First on the list should be Tegan's ferret (it will deal with her rodent problem!)

I'm working tomorrow, but Dd and DGD are coming to stay for a a couple of days. She complains that her in laws can't make decisions!
But I have no idea how long she's staying for?
She has to be back at work on Monday so it can't be later than Sunday?

Marelli Mon 27-May-13 22:33:39

Have a great time, glass! Just what the doctor ordered! grin

Sel Mon 27-May-13 22:47:36

Oh Marelli I stand corrected, especially if your run involved a hill. Respect smile

It's funny I find when you catch bus or train after running and find a seat and attempt to look cool, calm and collected. Like, this wasn't a problem, running smile

Ana Mon 27-May-13 22:50:45

I suppose you can keep the smell of most things down by bathing them...grin

Ana Mon 27-May-13 22:52:10

But I wouldn't want to chance bathing a non-friendly ferret...hmm

Tegan Mon 27-May-13 23:04:57

I've reached episode 6 of Broadchurch and still haven't been told whodidit; although they were playing it in Sainsburys today when I was there [but the S.O. and I both agreed that they wouldn't be daft enough to show the end..not if they wanted to seel the dvd's anyway]. And I've just realised I bought Laura Marlings new cd there today and it's in my bag and I haven't played it yet. Ferret isn't mine; I've been told of a ferret man in the next village. Not sure who he is but perhaps I can sniff him out smile?

Crikey Tegan I'm amazed you've managed to avoid hearing who dunnit! I thought of you tonight with the programme about the Queen and her horses. Thought it was very good. It explained why some people just adore horses, excellent stuff.

Listening to ELO at Wembley in 1978 on BBC4

My writers' group tomorrow. I'm in the middle of writing some slam poetry - hope I get it finished.

Oh, and it just started raining which means I don't have to water the garden, and can't do a heavy gardening job I'd planned.

And Time Team is on the telly tonight.

And all the ironing is finished.

kittylester Tue 28-May-13 05:34:06

The blinking pigeon that sits on the wire outside our bedroom window didn't start cooing until 5.20 this morning - must be the rain!

Feeling totally cheerful this morning .....

my rescue spaniel (a new companion for young spaniel who has gone blind) has been with me a month, and her recall has been hopeless ......she dawdled behind on every walk, sniffing for extended periods while I stood and called until I was hoarse.
Finally had enough this morning, as it was drizzling, and (murmuring b*** you then) carried on walking around the corner into the next field.
Cue: one dog running after me at full speed grin

Moral of the story: patience may be a virtue, but not when you have a very intelligent dog!

...now having a celebration [coffee]

My sister is happy, her sock has reappeared a week after being eaten by her puppy! She doesn't plan on re-uniting it with its partner. The surgical glove took 24 hours to re-emerge. hmm

Nelliemoser Tue 28-May-13 10:25:23

OGM grin

petallus Tue 28-May-13 10:32:17

I've finally managed to open an Online Saver Account after four goes.

It's raining which is wonderful for the little plants I put in the garden yesterday.

Ariadne Tue 28-May-13 11:38:37

After my mammogram this afternoon (!) DD, DGD1 and I are off to see "The Great Gatsby" followed by an Italian meal. DD is 48 tomorrow! (Same age as our marriage grin

Then, off to France on Thursday on the Plymouth to Roscoff ferry, on which we have booked a "de luxe" cabin...

kittylester Tue 28-May-13 12:07:07

Enjoy all of it Ariadne Hope you manage to steer clear of the virus! grin

I've found the 100 euros that DH lost over the weekend. It was at the FRONT of his bedside drawer confused

kittylester Tue 28-May-13 13:40:14

I stopped 6 snails on their march towards my hostas. I got soaked in the process but it was worth it! grin

However, I didn't manage to stop the ones making for the coriander in my new herb bed and, had I known they were as partial to the stuff as we are, I would have continued to buy it from Sainsbury's rather than planting 3 lots in the garden angry

janthea Tue 28-May-13 14:07:04

Kittylester I LOVE hostas, but have never managed to keep them from being eaten.

janthea Tue 28-May-13 14:09:10

Joan Spooky!! - you writing about slam poetry (of which I had never heard) and then heard it mentioned by Zoe Ball on the Chris Evans radio programme this morning. He son had written some.

Movedalot Tue 28-May-13 15:55:25

My hostas near the pool never get eaten but the ones at the side of the house do. I'm told grit puts the slugs off but I use slug killer!

Reasons to be cheerfull:

GS2 took 2 steps, stopped to clap himself then took 2 more. Now he is walking around looking bemused!
I put grass seed down at the weekend and it is raining on it.
The ornamental grasses we dug out will not dry out so I have time to give them away on Freecycle.
Being taken out to dinner tonight by friends because it was my birthday last week
Went to the gym this morning and managed to up the weights on most machines

I seem to have quite a list today smile

Nonu Tue 28-May-13 16:03:46

The fact that I am in North America and the sun is shining and touch wood we have dodged the Tornado"s so far .

Ana Tue 28-May-13 16:05:06

Hello Nonu smile
Glad you're enjoying your hols!

FlicketyB Tue 28-May-13 16:52:46

After 5 hours of driving through heavy rain and traffic we are now back home, the heating is on and we both have a nice cup of tea.

moomin Tue 28-May-13 17:00:35

My reason to be happy is we have chosen our retired greyhound and she will be coming home in 3 weeks time, once we are back from our hols smile
