Didn't you have a luvverly time, can't continue as Lochgilphead just doesn't fit.
I've just opened a parcel AND it's from Gransnet AND it's a super book, just right for my holibobs next week! How do I thank them?
It's called 'Mutton' and is about mid-life crisis, do you think it might precipitate late onset MLC?
Better have a cuppa and calm down, who's pouring? smile

Ana Thu 29-Aug-13 16:04:12

Glad to see you looking so much better, soop! smile

finocchio Thu 29-Aug-13 16:05:42

A red-letter-smiley day! smile

I've had a peep at the photos and wow Soop - restored to your lovely self! (well just a bit of bruising left maybe?). Glad you had a good catch-up with thatbags.

P.S. Love your red shoes! I always wanted red shoes as a little girl but was never allowed them as my Mama said they were "common".

Just left you a lemon drizzle cake and some coconut macaroons to help feed the hoards attracted to your welcoming kitchen! smile

Thank you, soop, for a lovely time smile.

(don't believe a word she says about that date slice! Well, except that she ate it!wink She bought me one too. I brought it home and have just scoffed it. Yum Yum!)

Love the new pics Soop and Bags, glad you had a good meet up and lunch.

Late again but I just thought I would pop in to say hallo. Is there by any wonderful chance some Horlicks tucked in your cupboard I am off tea or coffee tonight. Hope my fellow insomniacs have a better night tonight.

Had a good time with younger grandson yesterday and today he talks for England. Mind you he has run me ragged and I am fit for nothing now. If you find me curled up in the corner when you come in tomorrow please wake me up and send me home.

Good morning to all my good friends. It's a greyish day in bonnie Kintyre. The sea is skittish...a bit like Rory when he decides to go into what my Nana would call, "a flat spin!"

Yesterday's meet with Bags was a real treat. Thank you for all your kind comments.

Last evening, the builder on whom we had pinned our final hopes re the new hoos, spent a long time with Mr soop. They discussed all the expenses that would need to be met [plus a few that may lurk in the wings]. When Mr soop came into the room to tell me that, even if our present home sold for the top asking price, the venture to move to the orchard plot is not viable, I saw tears in his eyes. He has worked tirelessly on this project. His sense of disappointment has hit me hard. I accept that all costings connected with house building have rocketed. They are not going to come down. We'll now explore other possibilities. I feel strong and resolute enough to cope with whatever happens from hereon. Thank you for listening. I shall have a large cup of coffee and an imaginary date slice. wink

Ana Fri 30-Aug-13 12:00:15

Oh, soop, I'm so sorry you won't be able to go ahead with the orchard project. That's very sad news...sad flowers

Ana Mr soop is back in the loft [going over figures with the proverbial fine-tooth comb]. We've agreed that, by the end of today, we'll have a new way forward. I believe that hope should be nurtured - but NOT if it's based on totally unrealistic expectations. He says that I'm wonderful. Excuse me, it is Mr soop who deserves all the praise for being totally committed and steadfast. sunshine

Sorry about that. The coffee hasn't kicked in yet. hmm

Ana Fri 30-Aug-13 12:23:45

You both deserve praise, soop! smile You're both wonderful. I'm sure that between you, you'll come up with something feasible and affordable.

Elegran Fri 30-Aug-13 12:25:11

A bummer Soop I do hope that you can explore all th eoptions you can think of and come up with a solution. There was a mention in another thread of park homes. Would one of them do the trick?

soop Fri 30-Aug-13 12:36:30

smile Thank you.

Elegran We have no intention of leaving the village. We went through hell and high water to settle here. It's where we call "home". The village is small. There are no properties to rent and any houses on the market are well beyond our budget. Mr soop's file is stuffed with just about every option under the sun. The fact is that the home we are selling isn't valuable [in cash terms]. To us, it's precious. We thought that the wee orchard plot was just right because of it's proximity to the village. A short walk to the shop. A cabin home would not be granted permission on the plot. It is a sensitive area, apparently. I think that what has floored Mr soop is the escalation of building costs. Over the ten years we've lived here, they have trebled.

Ariadne Fri 30-Aug-13 12:47:05

Oh, soop I am so sorry to hear this! You are both wonderful people and it would be so good to see you fulfilling your dream. Let's hope something happens somehow.

Bez Fri 30-Aug-13 13:12:18

Soop is it not possible to remain where you are? I know you must have reasons for wanting to move but maybe something could change/be changed to make it a viable proposition to remain there. I am so sorry that it is not just smoothly working out as you thought and hoped.
We wanted to move and sell this house a few years ago but that did not happen so we have made some changes to the house, and fortunately Mr Bez is feeling much better health wise, so we are staying put for a while - although I still hanker after moving nearer to a village!! flowers

LizG Fri 30-Aug-13 14:03:27

(((hugs))) to you soop and also to the lovely ladies have made me feel better recently.

numberplease Fri 30-Aug-13 15:42:33

So sorry about your setback Soop, but you and Mr Soop are very resourceful, I`m sure you`ll find a suitable solution, pity it can`t be staying put!

moomin Fri 30-Aug-13 16:32:20

Oh how disappointing soop and how upsetting for you both. All that hard work Mr soop has done with designs and so forth.

From your photos you live in an utterly beautiful spot and I hope you can take comfort from that. You are both so resourceful, I'm sure you will be able to find a way through this x

finocchio Fri 30-Aug-13 17:01:41

Will you join me in a G &t soop? It's been 'one of those days for you hasn't it - and I've had one too. Salut! smile ...... and of course anyone else who fancies one is welcome. Virtual bottle - so plenty for all.
