What I did today! The next chapter!

One of those days today! I was trying to get packed for my hospital stay, tidy up the house. I did a woollen wash and put stuff out on the line. I was aiming to get out in time for lunch with my knitting group friends.

I then started to clean the E bay high chair DD bought for use here. Not a good idea! If you put a tap on, make sure the plug is out of the sink. Don’t go off and do something else!

So I rushed back into the flood, upstairs to the airing cupboard, got out the “doggy towels” to mop up. I cleared up, whilst paddling about in the room in wet slippers, socks and trouser bottoms. The tap had over flowed across the work surface into the cupboard underneath. This soaked a box of washing powder, which is now in the shed drying out. The box will need re-gluing.
There is moral here somewhere.

During this crisis I was talking on the phone to SIL who rang to wish me well in hospital.

I have now girded up my loins for parathyroid surgery tomorrow.
Due to go in at 8am beds permitting with hopefully just an overnight stay. I have no idea how I will feel afterwards.
Probably come home with a bolt through my neck! grin

Very happily my lovely DD is coming over on Saturday to cook me a meal and administer TLC, her suggestion, knowing that her father is as much use as a chocolate fireguard at such times. Its very useful having a nurse in the family she was so lovely today, and I will see DGS. smile

Just finished hosting a fun Spring Equinox lunch for my friends. Everyone joined into the spirit and wore home made headdresses made from pickings from their gardens.
Good food some wine and laughter.

Been into town to spend my Christmas Bonmarche voucher. Got 2 tunic tops, a jumper, and a pair of trousers, haven`t worn trousers since Adam were a lad, dread to think what I`ll look like hmm but I want to wear tunic tops, and they don`t really go with skirts, do they?
Had a fright last night, Mia was in the yard, we heard a dog snarling, Mia shrieking, shock when I got out there she`d disappeared, and I was worried that she`d gone off to lick her wounds after the dog had had her, but she turned up an hour later, all in one piece, praise be.

I just had to stop watching what I thought would be an interesting program on insects on BBC4 when the presenter started dissecting one YUK!
It took me a couple of minutes to find the remote! I think I could have managed watching the dissection of anything else other than an insect. Squeamish or what!

Yesterday we took DGD1 to her post Auschwitz seminar in Bristol; deposited her and her friend in mid Bristol at 2.30 then spent the afternoon at Cribbs Causeway, then fought our way back into Bristol at 6.00. Then drove home to Bideford...but I did get chips en route!

So this morning was spent recovering, mainly from the walking about at CC!

I spent the afternoon ordering all our EAL resources etc for the Volunteer Training Team to use in the township school in Sibilonge, KwazuluNatal, in late April, which is very satisfying.

Off to Oxford on Friday for the night, to meet lots and lots of friends, so hair to be cut tomorrow. Meanwhile, my bed is calling....

Galen - every cloud has a sliver lining. GD Time!!! And if you have a little list of jobs you could do with a little bit of help with... now's your big chance.
BBC are doing an insect season. Interesting programmes. I enjoyed the one about insects etc as a food source and was amazed to see the cheerful Cambodian boys hunting (and eating) tarantulas. It seemed to be one of their key sources of protein and enjoyed in the manner of a grilled crab with plain rice. They looked about 10 but said they were 14 and 15 - very malnourished I guess and no wonder keen to put in time hunting spiders. But they seemed very cheerful.

Galen Thu 21-Mar-13 08:47:27

Stupid blackbird at 5.33 am this morning. Dinging his black little heart out!

Galen Thu 21-Mar-13 08:47:51

Dinging?
Singing!

Galen Thu 21-Mar-13 08:48:23

Well it was going ding, ding, ding in my head!

Hi Ella46

How can you have a favourite baby.
I have 2 daughters and 3 granddaughters with another grandchild on the way soon and you are supposed to like them equally.
Mind you if it is a boy he might get a bit more attention for a while as there have been no boys born in the closer family for over 50 years but I am sure if it is another girl nobody will complain.

Frank

Ella46 Thu 21-Mar-13 10:16:49

@Frank
It's very easy to have a favourite baby, as she is the only baby!
My other dgcs are not babies!

I love not like my dgc equally, and I don't need you to tell me how I should feel about them, thank you!

I hope when your latest grandchild is born that no one feels the need to complain about anything.
