Mine preferred the Drying Green - where I invariably stood in it while hanging out the washing, sometimes barefoot [Yuck]

And why do they always leave the dead mouse on the doormat? Ready for you to tread on just as you come in the door [yuk]

Mine shuns the laminate floor and makes for a rug, preferably the large one in the lounge. Dead mice are best consumed there also and the remains left.

Our cat used to leave half eaten rabbits on the dining room floor (well at least he got the right room!)

I have been away for a few days last week and whilst away, guess what, the cat got an abscess on the top of his head for my hubby to find. I am only a car ride of 7-8 hours away when he tells me with the helpless voice. Take him to the vet I said he's probably been fighting.
Next days call, vet did some treatment and he's now on antibiotics Hubby groans, good I say he'll be fine now. Next night hubby tells me how he had fallen over the lawn mower wire and hurt his wrist. (Me rolling eyes to sky with no sympathy)
Well dear, I sigh, sorry but I am not coming home ( I am having a lovely time with my daughter and grandchildren) Well what would you do?
No broken bones, but next day cat been sick on bed, on antibiotics and hubby moaning. Change the bedding dear I say patiently. Big sighs from other end of line.
How come it all happens when I am away?
Is it me I ask the God's?
confused

Disgusting cat once chose to be sick in my shoe. Never felt the same about that shoe again.

Ana Wed 04-Sept-13 15:35:00

anno, that shoe would have been in the bin pronto, and its mate, however fond I'd been of them! shock

It's not just cats, I am afraid. Grace likes to eat grass from time to time presumably to settle her stomach like the Very Hungry Caterpillar. She then has to be sick, but comes inside to do that. Bless.

I prefer the dead and sicked-up animals to the live ones which have been dropped and allowed to run away in the house. Once it was a baby bunny, which I located under a chest of drawers in the spare room which I use mainly for storage. It took hours in the middle of the night to clear the room and catch the blighter, which was unharmed.
Vanish carpet stain remover is excellent for removing bloody residue.

JuneH I hope you stayed right where you were. hmm

I had a few days away without DH recently. When I got back the kitchen and, strangely, the front porch, were filled with flowers! He never buys flowers usually! shock Obviously missing his dinners. hmm

I am back home now and wondering how to tell hubby that I am very much peed off with him. Mainly because he moaned because I stayed an extra day and because he won't come with me because he has taken against my SIL and my daughter (not his daughter) so that is why I drove all that way on my own.
I don't know where to start. By the way the cat is fine now a little short of hair shaved off like a crew cut, by the vet but doing fine.
Hubby well no sign of even a bruise....grrrrr angry

Sounds like time to plan lots of outings juneh. Fancy a very long walk? grin

juneh Wed 04-Sept-13 20:29:33

I would be doing a lot if it wasn't for the fact that I have bad knees. I have just started to walk the dog again this last couple of mornings. However looking forward to the meet up on Friday with the gransnetters get-to-gether at Cymru Venue restaurant. smile wine

When we lived in the country our cats always left half eaten mice halfway down the stairs. We learnt not to walk around with bare feet- eventually!!!

Our cat always peed next to the litter tray. Cork tiles didnt like it.

My cat once brought into the house (unknown to me at the time) a mouse which must have been injured. Mouse had escaped from cat by hiding in a corner of the dining room where a spare leaf from the table was kept.
The day before DD wedding and a family dinner arranged I went to get the table leaf to find a very dead mouse whose bodily fluids had seeped into the edge of the polished leaf. Even my poor sense of smell was in operation !!
I tried scrubbing it, Febreze, bleach and anything else I could think of to get rid of the smell and did succeed slightly as well as removing a large patch of polish. I ended up sticking a large plastic bag over it and made sure I was sat in the 'right' place. Nobody commented but they may have just been polite !
I still don't know why I, or anyone else, couldn't smell it until it was disturbed.
