Bolthole, anyone?

Every now and again, I feel the need for the sanctuary of a Gransnet Bolthole. I've got the logfire going, swept the snow away from the path, and the kettle's just about to boil. Tea and crumpets, anyone? smile

GE I have a totally crazy friend in Amersham (one of the places we used to live) who used to post a lot on Fb about his friendly bears. Bemused his DD all the time but was great fun.

Anyone here ever seen one of these?

a BIG shaggy dog

Grannyeggs Sun 20-Jan-13 12:58:04

My DS lives in Amersham, no bears though ,sadly.

Love it but I read 'leads' as 'heads'. Think I need more coffee (and new glasses) grin

Kali Sun 20-Jan-13 12:59:23

It's a true story I nearly p****d myself. Which considering the temperature would have formed an icicle in a weird place grin

Grannyeggs Sun 20-Jan-13 12:59:24

They are beautiful.

Lovely place Amersham.

Wish GS was here, I have an urge to read him 'Going on a Bear Hunt'

Kali Sun 20-Jan-13 12:59:57

Where's Amersham?

Grannyeggs Sun 20-Jan-13 13:00:37

Not the icicles in a strange place, I mean the dogs!

Movedalot Sun 20-Jan-13 13:00:42

South Buckinghamshire on the end of the Metropolitan Line.

Kali Sun 20-Jan-13 13:02:14

Liked the bit about you thinking she reattached their heads!!

Grannyeggs Sun 20-Jan-13 13:02:15

Amersham is on the Chiltern Line, about 45 minutes North of London.

harrigran Sun 20-Jan-13 13:02:37

Yes Kali I saw a couple with two of these dogs at the Eurotunnel at Christmas. Remember thinking 'better them than me sharing the car with two big boys'

I have a friend with a 'Newfie'. He's gigantic, and such a loving, cuddly dog!

Kali Sun 20-Jan-13 13:06:51

Thanks for the sanctuary. I have to go now but the company was great and welcoming and much needed xxx

gracesmum Sun 20-Jan-13 13:07:43

You know when things become totally quite surreal? I have just snorted coffee all over the laptop at the thought of "re-attaching heads" without the slightest idea what this is all about! Need to scroll back I think hmm

whenim64 Sun 20-Jan-13 13:09:26

See you later Kali

Perhaps later we could have a ceilidh, Kali? Got any bagpipes? grin

Grannyeggs Sun 20-Jan-13 13:14:41

Come back later kali Will have to think about the bagpipes...hmm

annodomini Sun 20-Jan-13 13:20:26

Aren't they cute as puppies? I'd like a Newfie to warm my feet on, but I only have a small house. It would be worth it to see the reaction of my grand-cats when I took it to visit... is there somewhere I could hire one? Imagine taking one of those on a train though!

Ariadne Sun 20-Jan-13 15:28:24

Oh, just missed Kali! Come back later, I'd love a ceilidh. And it would mean we could have a dram or two to foster the Celtic spirit! I think I have some dram type stuff somewhere...we won't have to dance, though, will we?

whenim64 Sun 20-Jan-13 15:40:48

Just off out for dinner with all the twins. I'll bring a doggie bag back. Mind, that could be squelched pizza! grin

Movedalot Sun 20-Jan-13 16:09:22

We have the bagpipes but Can't paly them! My fther was an expert.

gracesmum Sun 20-Jan-13 16:09:56

Ceilidh with Kali and a collie? Now she's getting silly.
