Okay!!! The messages from so many lovely people have gone to my heart. My head has been over-ruled.
soop's kitchen is a cosy place. You lot are invited to drop in for a wee chat on whatever matter moves you.
Rory welcomes you with a purr. xxx
Lovely photos Granny23
Sorry your plans have come to naught soop but pleased you and Mr soop have found peace of mind
Soop, I really hope that you and Mr. Soop have found a solution that will truly benefit you all. Love and best wishes from all of us, including Mia and the spirit of Pepper, two of your artistic subjects.
Soop just helping myself to a
, thanks.
I'm glad you feel better - sometimes just making the decision is the hardest bit, and I suspect it might be what you really wanted all along.
I would just echo anno's good advice re equity release - shop around, and make sure you're aware of any risks before you sign on the dotted line.
Granny23 what lovely photos, and also of your daughter's wedding.
Isn't it nice to make the decision soop? I was of the same opinion as jane, I didn't feel it was really what you wanted as you seem to love your house so much.
I'm very pleased that you and Mr soop have reached a decision you are both happy about, soop - and I'm sure Rory is too!
I am glad that you have made your decision, dear soop, and I am sure that you won't regret it. Your wee house is you, somehow. Give Mr Soop a hug, and have one yourself.
Mr soop loves a hug
for which he thanks you, Ariadne
Thank you so much for the link anno we shall indeed look at all the options. It's good to have something positive to look forward to.
You are all so supportive. Just discussing all the ups, downs, frustrations galore with you lot has helped to keep me sane...well, as sane as I shall ever be
thatbags knows what I mean.
The sun is shining and the view is glorious. Three canvas chairs on the "terrace"...Rory already bagged his favourite. Wee dram to celebrate the close of a very long and trying time.
Huge hug for every one of you from Mr soop and me.
Well I popped in for glass of something and some of those olives if there are any left but I'll certainly have a hug as well. Hugs back to you and Mr.soop.
You sound more relaxed already soop and we get to carry on seeing your lovely sunsets.
soop. Good that you and the lovely Mr. Soop have made a decision, hope the discussions and future plans are successful
I am just back from a 3 day trip to Northumberland. We (my friend Caroline and I) stayed in Bellingham in a Fawlty Towers hotel
's all round. Visited Keilder and spent a day in Alnwick in the Castle gardens. The weather was glorious and we had an idyllic drive back through the border country this afternoon. In my absence the new garden shed has been erected so I have spent the last couple of hours filling it up and then cutting the grass. Have just emptied my suitcase to find the cough mixture (I have a delightful chest infection) has managed to empty itself from its plastic bag all over the contents
Definitely time for a small libation. See you all for breakfast
Did you stay at Riverdale Hall Gally?
Yes!
I've popped in here as my kitchen now has no sink, no hob, no water, no gas, nothing in it! My new tops arrive tomorrow and are going to take all day to fit. If its not too late the plumber will then return to refit hob, sink etc:
I'm feeling bereft! And it's not even as though I'm particularly domesticated!
I've brought some vodka and cinzano bianco with me? Please help yourselves, I'm going to sulk in a corner!
We've stayed there a few times Gally and really like it!
Haven't had Cinzano for years! Will help myself to some now, thanks Galen
Enjoy!
jane. We liked it too and the staff were all lovely, but it has a certain feeling of delapidation about it. Just needs an injection of about £million! Swimming pool was really bad - mouldy and damp with peeling walls and the basin in my bathroom was cracked in 2 places. Changed to another room for the 2nd night as the kitchen fan whirred all night preventing any sleep. Got in the shower in the 2nd room and the whole shower fitting fell off into the bath
but I managed to shove it back in place - it wisnae me, honest! It was very busy, full of 60+ couples - think there must have been a Groupon offer!
galen just stop sulking. Your kitchen will be lovely when it's finished, so it will be worth the inconvenience. Have another drinkie
There's a nice side of fresh poached salmon here - Galen thought you might like some for your supper given your present absence of kitchen facilities. Please tuck in - homemade mayonnaise in the little brown dish and there's a plate of brown bread and butter too.
Soop it sounds as though fate has decided that you should stay put - that means you keep your beautiful view and your lovely home and best of all this kitchen which we have all taken over! (Plus Rory won't get all confused and upset by a change of location)
Gally that's terrible
!! The pool was fine when we were there early July and no bits fell off in the bathroom
I think the present owners have been there for 30+ years and are probably not wanting to spend a lot invest in it now. We got the impression (and hoped) that the next generation was waiting in the wings to take over.
We thought it was great value for money - dinner B&B for £80 per person, and the dinner was four courses from the a la carte menu, interesting food and well-cooked.
We wanted to go again for a night at the end of July, but it was fully booked
Thanks. I've just had a piece of chocolate.
Having a takeout curry tomorrow.
Bed soon.
Had 3 interpreted cases today , Somali, Arabic and French. They are very tiring. I'm to bed soon.
Standing on the edge of a galaxy
Last night at our back door.
Cold, clean air and bright stars
Startlingly clear and sharp.
And when our heads stopped swimming
From gazing upward so hard,
We looked faintly and then more surely
Into our own astonishing Milky Way.
Hi, please may I have a cup of tea. My milkman has taken away the empties but not left me any milk.
bags we missed the starry sky due to cloud down south last night.
No star, as the welsh might say!,
It's chucking it down out there! A welcome cup of tea whilst I dry out. I woke up earlier and it was dark, but yesterday at the same time the sun was streaming through the window. I think I'll make some soup and bread this morning. Be back later with supplies.
Dull. Waiting for granite men to come and fit my new work tops in the kitchen.
