Hi all

The original thread has become too long and unwieldy so we're trying to streamline all the information to make it easier for everyone to keep up with what's going on.

There are two other threads for support and suggestions.

Please can you leave this thread free for those who have firm updates and links? Thanks so much. flowers

Granjura you deserve a medal!

Mamie Sun 03-Nov-13 14:02:09

France Bleu is local radio isn't it. That should really help.

MiceElf Sun 03-Nov-13 13:58:51

Well done Granjura. You've been a real brick.

granjura Sun 03-Nov-13 13:53:44

Just had the journalist on the phone from France Bleu. Was able to give her more info on Carol and her habits- and on the fact that local police found clear signs in the flat yesterday... at last... that all signs indicate that she left the flat for the day, not for a longer trip on a whim (washing-up, fresh food in fridge, etc). I told her that a friend from Gransnet recently stayed with her and commented on how bright and switched-on she is, confident driver, and knows the local area so well.

She intends to keep the pressure and ask all to keep eyes peeled for the car.

Mamie Sun 03-Nov-13 13:31:58

It is wonderful that you are there and able to do that Granjura. I am convinced that once this gets on local TV, radio and in newspapers that we will see progress. Traditional media are still the most powerful in France, I think.

granjura Sun 03-Nov-13 13:25:37

Mamie, I contacted the journalist about the article by phone, and 'put her right' about Carol alwas phoning Fiona, always being on FB, and other Forums and e-mail to family. Also told her that in my discussions with the local Adjudant and his second in command, they were now sure that what they saw in the flat on Saturday persuaded them that it certainly looks as if Carol left the flat for a day trip and NOT for a holiday on a whim, in which case she would have done the washing-up and emptied the bowl, and emptied the fridge of fresh food. Why they did NOT actually go in earlier, I'll never know. But here we are. It is true that it is a custom to only close shutters when going on holiday or at least for few days.

A very good article.

Mamie Sun 03-Nov-13 12:46:58

This is a much better article on France Bleu.

At last the news is on the AOL news page.

granjura Sun 03-Nov-13 11:09:31

All OK on that site- have added a plea for all to look out for the car- so that searches can be launched for Carol.

Galen Sun 03-Nov-13 11:08:46

The article sounds good to me and says the police are checking parking and departure points for alpine walkers. I presume this means the starts of the mountain trails

granjura Sun 03-Nov-13 11:06:12

Posted on the visorando thread, with more info. Will check other link now and get back.

Has had a reply and a link to this media article, if it hasn't been seen already, would the French speakers check it for clarity?

Done it! Very short though. Can speak French better than write.

Galen Sun 03-Nov-13 10:56:46

Tried to message (basic French) but it wouldn't accept it.

kalexie Sun 03-Nov-13 10:49:05

Yes, I've just posted a message on the visorando forum in the section relating to the Haute-Savoie region.

Mamie Sun 03-Nov-13 10:47:17

Have emailed visorando.

ffinnochio Sun 03-Nov-13 10:44:04

On it, when

whenim64 Sun 03-Nov-13 10:25:23

Could one or more fluent French speakers please confirm that they can contact the visorando forum mentioned in my previous post, then I can let it go. Thanks.

Mamie Sun 03-Nov-13 10:22:17

Yes the article worried me Granjura. Wrong day, concern about telephone but not email / Facebook, implication in the statement that she might have gone away. Hope they correct it and also hope it gets on the 19/20. The assumption about shutters is a classic isn't it?
