A lovely day today!
When checking my bank account, I found my Cardiff pension had been payed in.
I had a cup of coffee at the tribunal. The Judge made it for me! I really enjoyed it as I was thirsty.

Gnan thought it would not be long before you had a pop at me .

smile

Greatnan Fri 30-Aug-13 20:57:30

I cannot see any breach of the forum guidelines, so on what grounds would you have the thread deleted, jingle? Just because you don't like it?

Greatnan Fri 30-Aug-13 20:58:51

Another smile - you find some strange things humorous, Nonu.

Nonu Fri 30-Aug-13 21:00:36

Right back at you Gnan !!
smile

annodomini Fri 30-Aug-13 21:13:17

Galen, don't leave, please. You have done nothing wrong. In fact, you have done nothing that you couldn't have done to Frank's face because there was nothing malicious in your thread.

Grannylin Fri 30-Aug-13 21:27:09

For heavens sake Galen, don't you dare cave in.
Nonu if you want to say something useful, go and try your hand on the limerick thread then we can all see how funny you are and LOL togethersmile

hummingbird Fri 30-Aug-13 21:27:35

I thought it was very funny! Ironically, many of Frank's posts prompted very critical responses, and sometimes, downright rudeness. He never seemed to mind, and although I don't know him (unless I'm mistaken, none of us knows him) I'm sure he wouldn't mind this gentle, humorous joke! Come on, ladies!

gracesmum Fri 30-Aug-13 21:27:45

Why the smirk, Nonu??Are you saying you would like Galen to leave? And why did you say Greatnan would be having a pop at you? Likewise what on earth do you mean by "Right back at you?" This is just stirring and does you nobody any favours.
Galen it was a brilliant little pastiche and you gave most of us a laugh, there is no need for some people to get "holier than thou" all of a sudden and even less need for wooden spoonology by anybody who likes to see a fight. I would be devastated if you were to give in to this sort of bullying, because that is all it is. J08 you are perfectly happy to tell people to F* off and IMHO even if Frank were reading threads on GN - which I doubt - it is a whole lot worse to be called a "boring old fart" than to read Galen's pastiche.

Galen Fri 30-Aug-13 21:31:16

Wots a pastiche?
I fought it was a type of Frenchie drink yow put watter in and tasted like aniseed?

LizG Fri 30-Aug-13 21:32:21

Please don't leave Galen your posts are all good and would be greatly missed. It is amazing how some think their jokes are okay but they don't like others to be funny. There was nothing unkind in the original postings but they have been misrepresented and surrounded by vitriol since.

j08 Fri 30-Aug-13 21:32:35

Entirely up to you Galen. No need to tell me.

Though I don't understand why people can't just stop posting. Or sign out quietly. Why flounce?

whenim64 Fri 30-Aug-13 21:34:53

That!?! Coming from you, Jingle? Heard everything now! grin

Nonu Fri 30-Aug-13 21:35:18

Gracemum , I do not know if you are aware that saying
"right back at you " means " same to you " heyho you are such a sweetie .

j08 Fri 30-Aug-13 21:35:31

Jessm yes, that's true.

j08 Fri 30-Aug-13 21:36:29

I have signed out on several ocassions when. I have never announced my departure.

absent Fri 30-Aug-13 21:36:35

Has everyone – well almost everyone – taken leave of their senses? Or are some people posting comments on a completely different subject from the others because of a computer glitch? Or what? confused

janeainsworth Fri 30-Aug-13 21:37:01

j08 have you ever heard that advice about what to do when you're in a hole?

j08 Fri 30-Aug-13 21:38:47

I don't think I am in a hole. (although I will be very shortly in my bed)

Elegran Fri 30-Aug-13 21:39:17

STOP

Everyone log out, close down their PCs and laptops, make a cuppa and GO TO BED

If this thread continues to get nastier and nastier, we could be seeing mass deletions and bans, there will be no need for anyone to leave Gransnet, there will be no-one left to leave.

If you ask me, it would be a good thing if the whole thread were deleted, not for the posts that started it but for the sheer spitefulness that has been shown. A stranger would be forgiven for thinking that the main aim of some of it is to drive out many of the posters and destroy the forum altogether.

Well, you could be nearer to that goal than you think. Why would anyone go to the trouble of posting anything interesting, funny, supportive, thoughtful, when all this bile and venom is being thrown about?

I don't think I want to!

absent Fri 30-Aug-13 21:40:25

j08 I'm pretty sure that you announced your first departure because I was shocked to read about it in the morning having switched off my computer early the previous evening and you made it clear that it was a comment I had made that "compelled" you to resign. Obviously, I didn't know at that stage that you were going to resign and rejoin quite so many times.

Nonu Fri 30-Aug-13 21:41:49

grannylin , right back at you

gracemum , I did not say I would like Galen to leave , get your facts right , don"t want you going off on one !!

j08 Fri 30-Aug-13 21:42:17

Come to think of it, I may have suggested it would be best for me to leave. It was about five months after GN started and it was the result of being thoroughly and nastily bullied on what is now a zombie thread. I remember I was actually in tears at the time. (Never again!)

j08 Fri 30-Aug-13 21:43:47

Yes absent. As I have said, I remember that ocassion very well. Was surprised at the time that you seemed to think it was all your fault tbh. But it's old ground now. Since then I have left several times without saying anything.

j08 Fri 30-Aug-13 21:44:35

I don't believe I ever said, or insinuated, "compelled".

bikergran Fri 30-Aug-13 21:48:32

glass of wine anyone?
