Lona thank you. I shall sit with my lovely Granspals for a while. I put my energy to good use and cleared the bedroom wardrobes and drawers of clutter. It was therapeutic.
number Oh! I understand why your husband has reached the decision not to drive. I agree, it's for the best reasons. I trust that you have decent public transport. Do you live in or near to town?
As for equity release, we are only taking out a minimal amount at this stage. We may have more in due course. We remain living in our home until both of us become "stardust"...if one pre-deceases the other and wants to move, the house is sold and the loan [plus interest] is repaid. Should I find myself in this position, and decide to move, I shall have to rent a property. We shall never, however, be in a state of negative equity. Mr soop has looked into this matter with due care. Had it been possible to sell our present home and build a smaller, less costly home nearby [in the orchard] we would have taken that route. Building costs have rocketed. When we realised that we would have been worse off, the project didn't make sense.
We needed to swap our car for something with low mileage because it was costing us far too much in garage bills. Hopefully, the car that we have selected, will be reliable for a few years.
