Okay!!! The messages from so many lovely people have gone to my heart. My head has been over-ruled.

soop's kitchen is a cosy place. You lot are invited to drop in for a wee chat on whatever matter moves you.

Rory welcomes you with a purr. xxx

Wow soop that's amaze-balls grin Clever old Bags! There was definitely a reason for you to stay put - wonderful place for the work-of-art - couldn't better it!

Gally Mon 09-Sept-13 18:45:04

Galen go for it.... I'm on the 5:2 today but have just sinned - slurping a glass of chilled Viognier while waiting for my meagre supper to cook [hangs head in shame]. BUT, on the upside I did spend 4 hours cleaning my bedroom, even shifting the wardrobes to remove cobwebs lurking behind, so I must have used up an amazing amount of calories ?

Galen Mon 09-Sept-13 18:46:42

You hope!smile

Grannyeggs there is a very comfortable chair with plump cushions that has been reserved for you. How lovely to see you again. You don't have to bring anything to the kitchen...just yourself. On the other hand, a chocolate cake sounds too good to miss. wink

I'm in the mood for house decorating. Non-drip paint and two spanking new brushes. I'll stay for a nice cup of coffee and then I really do need to start the jobs I've elected to tackle.

Rory sends purrs. He's doing what cats do so well...washing his face and making a very thorough job of washing behind his ears. grin

soop Tue 10-Sept-13 11:20:15

Gally you have my respect wink Keep up the good work. I'll have your share of bags's cookies. Shame to let them go stale. hmm

Grannyeggs Tue 10-Sept-13 18:21:06

Soop thanks. I'm coming in for a bit of a warm up, any soup on the go that would be nice.Good luck with the decorating.

Ah, sanctuary! Some convivial company, a glass of wine and a little corner where I can relaxxxxxxxx.......smile

Oldgreymare Wed 11-Sept-13 08:07:21

Bonjour...just paying a virtual visit from the sunny South of France! Kisses on both cheeks xx
This is an experiment as I am new to the iPad!

thatbags Wed 11-Sept-13 08:08:43

Hope you're having fun, and warm weather, ogm! smile

Oldgreymare Wed 11-Sept-13 08:23:14

Basking in very warm sunshine, mixing 'culture' in too!

soop Wed 11-Sept-13 11:57:09

A very good morning to the happy band of friends chatting merrily away in the kitchen. It's a greyish day in bonnie Kintyre but there will always be a warm welcome in the kitchen.

OGM It's lovely to have news of your visit to the sunny South of France. Sounds very exotic. Culture's good for you...that and good food and wine and a little romance. wink

when - as you appear to be dozing and Rory is sharing your lap, I won't disturb either of you. Sweet dreams smile

bags I'm experimenting with the "alcove space", to the rear of which is your work of art. I've put the tall wood vase elsewhere and have arranged my collection of "treen" creatures in front of it. They are less obstructive. Will take a pic and show you later.

Have some decorating to do after a vast mug of coffee has worked it's magic grin

Bez Wed 11-Sept-13 12:03:03

I have been so busy dealing with plums, apples and tomatoes that have hardly had time to pop in here. Nice everyone is having a convivial cuppa or glass and a good old chat.

Gally Wed 11-Sept-13 17:12:03

I still have a 'orrible wheezy coughy chest. Can I sit in the corner very quietly (apart from the hacking) and have a lovely cup of tea and a slice of something naughty please?

kittylester Wed 11-Sept-13 17:16:20

I've just finished the ironing so I've brought an ever expanding bar of dark chocolate with almonds (Aldi's best). Help yourselves and I'll brew a fresh pot of tea and bring you one over Gally brew

Ariadne Wed 11-Sept-13 17:30:03

Oh, kitty can I have some too, please? It is a rainy night in Devon so I have come here for warmth and comfort. (Untill T goes out, then I'll turn the heating up a bit!)

Gally Wed 11-Sept-13 17:30:46

Oooh, yummy. Is the chocolate like the loaves and fishes grin

kittylester Wed 11-Sept-13 17:47:33

Definitely (I wish). Naturally, it has no calories at all grin

Grannylin Wed 11-Sept-13 18:00:15

Oh no Ariadne! it's started raining here as well.I mowed the lawn this afternoon and I've left the mower out...and I've got to go up into the field to put the chickens away..pour me a brew and save me a cupcake if there are any going, I 'll be back....

soop Thu 12-Sept-13 11:02:58

Good morning to you all. Have popped in for a big mug of fresh coffee. Delicious. Sorry to find that the choc cake is but a pile of sticky crumbs. When we next visit Lochgilphead I shall return with goodly supply of sticky date slices. Enough for everyone grin

Mr soop is in Campbeltown. The car is having a full service in preparation for the long drive to Rutland. At this time next week we'll be on our way for the annual family gathering. Our good, kind friends will be taking care of the house and Rory in our absence.

I'm gradually crossing off the few outstanding painting jobs. It's good to give our wee hoos a face-lift. A good mate of ours will be decorating the sitting room sometime soon. Since we reached the decision to stay put, we've been blest with a much-needed spurt of enthusiasm.

I've some laundry to sort and iron. Lovely to have your company. I shall return for afternoon tea and a slice of something wickedly calorific wink

whenim64 Thu 12-Sept-13 11:18:19

I've just picked the last strawberries and made some scones, so help yourself to these. Anyone happen to have some thick cream?

Nelliemoser Thu 12-Sept-13 11:25:41

Yes please to the scones! I will bring the cream if someone will give me masterclass on making scones. I always seem to get it wrong.

whenim64 Thu 12-Sept-13 11:33:05

Buttermilk, an egg and a teaspoon of baking powder, Nellie. Sends 'em sky high and fluffy inside in just 12 minutes in a hot oven.

soop Thu 12-Sept-13 12:53:57

thatbags has been baking flapjacks. She'll be along later...grin

Lona Thu 12-Sept-13 14:02:54

I'm off to Wales tomorrow and we have the most delicious scones, with lashings of cream and jam, as soon as we arrive!

In fact, food seems to play a large part in our decision to go there! wink

Unfortunately nothing is calorie free, unlike soop's kitchen.
So, when, as I know your scones are famously good, I'll have one now please, with a nice cuppa!

soop Thu 12-Sept-13 15:04:49

Me too, please. Gooseberry jam would be perfect. Have fun tomorrow, Lona

Just taking a breather from painting and decorating. My shoulder is aching slightly. Rory is fast asleep on Mr soop's lap. He, Mr soop, has toothache. Nasty pain. Off to see the dentist tomorrow.
