I have just come back from my choir concert. Morten Lauridsen Lux Aeterna. and Karl Jenkins The Peacemakers. Which our conductor claims us as the first amateur perfomance. It was alright on the night after some mediocre rehearsals.
At vast expense we hired the Chapel en le Frith based Kinder (as in Scout) Children's choir who did the premier professional perfomance. They were amazingly good compared to us. Very powerful well trained singers.

I just about hold my own singing in this choral society but the "buzz" you get when it is going well is amazing. Off to bed on a high to rest my back which is seriously complaining from all the standing still.

Night all. moon

I'm visiting my mother for her birthday and the anniversary of my father's death which fall on the same date.

I'm normally too mean to pay roaming charges when I come over here but I'm beginning to feel a tad stressed and have popped into my favourite place in order to calm down. sad

Butty Sun 25-Nov-12 08:59:29

baubles Here's a bit of sunshine to help you through your day.

Baubs flowers Just look forward to tuesday !!

Nanadog Sun 25-Nov-12 09:34:52

I'm sure your mother will appreciate your visit as it will help her through the day too. What a terrible co-incidence. flowers

Marelli Sun 25-Nov-12 09:41:56

baubles flowers - and it's very likely raining where you are (as it is here in Fife), which won't help to cheer things. Keep cosy and pop on here when you can. See you on Tuesday smile

baubles Sun 25-Nov-12 10:36:34

Thanks all smile it's actually a beautiful sunny morning here in Dublin's fair city. Time to take the dog for a brisk turn around the park methinks. Poured with rain last night as we attended an anniversary mass for my mother's sister in a beautiful inner city church. Cheery weekend altogether!! This particular church has queues outside every morning for the hundreds of food parcels they hand out. They also run a needle exchange programme on the premises - good to see something practical being done.

I love Ireland; we used to go every year for Punchestown and then travel over to the west coast. Give my love to the place, baubles. I've been working quite long hours recently and have been feeling very run down so have been sleeping a lot this past few days. Imagine how disgruntled I was to receive a phone call at 7 this morning from the Environment Agency with a flood alert sad.

glitabo Sun 25-Nov-12 14:15:50

I love Ireland too. I am going there for Christmas.

soop Sun 25-Nov-12 14:19:33

Dublin is a fair city. The pubs are very atmospheric, many with foot-tapping live music. What's more, the Guiness [should that be one n or two?] is well worth the wait [takes ages for the creamy head to settle]. wink

Sorry to hear that you're feeling poorly, crimson. Get well soon. flowers

annodomini Sun 25-Nov-12 14:50:49

I took my GD out to lunch and, as usual, to Aldi, just across the road from the pub. Lots of posh cars in in the car park, but then it is in Didsbury. Very well stocked.

Greatnan Sun 25-Nov-12 16:05:03

Heavy rain all day, so I have watched TV, listened to Radio 4, surfed, read, eaten - not too bad a day really!

Gagagran Sun 25-Nov-12 17:13:34

Managed an early walk by the sea before the rain returned. Lovely! Had a bit of cabin fever after all the recent rain and gales so especially enjoyable.

Just got back home and DD rang for DH to go and rescue her and DGS (age 7) who were out for a bike ride. She's forgotten to pump up his tyres and of course they had gone totally flat. She had no pump with her and it had started to rain hard! Of course he hot-footed it to the rescue - so nice to be able to do that now we live so close.

crimson hope you feel a bit brighter soon. Marelli my flight home is tomorrow evening & Soop I watched a pint of Guinness (for my brother) settle in a pub yesterday lunchtime smile
Sorry not to be seeing you on Tuesday Harrigran . It's lashing down now, I've missed a flight once before from here due to flooding so fingers crossed, I need to be home on Tuesday!!

crimson Sun 25-Nov-12 18:20:06

I bought a bottle of Guinness for my son years ago when we were in Ireland. It's been in his room since then but, a week or so ago I looked at it and just had to drink it. Not sure if it's a good idea to drink Guinness that old? Of course, it's not the same as one freshly poured in a pub on the west coast sad.

Ella46 Sun 25-Nov-12 20:32:54

You were lucky crimson, bottled beer that has gone out of date can make you quite poorly. hmm

Anne58 Mon 26-Nov-12 14:04:42

I took off my glasses before going to brush my teeth, as I keep getting spatters on them.

This probably explains why I loaded my toothbrush with a significant amount of Savlon. confused blush

crimson Mon 26-Nov-12 14:18:33

Just looked out of the window and saw two pigeons in the pyracantha eating the berries. How can they do that without ripping themselves to shreds?
