A lovely day today!
When checking my bank account, I found my Cardiff pension had been payed in.
I had a cup of coffee at the tribunal. The Judge made it for me! I really enjoyed it as I was thirsty.

whenim64 Fri 30-Aug-13 21:56:49

That's very welcome, bikergran. We should all congregate in soop's kitchen and relax smile

bikergran Fri 30-Aug-13 21:59:28

do you think soop will still be up? I'm sure she wouldnt' mind if we crept in quietly, and for all you drinkers others, I think the banter bar may still be open grin

whenim64 Fri 30-Aug-13 22:05:18

She's just come down in her curlers, taken one look and gone back to bed! grin

annodomini Fri 30-Aug-13 22:08:05

This thread went a bit OTTdid it not? I hope tempers have cooled and that some people have recovered their sense of humour not to mention proportion. It never warranted all the heat which was generated did it?

moomin Sat 31-Aug-13 09:11:35

Just read the last evening's "goings-on" and it is sad to see the usual suspects being their usual unpleasant selves. What a shame. Let's hope this morning those responsible can zip it, leave Galen alone and start being a little more grown up!

soop's kitchen looks like the best place to be at times like this smile

whenim64 Sat 31-Aug-13 09:24:08

Good morning, Galen. I hope you are ok today and look forward to seeing you chatting on the threads later smile flowers

Movedalot Sat 31-Aug-13 10:13:29

I rather think Galen was joking when she said she would leave! Maybe we should all say it and then we can all be begged to stay? grin

Love 'wooden spoonology', never heard it before.

I miss loads by logging off early evening. What a lot you guys get up to!

Greatnan Sat 31-Aug-13 10:22:00

You are quite wrong, Movedalot. Galen was very upset and it took a lot of persuading by her friends to get her to stay.

Divawithattitude Sat 31-Aug-13 10:25:45

This thread exemplifies the reasons why I rarely post on Gransnet, having been there at the very start and watched the site grow.

annodomini Sat 31-Aug-13 10:30:42

Sad, isn't it, Diva. Gransnet was a very nice place at the very beginning. And it still is a good place to be if you choose the right threads. Unfortunately, there are some posters who have the knack of turning a well-intentioned, humorous thread into something unpleasant and threatening.

Greatnan Sat 31-Aug-13 10:37:58

I don't think everybody who threatens to leave gets begged to stay!

thatbags Sat 31-Aug-13 10:43:00

galen, you're the only one who has a cat in hell's chance of understanding what I'm talking about when I go into Lady Barebow mode!! I need you!

yours sincerely,
LadyBarebowBags

bikergran Sat 31-Aug-13 10:46:43

We mustn't let GN get like Fbook ! (Fbook is ok but does have it's social problems) I think we are all a pretty happy bunch overall..time for brew

Elegran Sat 31-Aug-13 10:56:31

Good morning, happy campers. I hope you had a nice time raiding Soops larder.

I went and watched Diana Rigg as Mrs Bradbury and fantasised about her relationship with her chauffeur. I can't drive, do you think I should get a chauffeur? One like George?

whenim64 Sat 31-Aug-13 10:57:04

Yes, Gransnet has it's own culture, more concerned and caring, quicker to object to abuse because we know the likely consequences. Mumsnet is informative and up to speed wth lots of issues, but quite ruthless at times when doubt is expressed about relationships, particularly where ex-partners are concerned. Facebook is a minefield - especially when a few wine have been consumed!

soop Sat 31-Aug-13 11:42:28

A bonnie bright morning to you all. I trust that you slept well and are ready to face the challenges of a new day.
Elegran grin
I always turn off my 'puter at 5.30-ish. I usually log on about mid morning. This means that I haven't a clue as to the why's and wherefores of all the kafuffle on this particular post. Therefore, no comment.
I'm off to browse the Nature forum. After which, I'll meet up with my pals in the kitchen. Coffee percolating as I type. brew and maybe a slice of Welsh cake.

Penstemmon Sat 31-Aug-13 12:07:21

I think that it is very sad for people to get so fed up with the negativity and nit picking that they feel they have better things to do rather than be the subject of unkind posts on a forum and so leave.

Most threads seem to be kind, helpful and/or amusing too. A few threads appear to be disrupted by a minority of posters who are either not very good at debating and so resort to personal sniping and tit for tatting or deliberately want to cause bother by stirring the proverbial!

I have looked at the guidelines and they are clear. Surely we can stick to them??

What a lovely place your kitchen is Soop. A haven of........well I was going to say peace and tranquillity but that lot were a bit noisy last night. I brought a couple of bottles of gin for later, they're from Lidl's but you don't notice the difference with mixers.
I can't stop long I've got to iron my white trousers for tonight. I'm going to the local town's White Night. They haven't had one for the last couple of years due to cuts in finance. Tonight they're pushing the boat out and there will all sorts of live entertainment, anything from high wire artists to classical music with a white grand piano. All in the open air with everyone dressed in white.
I 've never had Welsh cake before so I'd better just try a piece before I go.

dustyangel Sat 31-Aug-13 12:19:45

I've just messed up completely and put my nice long post in the wrong place. It should be in Soops Kitchen obviously. blush
