What I did today! The next chapter!

One of those days today! I was trying to get packed for my hospital stay, tidy up the house. I did a woollen wash and put stuff out on the line. I was aiming to get out in time for lunch with my knitting group friends.

I then started to clean the E bay high chair DD bought for use here. Not a good idea! If you put a tap on, make sure the plug is out of the sink. Don’t go off and do something else!

So I rushed back into the flood, upstairs to the airing cupboard, got out the “doggy towels” to mop up. I cleared up, whilst paddling about in the room in wet slippers, socks and trouser bottoms. The tap had over flowed across the work surface into the cupboard underneath. This soaked a box of washing powder, which is now in the shed drying out. The box will need re-gluing.
There is moral here somewhere.

During this crisis I was talking on the phone to SIL who rang to wish me well in hospital.

I have now girded up my loins for parathyroid surgery tomorrow.
Due to go in at 8am beds permitting with hopefully just an overnight stay. I have no idea how I will feel afterwards.
Probably come home with a bolt through my neck! grin

Very happily my lovely DD is coming over on Saturday to cook me a meal and administer TLC, her suggestion, knowing that her father is as much use as a chocolate fireguard at such times. Its very useful having a nurse in the family she was so lovely today, and I will see DGS. smile

All the very best, Nellie. Keep us informed of your progress. Hope you will feel the benefit of your surgery very soon. flowers

Every good wish and things crossed for you Nellie , hope all goes well.

Personally, today we travelled almost 270 miles each way for an interview. (I had the interview, Mr P did the driving, bless him)

GN has been 'off' all day here - I have been lost shock

JessM Thu 14-Mar-13 08:25:18

I think the site has been down galen Good morning.
I'm relieved my AGM is over. Last year it was a little acrimonious because some members were used to it being a debating shop. This year I was forewarned and all business done in 30 minutes including the 5 minutes at the beginning when I told them what wonderful, hardworking trustees they have, which is true. Everyone surprised it went off so smoothly grin
Going to see the GSs in 3.5 weeks and have a mountain of things to do before I go. Tally ho.

Mamie Thu 14-Mar-13 08:34:14

Good morning; site has been down since I first tried at 0530 your time.
More snow, so we are still snowed in (since Monday). I am going stir crazy!

Stansgran Thu 14-Mar-13 13:14:37

Taken the car in or MOT. Looked in BHS for a kitchen light.- what's with all these chandeliers? Popped into the stationers for cheap envelopes and came out with six packets of things for children to make over Easter . I think more for me than them but the weather could be poor.going to Aladdin tonight in Sunderland so have my feet up

JessM Thu 14-Mar-13 13:20:15

There are a lot of chandeliers in BHS and other lighting depts. Very sparkly indeed. Most ceilings in this part of the world much too low for such fandanglers.
Had a lovely walk in spring sunshine. Still a little frosty in the shadows but that awful easterly wind has weakened.

Ylil Thu 14-Mar-13 13:25:27

Made broccoli and sweet potatoe soup, shrunk hubby's jacket sad found some hostels for sons imminent trip to Asia.

Gorki Thu 14-Mar-13 13:46:03

The soup sounds lovely.Do you need any other ingredients?

Galen Thu 14-Mar-13 13:55:06

Ylil perhaps you shouldn't have put the jacket in with the soup?hmm

Ella46 Thu 14-Mar-13 13:55:46

Nellie Good wishes and sunshine, hope it goes well.

I'm babysitting my favourite baby as her mum is poorly.
She has grown so much in a very short time and is trying so hard to talk. She understands what you say to her really well and is quite comical in her replies!

I just get overwhelmed with love for her smile
