Okay!!! The messages from so many lovely people have gone to my heart. My head has been over-ruled.

soop's kitchen is a cosy place. You lot are invited to drop in for a wee chat on whatever matter moves you.

Rory welcomes you with a purr. xxx

That sounds like the perfect send-off soop, but not too soon, please!

soop Sat 19-Oct-13 16:04:25

anno there's plenty of good life left in the pair of us. About to have a large mug of tea and a choc biscuit. There's also a wee dram for those who like a good, 14 year old malt distilled on the nearby island of Arran. Slainte!

POGS Sat 19-Oct-13 16:26:08

Soop

Did I just hear Alex Salmond say "Slainte to Soop" at the SNP Conference a moment ago???

Blimey. you do have friends in High Places.wine grin

annodomini Sat 19-Oct-13 16:42:13

Whew! Thank goodness for that, soop!

soop Sat 19-Oct-13 16:50:10

POGS Maybe he's heard about me on the Kintyre Scotsvine. Personally, I think that he emits a lot of hot air. I cannot take him seriously. However...wine here's to your good health...and yours, anno

I'm ready to close the computer down until tomorrow morning. There's a newspaper to read and a cat to make happy [it's roast chicken tonight] and our Rory is already waiting, wide-eyed and bushy-tailed, not too far from the oven. wink

Enjoy the remains of the day. smile

Soop

Lucky you, have a good evening. wine

Good morning to you all. Heck...it's past midday, so, good afternoon to you all. I'm enjoying a decent cup of coffee. Sadly, no bags's flapjacks left from yesterday. Never mind, a buttery shortbread biscuit will do nicely. We've nutty/crusty bread and smoked salmon to look forward to.

It's a mild day with a big grey sky. Pockets of blue sky, here and there.

Oldgreymare Sun 20-Oct-13 15:34:09

Can I come in for a quick zizz? Do you think anyone will notice if I put my feet up on the chaise for 5 minutes. Tea and cake when I wake up later would be nice. I always used to bake on a Sunday but have got out of the habit, perhaps someone will arrive with a freshly-baked broonie, it is the season for them, I think.....

LizG Sun 20-Oct-13 15:46:11

OH came up with a brilliant notion when I got back from church; lunch at the local Greek Restaurant. It was delicious but I am not keen on Greek coffee so I thought I would pop in here if that is okay. Perhaps I could curl up in the corner to snooze whilst my food goes down smile

Charleygirl Sun 20-Oct-13 16:09:57

I may join Rory in the queue for some roast chicken.

soop Sun 20-Oct-13 16:25:15

Oldgreymare You, my dear, are welcome to zizz for as long as you like.
LizG Greek food, aye! I love the sticky syrupy puds, can't remember the name of them. And, you're so right, the coffee is an acquired taste.
Charleygirl I shall make you a delicious cold chicken and watercress bap.
Rory has had a hectic day. Slept from breakfast time 'til two hours ago. Whinged for late lunch. Ate every morsel. Went outside. Got very wet. Came in. Was dried with kitchen towel. Now asleep [in my chair]. wink

Oldgreymare Sun 20-Oct-13 17:25:55

Thanks Soop
Must be that hibernating time of year, lots of sleepy creatures (?) about!
I'm still swapping my 'wardrobe' over, summer to winter, with the usual annual reluctance. I think once that is done and the clocks go back, I shall accept the inevitable and give in gracefully to the change of season.
Ho hum!

Charleygirl Sun 20-Oct-13 17:32:09

Oh Yummy, thanks for that Soop. My cat Tara has done everything today that Rory did except get wet. She woke up at 3pm and is now asleep again.

LizG Sun 20-Oct-13 22:00:23

Oh my! I've just woken up. That'll teach me not to eat so much lunch. Now I won't sleep tonight but I was really comfy, thank you. It's lovely and warm here.

Ariadne Mon 21-Oct-13 11:49:08

kittylester is on her way over - beat you to it, kitty! We are running away from the unpleasantness elsewhere.

I've brought what's left of my chocolate fudge cake, but it's one of those regenerating ones, so do help yourselves! Is there any coffee going? Ooh, I need a sit down. Have been trying out my new steam cleaner in the en suite shower cubicle, and it was quite hard work. Phew! [thismile]

Ariadne Mon 21-Oct-13 11:50:12

smile Sod Hallowe'en thingies.

kittylester Mon 21-Oct-13 12:06:29

I'm here!! Is it safe Ariadne thlgrin

Tried to sort my desk out before I came in here but I'm fed up with that so I've brought a big vat of chicken broth over that I made yesterday. It tastes very healthy but it's ok, it's not really! thlgrin

Anyone got any crusty bread to go with it? Then I'd like a piece of fudge cake please. There's nothing like fudge cake to make things better. cupcake

Ceesnan Mon 21-Oct-13 13:18:36

Ariadne does the steam cleaner get gunge off grout? My bathroom is fine apart from really discoloured grout and I'm looking for an alternative to scraping it out and re-grouting?

soop Mon 21-Oct-13 13:52:46

It's a huge treat to come into the kitchen and discover that you lot are relaxing and making yourselves useful baking cakes having fun.
Ariadne Did I hear you mention fudge cake! Oh, okay, if you insist, just a wee slab to go with my coffee. I'm with you on that funny thingy. Prefer the simple grin.
Charleygirl Rory caught a wee mouse an hour ago. He looked all lofty and important when he deposited it on the terrace. Tara is a pretty name for a cat.
Kitty Chicken broth and crusty bread...delicious!
OGM keep sorting that wardrobe of yours. You will feel chuffed when the job's done.
Ceesnan I'm almost certain that steam removes gunge from grout. A friend of mine has a special gadget that multi-tasks.
LizG hope that you feel refreshed. I've been gloss painting the sitting room window sills and skirting board. I thought that it would be a doddle. In fact, it's taken an age and I'm hot and bothered. Getting up and down from a kneeling position tires my back. All I can add is...thank goodness for turps!
We're to have the flu jab this afternoon. Meeting villagers in the community hall, is like having a party. We get treated to tea and biscuits after the deed. grin

Anne58 Mon 21-Oct-13 13:52:58

Cees try spraying with Dettol Mould and Mildew remover and leaving it on for a fair while. I did that and then used the steam mop after.

soop Mon 21-Oct-13 13:54:37

A useful tip, phoenix smile

Lona Mon 21-Oct-13 14:57:48

Oh dear, jings has just been and gone again. sad

Lona Mon 21-Oct-13 14:59:14

I think I'll have a dash of brandy in my coffee please soop, and a huge wedge of fudge cake, then I'll feel guilty instead of sad smile

Nelliemoser Mon 21-Oct-13 15:01:39

For cat and dog lovers. Enjoy this funny video with your tea and fudge cake. My DS posted it on FB.
