ROOM 101

Just watched this and thought what a rich seam it could be for us!

My choice for today would be young women who affect squeaky, little girl voices.

Warning triangles in the weather forcasts, as if its some sort of unexpected unpredictable apocalyptic event. If you are daft enough to drive without taking due care of the environment then I hardly think that a warning triangle flashed up on the tv screen will make any difference.

I would throw into Room 101 the expression regarding people (usually young women) who 'juggle their busy lives' HATE IT! Also to give 'someone a bell' instead of phoning them..

Just wondering if there is an opposite to room 101?
If there was a place to keep odd things that you just cant do without I would have to include. A good reading light by my bed, Large bone china mugs that are white inside for drinking tea out of and never running out of milk for the afore mentioned tea. (My childhood was blighted by my poor scatterbrained but darling Mum running out of things, milk was the main problem as was loo roll!)

That nasty, shouting little man that does the Safe Style UK double glazing advert if anything was designed to ensure I'd never, ever buy from them it's him angry

Wars and conflicts they should be on everybody's list for room 101.

Grannyknot Wed 16-Jan-13 11:55:43

Ian42 you are right. Top of the list.

Motorway warning signs for no reason at all.

People who get to the front of the queue and then fall asleep so some poor person is forced to keep shouting 'next please'

ATMs which don't give reciepts

Nestle and its associate companies, L'Oreal and Body Shop

Movedalot Wed 16-Jan-13 12:55:21

Women who use different voices when speaking to men to when they are speaking to women. The ones who thrust out their chests and flick their hair!

gma Wed 16-Jan-13 21:15:14

I don't think that any other gransnetters have mentioned it yet.........but SPITTING would have to go into room 101. It is the most foul and disgusting habit perpitrated by many sportsmen. They should be charged with offences against public decency. It makes me feel queasy even writing about it.
Bring back the spittoon!!!!! and place them at regular intervals around the edges of football pitches and cricket pitches, what a thought!!!!!!!!! angry

Ariadne Wed 16-Jan-13 21:25:49

Angels! I mean the ones that some people give you to clip on your car sun visor, or pin on your jacket, or hang in your window etc.

Babysitters who get their dates wrong

jeni Wed 16-Jan-13 21:46:09

Claimants with the last appointment of the day, who requested to come in earlier, say no way, but they are coming, then don't come so you have to wait!
I'll swear they do it to annoyangry

annodomini Wed 16-Jan-13 21:58:59

Privet. The most boring hedging plant and if it flowers it's highly allergenic. And it insists on growing so that then I have to trim it! or pay someone to do it...hmm

shysal Thu 17-Jan-13 07:49:11

anno Leylandii hedging is even more deserving of room 101, especially when it belongs to a neighbour who does not cut it. I do my side but as I don't do ladders on a slope, I can't reach the top with my lopper or extra long handled trimmer.

lillian Thu 17-Jan-13 16:07:05

would it be a good idea to have a seperate forum just for meet up information it is taking so long to go through 500 messages and more trying to find information.....please one click to find the nearest meet up would be wonderful...Lillian

whenim64 Thu 17-Jan-13 16:11:53

If you look under 'meet ups' Lillian you should find a few different threads for different parts of the country.

annodomini Thu 17-Jan-13 16:45:36

Don't get me started on Leylandii, shysal... angry

fluffy Thu 17-Jan-13 19:08:51

I agree - I am starting my own little 'I'm very well thank you and how are you' campaign to everybody instead of 'I'm good thanks'.

Also want to start a 'using real hankies'campaign instead of tissues - nothing like a nice well laundered hankerchief to make you feel good.

fluffy Thu 17-Jan-13 19:12:38

Oh yes so maybe I should put tissues in 101

and especially people who leave used ones lying around.

and...

people who leave the front gate open and...

people who don't wipe their feet before walking on a cream carpet.

Feel better now.

Ana Thu 17-Jan-13 19:15:23

Don't get me started on hankies, fluffy! DH insists on using them, whereas I think tissues are much more hygienic. It's certainly very off-putting when he pulls a grubby and already-used one out of his pocket with a flourish just before a sneeze!

Bruha Thu 17-Jan-13 19:40:47

Sainsbury advert for car insurance where a young lad kicks a ball into a car no sorry just a sneer, manners!!

susieb755 Thu 17-Jan-13 23:48:48

People who say that a cake/ view/ house is 'to die for' - its so banal, if you were dead you wouldn't have it !

I also detest anyone calling themselves Dr something that isn't a GP..........probably due to the trauma of my mum discussing my periods with my form teacher Dr ( of theology) Clark, thinking he was a medical doctor smile
