"Today I've been is full" So I have started What I did Today, as I have something to be a granny bore with.

Today I became a gran for real. DD had my 1st GC 8 days after due date. Several days of twinges and a bad night.
DD rang me at 12;15 today.Just seen midwife at clinic, 3cm and waiting for the taxi to hospital. 5pm I had a phone call, baby had arrived at at 3:30 pm. That is 3 to 10cm in 3hrs! Noah Alexander ***. 6lb 11ozs. Forceps as baby was tiring but amazingly quick DD and SIL surprised by the speed. DD tired and sore but says she is totally in love. I am visiting tomorrow 60 miles away. What a day smile smile smile smile

Nanadogsbody Wed 03-Oct-12 21:53:47

littlenellie sorry to hear you we're misled and exploited. Sleep tight. moon

Ella46 Wed 03-Oct-12 22:05:35

nellie so sorry, what a disappointment for you! flowers
I'm sure you'll find something, maybe you could find a nice bar to run wink

soop Fri 05-Oct-12 11:30:03

nellie my lovely girl, I've only just caught up with your thread. I'm feeling awful for you. You were so bouyed up when the job came your way. You have a lot to offer. However, what was on offer to you was miserable and misleading. I'm pleased to hear that you resigned. You deserve better. A big warm (hug) from me.

gracesmum Fri 05-Oct-12 11:51:22

Oh I am sorry that you were so misled and agree with all those who say you are well out of it. It doesn't bode well for our ageing population (us!) does it that companies offer no real care provision for the elderly/sick/demented. I can imagine how angry and disappointed you are - {{hug}}

JessM Fri 05-Oct-12 12:42:53

Ah damn nellie.

Littlenellie Fri 05-Oct-12 19:40:29

Thank you all for your support and kind words,do feel very deflated ,care work in this area is the main type of employment, and with the changes in the care system,a lot more people are going to be cared for at home wether that is through choice or necessity as care homes are full.
I maybe should have realised that it was too 'easy' to get the job, every
One interviewed was employed, and apart from a crb and references it was a case of interview and start tomorrow,as it is the main form of employment people are being forced to and into work that is a job and not a vocation and we were all like cannon fodder feel so sad, will not try that againxxxxlove nellie

Marelli Fri 05-Oct-12 19:51:26

Littlenellie, you are worth much more than that. Please try not to feel 'deflated'. In deciding that the job was not for you, you showed respect for those who have to be cared for by badly trained staff who were employed merely because they had a pulse. 'God' help the poor 'service users'. sadangry

Littlenellie Fri 05-Oct-12 20:22:22

marelli just how I feel, the types that where in the "training" where not the people that I would associate with care work, and it was just a means of making money and having a job,I am not saying that they were not decent people, but it was just a job.sad for me and people who have no choice but to be cared for by people who don't really care one way or anotherxxx

JessM Fri 05-Oct-12 20:23:30

Maybe you could get a job for a nice private person who you would care for. My MIL has a budget from the council and as long as it is done officially she can spend it on whoever she wants. She now employs her friend to do the cleaning and washing side of things, and a nice small agency for someone to come in first thing while she showers.
(this is a mixed blessing for the person in receipt of the budget as they have to set up a separate bank account, pay NI if applicable etc etc )

Littlenellie Fri 05-Oct-12 20:27:14

That is an option jess but I have no experience ,there is a website I have looked on previously advertising work so maybe private work is the way forward thank you xxx

Glass; did you watch countryfile last night? It was in Northumberland and they were talking about [and showing] bastle houses! I thought of you as I was watching it.

Today we`ve made an appointment with the Cats Protection League to go and see a little white cat, with a view to adopting her. I wasn`t going to have another so soon after Pepper, in case he`s looking down and thinking we`ve forgotten him, but hubby wants another, and I`ve gone along with it before he changes his mind. We`re going tomorrow morning, but it`s not a foregone conclusion, we have to have a home visit first.

soop Mon 08-Oct-12 16:56:07

number I'm smiling, thanks to your thread. That's such good news. Please keep us updated. smile

Nanadogsbody Mon 08-Oct-12 16:59:01

I hope it goes well number I think it's a compliment to Pepper that you need another cat in your life. smile

Mondays I have Dream Child, by himself, all day. I call him this as he smiles and chatters and clowns his way through the day. He is 2 and 2 months, and new words are just tumbling from him every day. If I don't understand him he mimes it for me. He eats whatever I put in front of him, he goes for his nap without a murmur. He could charm the birds off the trees, he makes me laugh grin
Tomorrow he comes again, plus his cousins, Wild Child and Drama Queen hmm
Love them all but some are much harder work than others!

Nanadogsbody Mon 08-Oct-12 18:48:23

Yes, I know. Too much, just feeling happy and needed to share blush

Ana Mon 08-Oct-12 18:58:14

Missed that post, Nanad ! grin Not too much at all, isn't it fascinating how different children are? I'm always amazed that my twin GDs have such varied characteristics despite coming from one egg.

glassortwo Mon 08-Oct-12 19:16:40

crimson yes I saw Countryfile. That is so strange just after I had been talking about ours, the one they showed is a complete bastle ours only has the ground floor still intact with a Georgian upper floor built onto it as they have done on most of them. smile

crimson Mon 08-Oct-12 19:29:29

I was really excited when I heard the word and recognised it from what you'd said! And I'm so fascinated by the stories of the Border Reivers; that's one reason why I love the riding out ceremonies so much. Gosh; what history your house has. Are you going to keep your cattle on the ground floor confused?

glassortwo Mon 08-Oct-12 19:33:37

crimson just the family, but there maybe a resemblance grin

moomin Mon 08-Oct-12 20:06:03

glass - charming wink - hope you managed to get your roof on in the sunny weather at the weekend
