Hi folks!

Ella46 Fri 22-Feb-13 19:10:02

Well done Ariadne, enjoy your time with your friends knowing that you've made Theseus happy.
"Worrying in advance" is something I've been trying to give up for years!

I packed my case for my geology trip to the Canaries! Several times! Why does stuff not go into a case the same way twice.

As we are going to be travelling around in a minibus I need my backfriend seat base, or my back will be complaining at any squidgy bus seats. Then there are my walking poles to protect the same dodgy joints. I find it hard to find comfortable seating anywhere but at home so I go equipped.

Just about getting exicted now. But will OH be ready in time to drive with me to the station 6 miles away to bring the car back? That is the anxiety making bit.

I shall miss a whole week of Gransnet that will be hard.
Be good! and don't do anything I wouldn't do!

glassortwo Fri 22-Feb-13 23:01:44

nellie enjoy your trip smile

I have been all over the country the last two days, Shotton yesterday then drove the long way to Cheltenham through Ludlow, Wrexham and lots of other places. Today started in Cheltenham up to Anglesey, then up to Windermere and home again, I have been through some gorgeous scenery and wished I could have stopped off instead of driving through but I have got a flat bot with sitting for two days in the car.

Seem to have a slight "mystery virus" this morning - must have caught it from the friends with whom I was in the bar last night!

Theseus is at his meeting, and I'm just finishing a leisurely breakfast. He is a bit tired - you have to walk miles to various rooms in these big hotels, and of course he couldn't miss anything. There are about 600 of us here, and between us I swear we know most of them. Lovely.

Honestly, why was I being such a wuss about this???

annodomini Sat 23-Feb-13 09:32:29

Ariadne grin Watch out for those viruses wink

Bags Sat 23-Feb-13 09:47:38

ariadne smile, you were just having a weary moment.

JessM Sat 23-Feb-13 09:52:56

Pretty mysterious virus if it can work that fast ariadne. Hope you are perking up as the day goes on.

glassortwo Sat 23-Feb-13 09:55:10

Ariadne sunshine a good breakfast and coffee works well for those types of virus morning smile

grannyactivist Sat 23-Feb-13 09:55:31

hmm Bar + late night meeting with friends = 'mystery virus'. The 'hair of the dog' might help Ariadne. grin grin

Thunder at 7am this morning followed by snow, we have several inches. I do hope it is not going to stop me getting out for lunch.

Beautiful cold, sunny day here with blue, cloudless sky. Am feeling exhausted after 3 days of gs's here. I am in charge from mid day when DD and SiL go to a wedding. Luckily a friend is coming to give me moral support and help with bath time. I feel as if my eyes have been rubbed with soap - why do little ones have such disturbed sleep and why can't their parents get up and deal with them and not leave it to me! Wouldn't mind if I wasn't trying to get ready to leave for Oz on Wednesday.shock

Stansgran Sat 23-Feb-13 11:37:16

D GS s left yesterday and I've decided that because there is very much more fluffy white stuff out there than the weather man foretold I will keep my leccy blanket on all day and keep returning to my pit between being clever with leftovers.
Made the most disgusting curry last night with beet root magenta chicken curry from a one pot cookery book. Seems better today but the times had a beet root curry recipe in this morning and a variety of ingredients plus curry paste. I don't see athe point of putting lots of spices together then adding curry paste .

No white stuff here. Just overcast
nellie if you have a 3G tablet they work in the canaries.

soop Sat 23-Feb-13 17:00:58

Clear blue sky, tinged with palest pink. Placid sea. No wind. Crispness in the air. Gorgeous in Kintyre. smile

glassortwo Sat 23-Feb-13 17:10:29

soop how are you and MrS today smile

glassortwo Sat 23-Feb-13 17:11:06

I have been housebound all day with the snow sad

annodomini Sat 23-Feb-13 17:13:30

Small flakes fluttered down for several hours but thawed on impact. it's still close to freezing though.

soop Sat 23-Feb-13 17:20:07

glass It's kind of you to ask. Mr soop seems more "with it" and moves around with ease. He is looking forward to a wee dram this evening. smile
We are more hopeful of succeeding with the plans for the wee hoos in the orchard. Applying for planning permission sometime soon. House on the market in early March. First steps always take time and much patience, as many GN's know from experience.
Take care in the snow. We've not any all winter.

Tegan Sat 23-Feb-13 17:26:51

Is it really bad in Newcastle glass? The S.O. was travelling oop north tomorrow.

glassortwo Sat 23-Feb-13 17:30:08

It is in parts tegan we are right out in the sticks and always get it bad, but DH has just come in and he said the main roads are fine and I dont think we are forecast anymore so I would think he will be fine tomorrow.

harrigran Sat 23-Feb-13 17:52:16

I went out for lunch and managed beyond the airport but it was pretty hairy in places. The salt spreader was out and was creating slush on the main roads, salty spray was all over the car. By the time we had finished lunch the snow had stopped and it was fine travelling home.

Tegan Sat 23-Feb-13 17:54:56

Thanks glass.
