I was looking for a forum on which to put only good news as I have had a nice bit of news today myself. However, I couldn't find one so here it is. No grousing, no disasters, just good news. Oh yes - my good news concerns my DiL who has today been interviewed for and been successful in getting a new job as assistant head teacher of a highly successful comprehensive school. She deserves it - she has a brilliant track record in her present school both as a subject teacher and as a manager. When I spoke to her, she was deservedly enjoying wine.

I 'heard' that, anno!
Sun is shining as usual here, and I have fed the hens and the four little chicks - I feel like Marie Antoinette playing at being a milk maid!
We are having a bbq tonight with GD and her fiance and a lovely couple who befriended my family as soon as they arrived in NZ.

Let's hope that will be good news, soop! I had a nice surprise yesterday when DS rang up and told me to go to John Lewis today to pick up my mother's day present. He 'clicked'; I 'collected' a pretty pair of earrings. He and his OH have good taste and know what I like. For various reasons I haven't been able to go down to see the family this weekend - for one thing, I got the date wrong and thought MD was next week!

Come on Scotland! You can do it!

Flower of Scotland, when will we see your likes again... etc etc grin

I've uploaded pic of Torben's first cake. His mummy weighed the ingredients. He did the rest. Yoghurt and date. She tells me that he's watching it as it cools. grin

That looks rather good, soop! smile

(BTW just looking at Rory's pics again - I've never noticed before what dainty feet he has!)

soop Sat 09-Mar-13 16:34:51

Ana His feet are rather pretty. He's also very strong. He now knows, that if he barges into the kitchen door at full speed - it opens.

An amusing little story to tell you.
Rory has taken to making weird, strangled whinges at around six in the morning. I pretend not to hear him. After a good deal of padding around and nudging disturbing Mr soop, he managed to get a very early breakfast. After which, he continued to be "bothersome." Mr soop asked him [the cat] do you want to go outside? The cat stared at Mr soop and wouldn't budge an inch. Mr soop coaxed cat outside with a gentle shove - using the floppy end of the mop. Cat sat outside and continued to protest [loudly]. Mr soop relented. It was beginning to rain. Mr soop called cat back indoors, after which, he proceeded to dry his damp fur with kitchen towel. At 6:30 cat settles down and Mr soop tries to get back to sleep. wink

Ana Sat 09-Mar-13 16:38:34

How strange! I wonder what it was he really wanted? confused
(Apart from an early breakfast, of course...)

soop Sat 09-Mar-13 16:50:09

Made an insurance claim for a lost antique ring and the people dealing with it are really nice and helpful. They have given me some suggestions for antique jewellers who might have something suitable and been very fair about the valuation. Isn't it good to be able to say something nice about an insurance claim? smile

Went out for lovely pre birthday/ pre mothers day meal with DGS, DGD,DH and DS. Kids behaved and the food was tasty with wine.

As it was a surprise they didn't tell me so I was out in the garden with Gch- we were all planting clematis in what was mud. {don't we love the HELP!!!!!}.All knee deep in mud when DS told me we had to get changed quickly to get to restaurant by 1.00. Ahh bless.

But a great treat and toasted by the children.

My good news is that my little granddaughter, who is now seven months old, is thriving. She was a poorly wee thing for months, suffering badly from acid reflux which caused her to be constantly sick and in pain. The medication she was eventually given has done the trick, she's a different child now, happy, healthy, and positively glowing smile

Ella46 Sat 09-Mar-13 17:46:44

Poor little thing, that must have been very unpleasant for her.
