Lona Get well soon. We'll keep a comfy chair at the ready. Lovely big, warm, cuddly rug too. Mine were whipped out, in a hospital in Truro, 15 years ago. Don't go overdoing things around the house. It will take lots of TLC before your insides heal properly. We all send love.

when Enjoy special time with your granddaughters. One of the highlights of the day is bedtime story reading with our wee man. Sadly, I don't get the opportunity to do it as often as I'd like. At the mere mention of a story, he gathers as many books as he can carry to the bed. I sit beside him and, when he falls asleep, head lolled on my shoulder, it brings a tear to my eyes. Soppy Nana!

I drove the car to the shops. Mr soop drove back. It's possible to change from automatic to manual gear selection [while driving]...so I did.

Yep, the skip should have cost £330 but when Mr soop's jaw dropped with shock, the man said £300 would cover the expense of delivering it from Lochgilphead and, in the fullness of time, removing it and disposing of all the clutter. It's already 75% full. It is BIG. The last time we hired one...after the build of the house, it cost us £125. That was ten years ago.

My hearing aid has days when it loves to kick off and whistle. Don't ask me why. If anyone bends close to peck me on the cheek... I respond with a high-pitched whine from the right ear.

If the right person were to stoop down to give me a peck on the cheek Soop (e.g. George Clooney) I would emit considerably more than a high pitched whine (and definitely NOT from my right ear!!)

Oh dear, poorly people. Lona that all sounds a bit dramatic - I hope you are feeling much better now - but as everybody says, don't overdo it. From my experience the after effects of an anaesthetic made me feel fantastic - for a bit (maybe it was the morphine) but when I "came down" it was not so nice. So dae as ye are tell't.
Allie what better weather for hunkering down and not going out. Hioe it doesn't develop into anything - Oxford on a Sunday before C.....mas (even 5 weeks before) sounds eminently missable. Take care of yourselves!!

I logged on to Facebook earlier today. It's a useful forum for catching up with family matters. My sister has posted a photo of a puppy that was fighting for it's life. Some unspeakable acts of cruelty had been heaped upon the defenceless creature. What I saw has upset me for the rest of the day.

I shall help Mr soop to rid the loft of disposable clutter.

Hi everyone (stretch) I'm here.... and it was ok when I got there. Had a lovely dinner, roast chicken and veg etc that I can eat - and he gave me a hug when I left. I feel he will look after her.

Where're those shortbread biscuits? Did you save me any?

Don't think I want to see whatever was on Facebook....

Been a pretty good day here and there - and I feel much better than I did when I got up! Tired though.

Bellasnana The plight of the puppy upset me for the rest of yesterday. I know that there is cruelty in the world. If I could, I would help every victim, be it human or animal. Sadly, it's not within my power to do so.

I've driven the car into the village and back. Mr soop said...may I drive it next time? I and said, I'll see how I feel.

We received the informal notice of the date set for our granddaughter's wedding day...May 2015. The baby who used to climb onto my knee and snuggle down for a bedtime story, is now an intelligent, beautiful, well grounded young woman. Delightful, springs to mind. So...what to wear?

I've been looking through family photos. Have added a good one of my late father and me. He was such a silly old sausage!

Hello everyone, I've just got home from hospital, had a lovely hot shower, and I'm now reclining in clean pjs with lots of baby talc!
I'm feeling extremely tired now, it was a very busy ward, but I had amazing care from start to finish.

I've missed the kitchen crowd, and had to catch up slowly as laughing hurts!
soop my dear, well done with your driving, I'm proud of you, and the photo of you and your father is really good. He was a very handsome gentleman.

WHAT a miserable day out there! Would gladly seek refuge in Soop's kitchen and never come out again. However, did stir myself to clean the ovens this morning. Good old Oven Pride, but I fear it will take another go before I can feel anything less than Oven Shame
Oh, Lona I hope there is someone to look after you? Doesn't it feel wonderful to be out of hospital however necessary the say? DH has his op on Wednesday and I have to get him in by 7 a.m. Fingers crossed it isn't cancelled.

number My father was a Sgt Major in the Royal Artillery. He was a bossy boots...with a tender inner core heart.

Mr soop is still stuffing all manner of unwantables into the mighty big skip. Rory has been outside with him all afternoon in spite of the blustery cold weather. He is like Mr soop's shadow. It is lovely to see how close they've become.

I've been taking a few photos of a beautiful late afternoon sky. Tomorrow afternoon, I shall upload to the album. Off to catch up with a double mountain of ironing tomorrow morning. My friend has been on a two week holiday.

Don't overdo it soop! Oh it's so comforting in here, I might just stay the night.

Glad to hear you are home from hospital Lona. They boot you out quite quickly nowadays don't they! I am reminded of when my appendix and I parted company back in 1968 at Chester Royal Infirmary which, in those days, meant a week in hospital. I was quite disappointed to miss only a week of school as it was just before the Easter holidays. Talk about bad timing!

Having managed to wrest my iPad from DGD 1 ( the leaf studied if you look at my profile) and a horrible drive back from Gloucester, I feel in need of some adult company.
I've brought shortbread and banana cake as they're the only things I can cook, so tuck in.

I'll join you too as I've just had a call from Mum's GP telling me that her oxygen levels are very low and asking whether we want her treated in hospital or in the Home. Bit of a daft question if you ask me as Mum is nearly 90 and has severe dementia . She isn't eating either, although she told the GP that she could regularly eat a horse, and has visibly lost weight since the GP's last visit.

As some of you know, Mum and I have had a 'difficult' relationship so I'm not sure how I feel.

DGD is a girl after my own heart! Every time I visit she grabs my left hand and says ' pretty!' Pointing to my diamond solitaire!
I approve of a 2year old who appreciates a nice diamond!
