Mishap, You have all my sympathy. my daughter broke her ankle badly about six weeks ago and is finding it very hard to cope with the fact that she still cannot walk very far and is often in pain. The ligaments were torn too, and she fears it may still be months before she is able to ride, cycle, hike or kayak. She is bitterly frustrated as she is normally very active with her large garden and volunteering at the Riding for the Disabled. She has been having physio twice a week and the therapist put some kind of tape on her leg which seemed to help. (It is ironic that my daughter was always warning me about the dangers of walking alone in the mountains.) Were you advised to try to keep using your ankle. rather than resting it?
I have had a very productive day. I had guests staying in my flat whilst I was in Manchester, so I had lots of bedding to wash. I took it to the laundrette in the next village, and whilst it was in the machine I went to the library and printed off some airline tickets, then to the supermarket and stocked up with food. When I got home, I ironed the bedding and remade the bed ready for any other visitors. I made a big pan of chicken broth which will last me at least two days, and had a bowl of it with a chunk of fresh bread. Needless to say, the snow here is white and fresh looking and the air is crisp. The views were lovely going down the valley - I never get over the beauty of the mountains, in all seasons, but there is something very special about them when they are covered in deep snow and the forests are silver.
