I have just been to do a bit of shopping in Sutton Coldfield and I met this lady who I knew I had met at one of my keep fit classes.
I assumed it would be one of my classes in the Birmingham area but she then moaned we met in one of my London classes.
What is the chance of meeting somebody you knew in London in a place like Sutton Coldfield?.

Met an ex work colleague in Hartford, CT airport.
Very weird. Nobody goes to Hartford!

Met someone I knew in a check in queue in HK once. They did not reprimand me.

Can't remeber the last time I was 'reprimanded'......perhaps I didn't enjoy it.

Bumped into someone I knew today. They didn't reprimand me either.

We once went on holiday and bumped into someone who worked in one of the companies my husband did a lot of work for. He was "playing the nick" from work (pretending to be sick) he asked my husband to "please forget that he had seen him" hmm

Met someone I used to work with outside John Lewis (where we met, not where we worked). Neither of us reprimanded the other.

What an interesting insight this gives. I expect the woman said something like "No, it wasn't here, it was in London."

I'm now wondering if a query such as "Are you still living in your father's house?" is taken as intrusive and grasping in the same kind of way.

Pure speculation on my part of course, but it feels as if light has been shed.

Come to think of it the last time I was reprimanded was by my DiL when I climbed over the back gate, then up a ladder to the bathroom window, in an attempt to break into the house after locking myself out.

Reprimanded , what a charming old fashioned word .

Still it goes with the territory .

wink

I reprimanded my brother in law for not letting me know he had been quite ill these last few days. I then made a cheesy fish dish this morning for him -easy to heat and easy for him to eat. He says he is off meat at the moment (used to be a great meat eater). He has just phoned to say he was just heating it up now. "Reprimand" must have done him good wink

So would the cheesy fish dish, Elizabeth1. Concern shown by a reprimand followed by a treat! That will be doubly effective.

Met someone I knew at school - and Brownies - in the Nairobi supermarket.

I have met people I knew in London in the New Street area of Birmingham when they have been on courses etc.
When I retired a few people told me nobody goes from London to Birmingham to retire.
I know 15 people who worked in the same building as me in London who are now living within 25 miles of Birmingham.
As far as I am aware I am the closest one to Birmingham City Centre.

And haven"t they made a lovely job of New Street ??

Could have put a few more escalators in though !!

Bags Tue 07-May-13 15:19:25

I hope you reprimanded them for their ignorance then, Frank smile

Followed an old school friend all around town trying to catch her up to say hi. When I finally caught up with her I said "you used to be ... Herring didn't you?" she replied "No, I was ... Haddock" oops!!!

My DH was once filling up the car at a remote filling station in the Hebrides when someone called out "Are you Brian the Butterfly Man" my DH cautiously said he indeed was "I've seen you give a talk in Biggleswade" what's the chance and so far away, He has also been recognised backing out on his knees and bum first from our room on Skomer by someone recognising his voice. They came from the next town to us.

Outside the loos on Southwold Prom I came out of the ladies to hear a man say to his wife "Guess who I have just seen in the loo?" Yes it was my DH again.

Oops is this tread about being reprimanded or meeting someone from a while ago? Have I gone of track AGAIN????
