I've never seen Brookside either, harri. In fact, I'm not sure I'd even heard of it before it was mentioned on here. Perhaps I had, but it didn't mean anything to me.

grannyactivist Fri 23-Nov-12 18:01:57

I never saw a single episode of Brookside, but I did get to hear a great deal about it from clients - and my boss, who lived in Liverpool at the time, was a great fan too.

Went into town to return the jimjams I bought from M&S; usual size but don't fit me sad so, rather than try to slim into them before Christmas thought I'd take them back. As has been mentioned on another thread, huge queues in M&S...would have actually spent more money there today but wasn't prepared to stand in a queue of 20 plus people. Anyways, part way round town had a horrible feeling that I'd not put the car park sticker on the window so rushed back to the car in a total blind panic only to find that I had put it there. Yet another senior moment. It would have been sooo unfair if I'd had a parking fine because one of the reasons for going into town was to hand some money in to Oxfam that my son had raised in a charity run. Now off to bed [going to bed earlier and earlier these days]. But this is some sort of record, I think!

Well off to take GS1 to swimming lesson, he does not want to go so I think a little bribery maybe about to happen wink dont tell DD!

annodomini Sat 24-Nov-12 10:00:59

I had a look out of the window and saw the car apparently covered in condensation; took a closer look and found it was a sheet of ice. [brrrr emotican]

Jodi Sat 24-Nov-12 10:58:18

I've given up on my local M&S store. Queues far too long.

annodomini Sat 24-Nov-12 15:04:20

Went to the gym (oh yes, I did!). There are four big TV screens (without sound) and while I was on the treadmill, as BBC 1 was showing a recipe for baked Camembert with roasted garlic, Sky Sports has an advertisement for breath freshener.
Now watching rugby with half an eye, wrapped up in my scarlet fleece PJs which make me look like an elderly Santa, without the beard - so far.

annodomini Sat 24-Nov-12 15:10:50

Correction:
Sky Sports HAD an advertisement for breath freshener

Just been out for lunch with DD3 and her husband to celebrate the late Mr.G's birthday. Can't believe that a year has passed since we were celebrating his 70th. Only our wedding anniversary next saturday, Christmas, New Year and the dreaded date in January to get through and then hopefully a new year can begin.
I am looking forward to the Glasgow meeting on tuesday - especially the bus trip with Marelli - bit like a sunday school outing grin

Grannylin Sat 24-Nov-12 16:58:21

Wish I was coming again, lots of flowers for you Gally - you're a star.

Quiltinggran Sat 24-Nov-12 17:09:50

Please, pretty please, treadmills are not to be mentioned in my hearing, annodomimi!! I fell off one of those unmentionables in August and broke my shoulder as I was trying to get fit again after breaking my wrist in April! I will not be darkening the doors of the gym again any time soon. grin

Marelli Sat 24-Nov-12 17:11:50

Gally another difficult and painful hurdle overcome flowers.
I've got the crate of beer ready for the bus on Tuesday wink !!

I've been with Daisy the Cat to the vet for her booster and yearly check-up.....my arms are bruised from 'encouraging' her into the pet carrier shock and I think the vet was rather taken aback by Daisy's rather spikey demeanour....but did take advantage of Daisy opening her mouth to take a chunk out of her hand, to pop in a worm pill.....thank god it's only once a year hmm !

annodomini Sat 24-Nov-12 17:52:49

Sorry, Quilting, I will keep quiet about you-know-what. Shoulders are such awkward joints. Please don't take any more risks. Are you OK with the recumbent bikes? smile

Ariadne Sat 24-Nov-12 17:57:04

Today I have been recovering from last night; you realise your age when it takes a whole day to recover from drinking and dancing the night (well most of it) away. Feeling better now....a bit, though the knee is protesting, as is Theseus' hip. Heigh ho! But it was a good night!

annodomini Sat 24-Nov-12 18:02:56

It's good to let your hair down, Ariadne. It's worth a little suffering in the aftermath. smile

crimson Sat 24-Nov-12 18:03:03

Just getting ready to go to a Bellowhead concert....

Quiltinggran Sat 24-Nov-12 18:03:45

That sounds a good night Ariadne in spite of your slightly protesting knee and Theseus' hip.
I'm sure I would be ok with recumbent bikes ano if I could persuade myself over the threshold of a gym anytime soon! In the meantime the hydrotherapy pool at the local hospital is good exercise and the physiotherapist is determined that I'll be able to do more than I can at the moment with this shoulder, and so am I.

Grannylin Sat 24-Nov-12 18:13:17

Ooh, lucky you, crimson - they are fun smile

crimson Sat 24-Nov-12 18:21:14

Only problem is that I could only get standing tickets and I hate standing these days. But I left it really late buying the tickets as I wasn't sure that I wanted to see them..then bought their new album which is very good [I love seeing them live but very rarely listen to their cd's] and wanted to see them again. Thankfully there's no support band to sit [I mean stand] through [I think] so, hopefully my knees will lock into position like a cows after a few minutes and the S.O. can prop me against a wall smile. [I might have got my facts wrong about the cow/knee thing]

Oldgreymare Sat 24-Nov-12 18:24:27

Hiding away on GN whilst the OG shouts at the telly! (Wales losing to N.Z....... obvious really!)
Gally flowers and (((hugs)))
Annolooked at your pics and realised I could have come up on the train with Maniac..... hrmph! Look again at your pic with Granjura am I being funny or is one of you making a rude gesture???????? grin

annodomini Sat 24-Nov-12 19:37:46

I was with Greatnan, OGM, but jura took the pic and would we dream of making a rude gesture? How very dare you!!! grin.

harrigran Sat 24-Nov-12 19:40:42

Gally {{{hugs}}}
I was surprised to see how frosty it was this morning, dived back into bed and DH brought my breakfast. Went out for lunch and decided not to bother shopping for once, hurried home to the settee and some TV. Weather forecast is not good for the next few days, just what we need some more rain.

glassortwo Sat 24-Nov-12 20:01:15

harri it was very frosty here too, took DG1 for his swimming lesson and almost went my length in the pool car park, thought I had snapped my back, but just seen the forecast and its rain and more rain.

Gally Sat 24-Nov-12 20:21:17

It's been freezing here too all day but sunny which helps.sunshine
