubt if it was anything to do with not going to the loo. They would have had one available downstairs in the boat.

Is it me or are we privvy to too much detail Is the man not entitled to some privacy about his nether regions. Why couldnt the news just say an infection we dont need to know the detail.

I expect any health statement from the 'palace' is agreed.. don't think Phil will care about what we know!

Speculation about the size of the Duke's prostate is a step to far, I think.

At his age he would be doing well to have a "normal" prostate! The prostate glands of 90 year old men are mainly in the "best not to go there" category.

I have no intention of going there [yuk emoticon] JessM but apparently there was speculation and general chat from urologists in newspapers. You'd think they'd have something more important to print.

I think we learn something from such discussions absentgrana. Princess Eugenie was on the news this morning talking about her scoliosis [not sure about the spelling!] and the fact she has rods in her back and that she is doing a bike ride to raise awareness of the condition.

goldengirl I think there is a difference between someone choosing to talk about a particular condition of which they have first-hand experience and out-of-thin-air speculation about someone's else's putative condition by non-health professionals (i.e. journalists).

Somehow I can't imagine HRH talking about his waterworks personally - or any other aspect of his health - but if the reports bring the matter into the public domain and people become more aware of possible preventative methods etc then it is not just prurient chatter. Having a public figure going through a health issue can be publicly useful albeit personally intrusive.
