Does anyone else think that there is far too much petty bickering on GN

If you read the threads there is quite a bit of banter between members, I am sooo dissapointed at this because at our age we really should know better. It makes me feel un comfortable and I have actually been at the other end of such goings on. Really not sure what response I am going to get with this thread but can not help but be honest.

I am so tempted to say "if you can't stand the heat...................."

But I won't.

This thread had turned into a Xmas fun thread. hmm

jO5 Thu 20-Dec-12 12:39:34

I AM SO SORRY! I HAD THE THREAD UPSIDE DOWN! blush] blush blush

I though it had started up again. It was the original post. Durrrr

jO5 Thu 20-Dec-12 12:39:57

Do carry on. smile

Ana Thu 20-Dec-12 12:43:52

You daft Sassenach! grin

jO5 Thu 20-Dec-12 12:47:43

I am trying to ice two Xmas cakes here. In my defence. hmm grin

whenim64 Thu 20-Dec-12 12:48:15

Have a mince pie Jingle. Everyone is much happier now I hope! grin

jO5 Thu 20-Dec-12 12:48:28

I'm going to read my book for a while.

And sod the lot of it. smile

jO5 Thu 20-Dec-12 12:49:04

Oh yes. Got to make some more mince pies this afternoon. [fscream]!!!!

whenim64 Thu 20-Dec-12 12:49:41

Would you notice if I slip this 'ere Christmas cake in with yours, Jingle? It'll never get iced, otherwise! grin

Marelli Thu 20-Dec-12 12:57:27

I've been icing one as well, and I can't get my snowdrifts to stay up confused - and Daisy the white-haired cat [hmm is being curious. I'm trying to keep her out of the kitchen but it's difficult to get a cat to be biddable, isn't it?

jO5 Thu 20-Dec-12 12:58:59

Yes I would flippin' notice!!!!! hmm grin

jO5 Thu 20-Dec-12 13:00:34

I always think turning-over-at-the-top snowdrifts look quite nice. smile

And they still taste good!

Ana Thu 20-Dec-12 13:01:42

How many mince pies are you making, jingl? confused
You seem to have been doing them for ages.....
Or do they get eaten so you have to make another lot?

jO5 Thu 20-Dec-12 13:07:57

One or two might get eaten. A few Some get frozen.

jO5 Thu 20-Dec-12 13:09:08

I think I'm on a roll actually. hmm

I've been studying recipes on the internet. Amazing how many ways there are to make shortcrust pastry. smile

Movedalot Thu 20-Dec-12 13:38:17

Didn't do snowdrifts this year, bought ready to roll and just plopped it on, so much easier. Cut out a few leaves and done! [fsmug emotion]

Nanado Thu 20-Dec-12 13:58:57

Make? Shortcrust pastry? What from flour and stuff? Not ready rolled from Tesco?

Respect (I think) hmm

jO5 Thu 20-Dec-12 14:38:30

shock

I'm saying no more. hmm

jO5 Thu 20-Dec-12 14:39:38

Yes I am!

Homemade Xmas cakes deserve homemade marzipan and homemade royal icing. Shop stuff? No!!!!

grin

Granny23 Thu 20-Dec-12 14:43:26

Quite right JO5 otherwise you might as well buy a ready made and decorated cake. wink

Zengran Thu 20-Dec-12 14:59:31

Could you post me a piece to try? grin

Movedalot Thu 20-Dec-12 15:08:39

Cor, home made marzipan smile Made the cake, pudding and mince pies, that's quite enough for me. grin

Marelli Thu 20-Dec-12 15:16:39

My drifts are still all floppy....but getting a bit firmer now...I shall put silver balls around them as soon as they firm up, to make it look twinkley. smile

Sel Thu 20-Dec-12 15:29:25

I am pleased to see that the potential Border wars have been resolved by a neat segue into mince pies and icing..so Gransnet grin

Christmas hat off too to culinary supremacy ladies as I've never made a mince pie or a cake..I used to rely on my Mum for those. Oh dear, first the spelling, now this blush

grannyactivist Thu 20-Dec-12 15:43:54

Sel grin
Seeing you write segue has just started me thinking.....follow me onto my next thread.
