I thought it would be a good idea to open a thread where those of us who are upset by this news can comfort each other. Better to share thoughts here and leave the IMPORTANT thread for on-going efforts to find her.

Gad - a great idea

A blow yesterday when no car found. I can't think what could be done that hasn't already been suggested but hoping and praying especially for strength for Carol's family.

Kiora Sun 03-Nov-13 09:30:42

I'm relatively new to gransnet but have seen some of her posts. I do hope she is found safe and well. Like a lot of you I think that the power of positive thoughts/prayers can be powerful, at the very least I think they give a small crumb of comfort to relatives. I will follow the story with hope

Oldgreymare Sun 03-Nov-13 09:40:18

Please let her be found quickly.... it MUST be today.

Yes, the car issue was so upsetting for the family. Police on a wild goose chase because a psychic had 'seen' it. Good to get back to sensible and practical support.

Carole's story is front page news in the online Le Dauphine, the local paper for Haute-Savoie, so hopefully that will bring a positive result.

gracesmum Sun 03-Nov-13 09:52:56

Apologies for posting twice, no idea what happened- not-so smart phone I think confused

Elegran Sun 03-Nov-13 09:53:08

Lynker you can also send private messages (if you can't quickly find a post by someone to click the purple bar) by clicking on "Inbox" at the top of the page, beside "logout". That takes you to a page where you can send and receive messages.

Yes, still hoping and praying. Just feel so useless, knowing she's out there somewhere and there's nothing we can do to help the search.

nightowl Sun 03-Nov-13 10:05:20

Sorry I know people are doing a lot behind the scenes, I was just thinking aloud sad

whenim64 Sun 03-Nov-13 10:09:02

nightowl supporting the people who are cracking on with it behind the scenes is helping to keep morale up. Thanks smile

glammanana Sun 03-Nov-13 10:16:49

nightowl same feeling here you are not alone I keep running different ideas through my head to try and come up with suggestions that may help.((hugs to everyone))

Marelli Sun 03-Nov-13 10:25:20

I'm the same - I feel as if I've gone off the radar myself, because I can think of nothing to add that can help, and the other threads aren't attracting me much. I just keep sharing on Facebook - there's no more I can do. sad

nightowl Sun 03-Nov-13 10:33:48

I know what you mean Marelli, I've been on a couple of other threads this morning but my heart's not in it at the moment. It all feels unreal (if only it were).

whenim64 Sun 03-Nov-13 10:35:48

Me too - lost the plot this morning when I had a shower and doused myself after with Dettol air freshener! hmm

kittylester Sun 03-Nov-13 11:09:32

Bet you smell gorgeous anno! half-hearted grin

moomin Sun 03-Nov-13 11:24:30

Not surprised when - you have been and are doing so much in the quest to find Carol. Maybe place the Dettol air freshener out of reach tho' wink

I'm running out of things to think and say tbh. It is a depressing weekend for us all isn't it.

Grandmanorm Sun 03-Nov-13 11:34:47

It is a beautiful day here but I just can't settle. The first thing I did this morning was look on my iPhone to see if there was any news. I've said it before but I feel so so sad for Carol's family, it must feel like living in hell.

SirKevin Sun 03-Nov-13 11:43:59

I am sorry to hear that one of our colleagues has vanished. I have not been to France for more than 40 years and have no friends or relatives there but can pray for her when I go to Mass today.

Marelli Sun 03-Nov-13 12:00:04

SirKevin, flowers. We can only do what we can and Carol's family will appreciate it all, however it is carried out.

GadaboutGran Sun 03-Nov-13 12:16:42

It can be very frustrating if you think of something and don't know whether or not it's been done. Speculation on threads that the public can view can be upsetting for family members & friends so if you have an idea & want to check it out in private I don't mind if you PM me. I'm not on the front line but am in the loop so have a good idea of what's been done or not & can check it out if not sure.

BUT if you want something you CAN do. please look back over previous threads for some ideas.

Lona Sun 03-Nov-13 12:16:46

when You have been, and are doing such a great job, we can really only wait with heavy hearts now, and keep encouraging the locals who are looking for the car and Carol.
flowers

Lona Sun 03-Nov-13 12:18:04

flowers for all of you.

whenim64 Sun 03-Nov-13 12:26:28

Thanks, Lona keep cheering each other on and help us keep morale up. Even a bit of appropriate humour can help. Carol is the first to see the funny side of things and would be busily making notes to tell us where we slipped up, got distracted or missed the bleeding obvious! I have her metaphorically on my shoulder when I'm writing, and re-write when I get a sense of her commenting 'well, you didn't put that very clearly!!' grin
