on Sunday, then I believe it will show that this country has lost any small semblance of moral decency it was holding onto. And that the heads of a national institution have let all thoughts of ethical reasoning go out of the window in favour of political correctness.

I can only hope that it doesn't make number one.

But, my God, this country has sunk to an all-time low.

Very sad.

Elegran Wed 17-Apr-13 13:58:10

Yes Bags, just like that - except that all through it I was waiting for Fry & Laurie to get round to reverse polarity. I am sure they could make a sketch out of that phrase.

After watching Baroness Thatcher's Funeral yesterday I came to the happy conclusion that all the silly songs, daft parties, so called protestors and so on are of absolutely no consequence whatever. For every detractor there are many many supporters, typified by the huge and respectful crowds who lined the London Streets yesterday. The whole event was dignified, appropriate and fitting for an extraordinary woman who played a blinder on the national and international stage. I expect there will be rants to these remarks but do you know what - I don't care. Yesterday showed the reality.

Got in a while ago after a really lovely day.

It counteracted the sadness I felt about Lady Thatcher yesterday .

Went over to a friend with three others for lunch as the "chaps" have gone to Newmarket -racing.

We sat in her conservatory and it was lovely to see the breezes blowing around and the daffodils nodding their little heads ,while we were having a cosy chat amongst other things , about the funeral , and how much we admired the way it was handled.

It was generally agreed it was "The Tops". Well done to all concerned .

P.S. The lunch was delious also

smile

Golly gosh !

j08 Thu 18-Apr-13 19:24:15

shock I thought all that was behind us.

I explained fully on the thread at the time. Please look my answers up as I don't think I can be expected to go through all that again.

merlotgran Thu 18-Apr-13 19:24:23

Oh God. Here we go again. In the words of Ringo Starr......Peace and Love!

PHM12 Thu 18-Apr-13 19:31:28

I was not a Thatcher fan by any means she was a very divisive lady
The OTT reaction of the media has been has sickening.
This morning Anne Williams , one of the leaders of the fight for justice for the Hillsborough families, died.
This lady was respected by everyone from all over the country. I wonder if the media will give her death as much prominence. I think not!

You did not explain j08 and , no, it's certainly not behind me because I am still very angry about being vilified in the way I have been. You repeatedly accused me of being contemptible, horrible, etc. I appreciate that Boston may not have been in the forefront of your mind when you posted your "joke" but that was no excuse for then accusing me of being to blame for your failure of awareness and decency – the latter being a subject that is, apparently, dear to your heart.

j08 Thu 18-Apr-13 22:54:27

"That was a horrible remark to make"

"That remark was beyond contempt"

That was what I said. I did not call you contemptible or horrible, just the remark.

I am only continuing this because I see Gransnet have deleted one of your posts and not the other. Whether that is through laziness on their part,or any other strange reason they might have, I don't know. I'm beginning to give up on any kind of sensible moderation of this site.
