Just posted on "Today I've been mainly..." am just back from the Olympics and it was a tremendous experience! My feet hurt...

Tom Daly and Pete Waterfield were brilliant in their first 3 dives. Number 4 wasn`t good, and it probably put them off, because3 5 wasn`t a lot better, but 6 was good, regretfully not quite good enough. Fingers crossed for the individuals next week.

number It must take a huge amount of nerve to execute even the so-called 'simple' dives. I hope that Tom succeeds in the individual competition.

So thrilled for the gymnasts. Unexpected bronze medal and they thoroughly deserved it - some immaculate performances. And they beat the Russians and the Americans. Fantastic!

So heartbreaking to have the silver taken away. They must be gutted

I don't think that any mother of a son would have watched that South African lad on the podium and not shed tears. I blubbing away.

Well - I'm wrong again (about the whooping spectators at the equestrian cross-country). The riders said that all the shouting encouraged them. Well done the team for getting the silver medal.

I watched a bit of water polo on the off-chance of catching a glimpse of DS among the spectators but he was right at the back and says he got a very good view. Not much of a spectator sport unless you know what's going on - and a very energy-sapping game which involves much treading of water as well as racing opponents to the ball and lifting oneself high enough to throw the thing. I have a new respect for DS who is an enthusiast.

I spoke to someone who was there yesterday and they said the atmosphere is incredible. Lots of the competitors just walking amongst the crowds and signing autographs.

This morning we have a chance of a Gold in women's rowing 10.10
Followed by a men's rowing event at 10.30

And GO the cyclists. Strange event as they are racing against clock. But worth watching.

I've been thinking about how someone mentioned that they thought sport was a somewhat selfish pastime [it wasn't said like that and I apologise for misquoting] and, in some ways I'd have to agree. But then I think it reaches another level and it beomes more than a personal quest for glory because the weight of the hopes and expectations of so many people rest on your shoulders and make it even harder; it's as if it takes on a life of it's own. The relief of achieving that, not just for yourself but for everyone else must be immense [I hope I'm making some sort of sense here; I know what I mean .

Suddenly the commentary disappears - either because there is main coverage somewhere else, or because the commentators are off having a break. A bit of signposting might help - but perhaps I am not paying enough attention to catch on?

I was a wreck when the cross country was on because I thought I'd rushed back from work only to find it wasn't on terrestrial telly. Then there seems to be a bit of a delay when I try to switch from the red button. I've been given a link to watch it on the computer but haven't tried it yet. By the time the Games have finished I might have sorted it all out!

I actually watched this one. Great!

A Bronze is nothing to be ashamed of - well done guys. Once the shouting is over you will be proud of what you achieved today. You forced Germany to win - you didn't lose!
