I've just spent an absolute age reading about the antics of you lot I prepared to post and the screen goes blank. Most miffed! Anyways, start again...Mornin' all. Less of your cheek, jings, there's a broken egg on the floor. I did a first class skid on "my rag rug" from one side of the kitchen to the other and almost fell A over T into the bucket. Rory is chuffed to have read [without specs] today's fan mail. He approves of thatbags suggestion. In fact, he's asked me to post a pic in my album of him "chilling out"...whatever's in the pheromone plug-in thingy, seems to be therapeutic. It's a beautiful day and I've been taking a leisurely amble with the camera ready to snap anything of interest. It only took us an hour to walk the half mile around the village. wink A lady stopped us and picked some gorgeous Sweet Peas. Well, we had to have a blether...
I really am DELIGHTED to find so many lovely people in the kitchen. Gransnet has expanded to such an extent that I often felt cut off from my best mates. Everyone is welcome to come to the kitchen. Companionship is what they will find. It's a place to be relaxed and comfortable enough to discuss any subject under the sun...or simply enjoy being part of the crowd, and remaining silent. smile sunshine flowers

soop Sat 24-Aug-13 13:07:59

Will add latest pic of "laid-back" Rory very soon. grin

soop Sat 24-Aug-13 13:16:28

j08 Sat 24-Aug-13 13:40:48

I will of course be very quiet as always.

Sorry about that egg. #pleasedon'tbruisebumtomatchface

soop Sat 24-Aug-13 14:07:05

Quiet? Quiet! Wash you mouth out jings your banter is always welcome wink

We are having a blustery day here - towels on the line blowing away - lovely to come into the warm calm of the kitchen Soop glad Rory is settled and does not mind the constant opening and closing of the door.
Has anyone baked a cake for this afternoon - I could pop home and get the remains of the apple pie I made yesterday. Will go and look at the photos now - shame your face is not yet back to normal Soop is it still painful? brew cupcake

soop Sat 24-Aug-13 14:29:14

Bez Apple pie and a dollop of custard...yes please.
Washing blowing on the line is a lovely sight. It will smell beautifully fresh. Rory has a new pic...for the fans that adore him. He's becoming more sociable. At one time he spat and growled at the postman. Pete, the postie, can get very close to him these days.
The head hurt for 24 hours. In fact, I thought that it was about to burst. Thereafter, the eyes blackened and every facial feature swelled. The pain faded away. I've still a lump over my eye and on the bridge of the nose. These are tender, not painful. My cheeks are dusky purple/green. Very fetching.
There is a touch of autumn in the air. We shall be toasting crumpets very soon. Thickly spread with real butter. grin

Greatnan Sat 24-Aug-13 14:36:16

After weeks of glorious weather, we have had a spectacular storm today and it is quite a relief. I have an excuse to spend the day reading and listening to Radio 4 and watching Ken Hom in China, then we have Wild China, which makes me want to explore.
Apparently, the Chinese eat about one third as much meat as we do with a meal, relying mainly on vegetables. I like that idea - I can make one chicken leg into a thick soup that lasts me for three days. Shall I bring a pan of it along?

Ella46 Sat 24-Aug-13 14:37:15

Just been having another look at your photos soop, and I think that the wee man and you are sooo alike when you are both smiling smile

I've washed a load of cups and mugs,a lot of tea has been drunk, and thank goodness jings has mopped up all the cake crumbs. Anyway the tea towels are drying on the Aga now.

soop Sat 24-Aug-13 14:43:47

Ella You've made this Nana very happy. Isn't it funny how we enjoy hearing that our grandchildren look like us.
Greatnan the soup will go down well with thatbags home baked bread.

Gagagran Sat 24-Aug-13 15:37:11

Just had a look at the pics of Rory, soop - what a very handsome boy he is. He reminds me so much of my much loved and missed, the late Clotto (real name Clio!) I hope his nervous disposition soon improves.

Have your family seen the technicolour bruises? I was wondering if the wee man was frightened? It must have been very painful for you - hope you are feeling more yourself.

I've left a fresh batch of scones in the kitchen and some homemade strawberry jam and clotted cream for any partakers of afternoon tea. smile
