Nelliemoser - I know how you feel, because I get a pang when I hear about other members' happy families. of course I am glad for them, but it reminds me of my own heartbreak and constant worry about one daughter's mental and physical health.
On the bright side, I have one loving daughter, her husband, her six children, another grand-daughter and four lovely great-grand-daughters, a sister and her sons and their wives and some really good friends. I try to keep my sorrow in a separate compartment in my mind so it doesn't ruin my entire life.
Soop - one of my grand-daughters who is in her third year of a nursing degree here in Nelson, NZ, also works in a care home several nights a week. She loves the old people and find the work very rewarding. She does admit that some can be cantankerous, but she says that it is often understandable, given their health problems - some are often in pain.
I am off to an audiologist this morning - my daughter is sure that a hearing aid will improve my quality of life - I expect she is right.
