Grace is a bit miffed that she has had to budge up, but recognises that her mum has been a bad, bad, bad granny and will not be allowed out until the nice ladies at Gransnet Towers say so. Her mum is sad that her scintillating exchange of views with another lady has been curtailed - surely not censoredshock- and the thread she started has apparently disappeared like a snowflake on a river - a moment there, then gone for eversad
It seems a shame that smutty schoolboy lavatorial humour and crude innuendo are deemed acceptable despite leainge a bad taste on an otherwise friendly, companionable and intelligent site. She has said she will apologise to any parties named (or not) so, apart from hanging her head in shame, tail firmly between the legs and ears drooping, what more can she do? She will probably have many more hours in the day now to take Grace for nice walkies instead of sitting at that machine on the desk. [woof] emoticon.

Absent I am very sorry that you interpreted my post as 'sarcastic' it wasn't! I really have no idea why you think it was and would venture to suggest it sayd rather more about you than me!

Greatnan thank you for welcoming me back. What tue is that? I haven't been on here long enough to have a tune I don't think. I do hope you are not suggesting that I 'make thinly veiled comments of other members' because if that is what you are suggesting then you are completely wrong! If I want to make a comment there will eb nothing veiled about it! As I have already said WISIWIG!

Talking of 'thinly veileed comments' who are you suggesting has changed their name?

jO5 Sat 24-Nov-12 13:18:08

They are never going to make a Mumsnet out of us grannies though! grin

jO5 Sat 24-Nov-12 13:18:27

that was in reply to Greatnan's 12.31 post

Ana Sat 24-Nov-12 13:19:27

I must admit I'm always a bit disturbed by that, as I, along with several other established members, have indeed changed their user name.

jO5 Sat 24-Nov-12 13:22:03

" I appreciate everything they do"

Yep. And they'd appreciate us a lot more if the ads would roll in a bit more frequently. grin

absentgrana Sat 24-Nov-12 13:24:31

Movedalot Why the quotes around 'misunderstanding' then? They don't seem to serve any other purpose than to suggest that Greatnan understood perfectly well and was pretending to read the post in another, deliberately distorted way.

It is quite uncanny how you have used many of the same phrases and idiosyncrasies of speech and expressed the same ideas almost word for word as a member who hasn't posted for a while. I wonder if you are related. By the way, I think what you meant to write is WYSIWYG.

jeni Sat 24-Nov-12 13:27:07

I think GNHQ do a great job! wine[cake] they've responded promptly to all the ones I've reported. Like Bill1234 today. 10mins later he'd gone! I just wonder what he'll reappear as?

Elegran Sat 24-Nov-12 13:31:17

Hunt the nipper.

absentgrana Sat 24-Nov-12 13:33:09

jO5 Why would they [GNHQ?] want to make a Mumsnet out of grannies and what would that be? I should still like to know why you think GNHQ has an over-inflated sense of its own importance. I have never seen any evidence of this, so I'm very puzzled about what you meant.

annodomini Sat 24-Nov-12 13:59:04

Having met two of the Gransnet staff, I can confirm that they are human beings just like us - if somewhat younger. If they weren't there, neither would Gransnet exist. Give them a break.

Movedalot Sat 24-Nov-12 14:01:40

Absent Thank you so much for the correction, my horrendous mistake comes because I am so busy with my life that I don't always re-read what I have typed and my brain does not always reach my fingertips! I look forward to being corrected far more often as this is the first time anyone has done so.

The quotes were there I was wanting to give the impression that it may not have been the correct word for what was happening. I don't do sarcasm, not honest enough for me.

So you think I have changed my name? I must therefore assume that Greatnan does too as you do seem to think alike so very often. Perhaps you should say who and what you really think.

Ana I sympathise with you because I understand that although some members have changed their names because of things which have happened on GN, others have done so for reasons totally outside GN and would be extremely upset to be outed by people with suspicious minds.

GeraldineGransnet (GNHQ) Sat 24-Nov-12 14:04:30

gracesmum You are not remotely in the doghouse. Not even one tiny bit. Come out of there now, it's no place for a grown woman and anyway you probably need some brew and cupcake.

We did delete a thread, abiding by our rules (which as you know are few and far between, but do specifically say we don't trollhunt on the forums because it just encourages them and of course is also hurtful if it happens to be a misunderstanding).

And j05, we don't want to be like Mumsnet - there would have been no point in setting up if we did. We pride ourselves on being way superior, as befits ladies of our advanced years and wisdom.
<she said self-importantly>

jO5 Sat 24-Nov-12 14:05:36

absent Mumsnet is stuffed full of adverts. Gransnet is not. No doubt HQ would like more. Adverts=finance.

I can't make it any simpler.

Ana Sat 24-Nov-12 14:06:00

grin Good one, Geraldine!

absentgrana Sat 24-Nov-12 14:06:00

Well – and graciously – said GeraldineGransnet.

jO5 Sat 24-Nov-12 14:06:38

You must envy Mumsnet's fame.

Just a little bit? smile

jO5 Sat 24-Nov-12 14:08:45

You'll be wanting the book back, won't you?

jeni Sat 24-Nov-12 14:10:16

jingle aren't you supposed to be making a cake?

absentgrana Sat 24-Nov-12 14:14:29

Movedalot Is it the first paragraph of your last post that contradicts the second paragraph or vice versa.

I was just informing you that WYSIWYG was what you probably intended. I thought that was helpful. It was only a btw.

I merely remarked that you sound uncannily like another member and wondered if perhaps you were sisters. I have no idea whether she is still a member or has moved on to somewhere else. Why – were you a member with different name in the past? How very intriguing.

Ana told everyone that she was changing her name from Anagran.

Movedalot Sat 24-Nov-12 14:33:24

absent thank you so much for another correction, I really must mend my ways or I will get chucked out of GN for not being up to the very high standard expected.

Sorry but I just don't agree with you but am sure that as you spend much more time than I do on GN that you must know better then I do. You may be an expert on the subject but I am afraid I'm not.

yogagran Sat 24-Nov-12 15:04:13

I can't stand this petty bickering - just because it's raining outside you've all got nothing better to do. Get your coats and boots on and go out to play grin

annodomini Sat 24-Nov-12 15:08:55

yoga smile

Elegran Sat 24-Nov-12 15:28:19

Well, if it was someone wanting to set us all at each others throats, they have certainly succeeded! We are certainly showing them how grown-up and civilised we are, aren't we?

Yes, that one was sarcastic.

crimson Sat 24-Nov-12 15:32:13

It's what trolls do. They cause a knock on effect. Having said that, the forum was a bit this way last weekend as well.

Ana Sat 24-Nov-12 15:33:41

I blame the government! hmm
