Are daughters better at caring for parents?.

I shared by table with another man who was widowed and a lady today in a cafe which was full today.
The other man had 2 daughters and I have 2 daughters.
She said that we will be ok for care as we have daughters who will never let their old Dad's down where as a son is less reliable.
I am not sure if I agree as I cared for my father ( in all fairness my daughters and son in law did help out ) and I know of a few examples where sons have cared for their parents or in laws.
Do you agree with this lady or me.

DH was an only child and he looked after his parents as well as any women. Admittedly, he did not have to provide personal care but in the last year of his father's life he made a round trip of nearly 200 miles almost every weekend to check that his parents were OK, caring for his father, taking his mother shopping and doing anything that needed doing. This, despite having a job that took him away from home for much of the week and having two small children whom he wished to spend time with.

Merlot when I posted earlier, I didn't say I feel for what you're going through, it's a tough time I know. Sorry flowers

And sorry too that I lowered the Gransnet tone to the point where there seemed to be feverish shopping for toyboys. Tut tut. Links were posted! It's so very disappointing. Luckily no one stooped as low as me and aquired one!

Ahem......actually Sel I have now been in possession of an actual toyboy for some twenty six years. He's getting rather wrinkly and his hair is white, but as he might rightly point out, he'll always be ten years younger than me.

jeni glad you seem to have seen the virus off. sunshine

merlot - you're having a tough time. flowers

Hmmmmmm ga an actual toyboy? with white hair? mine is blond grin and I've had him 12 years - I can't compete but he is wearing well! Given that women have a longer life expectency than men, it seems to make sense. My first husband was 13 years older - I do prefer this model smile
