Today I've been.....

Had an eye test - I thought I'd save by having new lenses in my old frames, but they still cost a small fortune. Optomotrist says I'm unusual for my age in having no signs of cataract. So that's good! Also had to go to PO Delivery Office four miles away to collect two parcels (from Ebay sellers). Then went to Decathlon to buy some hiking socks - Greatnan take note. The largest children's size fits me nicely. Have also enjoyed watching Paralympics. The power those wheelchair athletes have in their shoulders is frightening!

Enjoyed a lovely day, in the sunshine, at Drusilla's Zoo at Alfriston , Sussex in the company of DD and DGD1 & 2!

Got home at 7 p.m. to hear elderly aunt in hospital , by the time I tracked her down she was on her way home again! Will be off to visit her tomorrow!

Trying to decide whether the news that our youngest daughter is expecting another baby in March is good or not!

Pros

Bertie will only be 14 months old when his sibling is born
She had 3 miscarriages before Bertie
She is Rhesus negative
She has already had some bleeding
There is some evidence that her brother's stroke was caused by Hughes Syndrome which can have a familial link and cause pregnancy problems.

Don't they scare you kitty? It's tough but we have to go with the flow and support the decisions they make in circumstances like this. I would be very worried if my daughter decided to opt for another round of IVF, as it made her dangerously ill and her babies were very premature. She has enjoyed being a new mum so much, and they are thriving 10 month olds now, so I can see that glint in the eye when she talks about friends having another baby

I hope the pregnancy goes well, kitty, and that you enjoy a lovely new grandchild in due course.

I've been practising my toxophilising (sp?), trying to improve my "instinctive" aim, and am now holding my right hand rather awkwardly because a wasp decided to sting my ring finger when I was reaching for my archery tab from a pocket in my quiver. It swelled up quite a lot but I took some piriton and now it has gone down a bit and is just throbbing. Hey ho.

Hmm. If it hasn't subsided more by bedtime, I might resort to the bucket of cold water by the bed and a gracefully trailing arm over the side. Have had to that a couple of times in the past for scalds. It's not too bad, just annoying, and possibly enough to stop me from sleeping. Time will tell.

I've been to my school's Golden Reunion! I'd faffed about for ages, wondering whether to go or not, then decided to bite the bullet and go. The last time I saw any of them was when I left school expecting my daughter, who's now 46! It was so good to get together with them all.....and some of them looked a bit old, actually...

kittylester I shold be rrejoicing!! but I am biased as am denied contact with my 2 little grand daughters, if my son and his partner were expecting I wou ld be whooping for joy!!

hope it all goes well, having said that my daughter suffered from polycystic ovaries, and bled all through the pregnancy there is higher rate of miscarriage with that problem, I was there for her all the time.

I wonder if she thinks of that sometimes??! doubt it as she went on to have another one and did not even tell us.

Would vinegar help, Bags? I can imagine...throb, throb! Other 'arf got stung on the lip a few years ago - I know it was awful for him, but he did look a bit like Plug from the Beano!

My mum used to use bicarb for bees and vinegar for wasps. Don't know the science but it seemed to work.

If I'd been at home I think I would have used vinegar, but we were an hour or so away from home, by which time both my ring finger, my pinkie, and the lower part of my arm were aching. I suppose the wasp poison must have gone whizzing around my blood stream good and proper by then. Thus the piriton, which has helped, and I think the Co-codamol is too. Thanks for the suggestions though

I thought 'Oh, no' each time my daughter told me she was pregnant again, but all six children are now a great joy to me. The last two are only 14 months apart and were both breech so she took the doctors' advice and was sterilised. She was quite ill with the last birth and had to have an emergency section as he was distressed, but he is now a very fit 13-year old.
Similarly, when my eldest grand-daughter and her boy friend (now her fiance) told her mother and myself that she was pregnant, it seemed a very bad idea. That baby is now 3 and her sister is one and they make a lovely little family.
I would concentrate on the 'pros' and try not to worry about the 'cons'.

I'm fairly sure my sons and partners have completed their families and I have five lovely GC, but sometimes I would like another baby to cuddle. I am waiting for my GD to oblige, but she has to get her degree and acquire a job, oh and a partner before she provides the next generation.

My gd is following in the footsteps of myself and her aunt, and going back to further education now she has the children. She is taking a law degree with the OU, with a view to becoming a legal executive when they are both at school.
Only one of my ten gc is adamant that he does not want children and there are three engaged couples, so I expect many more great -gds in the future.

Blimey, Greatnan, are you establishing a tribe? In our family we all seem to have babies in our 30s which makes it less likely that I will see many GGC.
