Apart from choosing a new name, I've been slathering Germolene on insect bites - how lovely is that? My new name doesn't make one think of Germolene and insect bites! It's the time of year for these and I'm covered in large itchy bumps...grin

Good! I'm glad!

Greatnan Wed 22-Aug-12 17:59:19

Fingers crossed, Glitabo. You are in the home stretch now!

I have had a most productive afternoon - turned out every cupboard and reorganised everything. Threw away three bags of clothes that I will never wear again - I will not allow myself to go back up to size 18 because it is bad for my knees and my bp. Discovered at least 20 books which need reading or re-reading when I have finished with TV/surfing and you are all quiet.

Very pleased for you Giltabo All good wishes.

Greatnan Super star, that's what you are smile I've also made myself hot and bothered - turned kitchen cupboards inside out and wiped all shelves with Detox...all clean and smelling fresh. Then I rootled through the airing cupboard and re-organised the contents. Feel chuffed. smile

It's a good feeling, isn't it? Of course, most days I have about 20 minutes of housework to do - I just don't have enough possessions to make my flat untidy.

NfkDumpling Wed 22-Aug-12 19:45:45

Fingers crossed glitabo. flowers

I took two big bags of unwanted clothes to the charity shops last week and I still have no room in my wardrobe, or in the spare room wardrobe. DS and DiL threatened to do a 'life laundry' exercise on me, but I found other things for them to do. grin

Collected new glasses from optician, DH's suit from TM Lewin, some new underwear and Jimmy Choo perfume for me from John Lewis (because I'm worth it) and made myself a sort of fascinator thingy out of 3 dusky pink fabric peonies also from JL. Hemmed silk trousers - bunting is done - I think I'm finished! Oh I'd like any eybrow tint and tidy up tomorrow (see previous thread on non-existent eyeborows as we get older) and we're good to go!
Doing that hing of waking up at 5 wondering what could go wrong! AS long as DH's health holds out we should be OK............[fingers crossed] emoticon

Glad to hear you're good to go grace - and fingers crossed, too.

gracesmum Thu 23-Aug-12 09:39:40

Maybe the new glasses aren't doing the business - I meant thing of course smile

Greatnan Thu 23-Aug-12 09:47:56

NOTHING WILL GO WRONG. It will be a lovely wedding and you will relax and enjoy it. That is an order!

Ella46 Thu 23-Aug-12 09:51:52

gracesmum It's time to relax and enjoy the moment/day/experience!
Have a wonderful time sunshine

Gally Thu 23-Aug-12 10:34:45

Have a wonderful day gracesmum. Everything will be wonderful but remember to relax, take time and take it all in - it will all be over in a flash grin.
Today has been a very hot sultry day, ending in a tremendous tropical type storm; more trees down and one just missed DD3's friend's Mum as she walked into school this afternoon. I went to a special assembly to see the 6 year old presented with a Silver Award. 'What's that for Barnaby?' Big sigh - 'I dunno'. So it could be for good behaviour, top in maths or for cleaning the classroom -I dunno either wink. Have been trying to pacify the baby all afternoon - maybe the heat and the storm have disturbed her. Yesterday we went to get some medication to help her gripes only to be told by the pharmacist to give a teaspoon of brown sugar in water - reader, it did the trick - a huge explosion followed within the hour; Hurrah. Maybe that's where the 'teaspoon of sugar helps the medicine go down' from way back comes from?

I have just received my new washing machine. After hours of ploughing through the blurb of various machines and various stores and web sites, I eventually chose one and an excellent web site delivered it and plugged it in.
I was sad to see my old one go as it was a top loader but that particular kind isn't made any more sad.
I would say who I got the machine from but not sure if that is considered advertising.
Gracesmum, have a great day and remember to relax and take it all in.

Greatnan Thu 23-Aug-12 10:56:25

Gally, one of my gd got a prize for being the friendliest girl in the class!

Grannylin Thu 23-Aug-12 11:18:44

Feeling a bit embarrassed today.Went to the dentist for a check up yesterday and was ready to start glowing with pride as he tapped and scraped every tooth and found nothing when he told me to open my mouth wider as he had something to show me.He put his mirror in my mouth and shone the lamp on a small, round red patch on the roof of my mouth. He then told me to keep a eye on it for 2weeks and if necessary he would refer me ASAP to the hospital to get it checked. He said he didn't want to mention the Cword but dentists had to take to all precautions and he would phone me to check..Aaah!I drove home feeling very anxious and decided to tell no- one and be brave etc.etc.However, I racked my brains to think if I had been ignoring this sore, red thing recently but then had a lightbulb moment and remembered that the night before I had secretly eaten a giant bag of Maltesers and sucked so many that I went to bed with a sore mouth! Its a lot better today- should I tell him!!

gracesmum Thu 23-Aug-12 11:47:11

hmm To own up or not? Good your dentist is on the ball though! A good friend had cancer of the gum diagnosed a few years ago due to a vigilant hygienist. It has been successfully treated - long process involving jaw surgery and implants but if she hadn't gone for her hygienist treatment it would have been at least 6 months down the line before it was spotted.

Greatnan Thu 23-Aug-12 12:44:43

My dd was very worried in the same way, but it turned out to be 'just' an ulcer which cleared up without treatment. Better to be sure, though.

soop Thu 23-Aug-12 13:20:56

Grannylin Hooray for the lightbulb moment. smile

Greatnan An award for friendliness, is something to be truly proud of. Well done to your granddaughter. flag
