I hate Bruce Forsythe:there, I've said it. I had to go out Saturday night so I had to record "strictly" replaying it today I did my usual and skipped the stupid/boring bits and then realised I could skip through all his stupid jokes and embarrassing bits, ie. getting people's names wrong and not being able to read the auto que.

What about lovely Joanna Lumley she's nice, also like Dawn French, Kathy Burke, Jennifer Saunders, Jo Brand, Joan Rivers, outrageous but funny, all the women in the Royle Family Caroline Aherne, Sue Johnson and Liz Smith (nana), Caroline Quentin, Brenda Blethyn, Alison Steadman,Tamsin Greig, Ruth Jones who was Nessa in Gavin and Stacey, Miranda Hart, Julie Walters, Meryl Streep cos she's such a wonderful actress, Cameron Diaz because she appears to have a sense of humour and can certainly laugh at herself, Delia Smith for her down to earth approach to cooking, and Nigella Lawson for her ridiculous approach to cooking, but still like he anyway. Zara Phillips for being one of the young royals who actually does something, ditto her mother and for not letting her children have a title, Kate Middleton simply because she has a lovely smile and ticks all the right boxes, lovely Jessica Ennis and gutsy Ellie Simmonds, far more worthy role models for young girls other than Katie (I'm having my boobs/lips made larger/smaller/higher/lower this week) Price and Kerry (if he's got a pulse he'll do, so I planning another baybee then I can do endless interviews and photo shoots re.the birth and my post natal depression hell in Ok/Heat magazines!) Katona! Love ditzy Stacy Solomon though. Kate Moss, because she's kind of disgraceful and not a good role model at all but like she says "never complain and never explain", I like that! and Janet Street Porter. Gwyneth Paltow no, too smug, Kate Winslet no, great actress, horrible acceptance speeches. Naomi Campbell no anger management issues, Cherrie Blair no too greedy! Must go away and think about the men I would put on my good list now.

Age has got nothing nothing to do with not liking certain people as far as I'm concerned. I don't think I have changed my mind about anyone (or perhaps) I've forgotten.
Bruce Forsyth was as false as you know what on Sunday Night At The London Palladium and nothing has changed.
Am I the only (older) person who doesn't want to see other older people on TV with some exceptions, of course.

I do want to see older people on televison if they have something worthwhile to say or do, which is not like Brucie.

The TV moguls are far too keen to get rid of anyone who looks over 50 or doesn't meet their definition of "beautiful people." They do not need any more encouragement to hide us "wrinklys".

There are a lot of well over 50s out there who can still contibute to our entertainment or education.

Some revolting televison critic complained about the roman historian Mary Beard who presented a series on ancient Rome a couple of months ago. he complained she looked dowdy and old.
She is a wonderful presenter, she knows what she is talking about and presents in a lively and engaging way.

Other woman have also been forced off television presenting because of their age. Notably one ? country file presenter whos boss made comments about "time for botox."

Bring out these talented older woman and show the country what they are made of.

Nelliemoser I do agree with you about Mary Beard, I really enjoyed her series about ancient Rome I think she explained her subject very well and made it accessible to people like me are interested, but don't know an awful lot about it. I believe it was A.A. Gill who was critical of her appearance, shame on him! He should have appraised her for the content not what she looks like.
