Off work this week, lots to do. On Monday morning I was rushing to go out to see DGDs. Had to stop off at the Post Office to post a birthday present. Got to car park, switched off engine, grabbed handbag & was walking towards the high street when it dawned on me that the parcel was sitting on the kitchen table.

Got through yesterday without too much difficulty except that I had forgotten to do my homework for my evening Spanish class.

DH has a big birthday on Saturday & DD is hosting an 'at home' for him. Since she is working in London this week guess who's actually doing the cooking? Yep you guessed.

DD had requested that I do one of my Christmas hams so off I trotted to the local supermarket only to discover that they don't stock them till nearer Christmas.

Back in the car for a trip to Asda, a twenty five minute drive from home. Walking towards the store rummaging in my bag for trolley £1 I had a very clear vision of me doing online gift shopping this morning and of course my purse was sitting beside the iPad!!

Once I've finished my very strong brew I'll try again. Give me strength.

I've spent an hour this am looking for my reading glasses so I could use my lap-top I had mr g. looking under the cushions and I had the bathroom smellies all out of the baskets thinking I may have taken them off when washing the mop no sign anywhere !! in my bedroom in all the drawers and through the last two handbags I had used not a sign anywhere and we only have a smallish apartment so where are they ? I gave up for a while and decided to put the brush through my hair as it had now dried and found said specs resting on my head where I had shoved them when I came out of bathroom,mr.g. didn't notice them as I am just slightly taller than him hmm

I took my usual walk this morning and decided to pop in and book my car in for a service , the 'very' young man at the desk duly asked me the reg of my car which I told him and during an embarrassing 5min conversation he managed to convince me that I was 'losing my marbles' and couldn't remember the correct reg for my car... so I walked away mumbling and
embarrassed, I'll phone later 'when I had checked the reg', to book the service and MOT...

Only to find when I got home the number I had given him was actually correct I would of given him a good slap if he'd been in range... turns out that in a update of their system they had lost a lot of customers details and because he couldn't find my car in the system he had assumed I was an old person with a bad memory... aaarrrggghhh!!!!

baubles I was like that last week.
Tesco delivered the groceries on saturday morning I off loaded them, put FIL to one side to take over to him.
Jumped in the car and twenty minute drive to him, got there checked the car no groceries.
Got home said to DD I have lost FIL shopping she shrugged her shoulders. I later went out to the car for something I had bought when out dropping FIL shopping and low and behold someone had put FIL shopping in the back of the car hmm ...now why couldnt I see them when I looked at FIL's so I had to make a return journey.
DD is sure I have sometimers, after Saturday I might agree with her.

Baubles They're in France, happily ricocheting around..... wink

Iam64 Thu 21-Nov-13 13:58:57

What a reassuring thread this is, for those of us whose marbles are definitely not in France (well, I don't think they are...)

I have been meaning to book my car in for a service for a while now and I keep forgetting (I usually remember when I am getting into bed!) So last night I left myself a HUGE note on the kitchen table, still haven't done it but have been out all day and I am having a sit down and a cup of coffee first and will ring later (unless I forget) hmm

kittylester Thu 21-Nov-13 16:27:44

They are probably with my Christmas cards which are not on top of the wardrobe GM. grin

Reassuring that others have similar experiences. grin

My day didn't improve though. Got home with shopping, checked vet surgery times on the back of the cat's vaccination record, it said 3-3.30 so bundled the dog & her record card into the car in time to be first in the queue. The vet nurse was very welcoming, asked me to have a seat as I was rather early.

Checked my watch, 'not really, it's just gone 3' says I.

'Surgery is 3.30 -4' says she.

Not what it says on the cat's card says I, oh that changed about 5 years ago, don't you remember?

OF COURSE I DON'T BLOODY REMEMBER!!!!!

I bought A second lot of Christmas cards because I couldn't remember where I put the others, opened the cupboard to put them away and there was the original cards sitting at eye level. There are none so blind as will not see confused

annodomini Thu 21-Nov-13 19:21:06

Last year, I bought a second lot of Christmas cards because I'd completely forgotten that I'd stocked up in a sale earlier in the year!

I am always losing my glasses. Can't see to find them LOL. I send poor DH round the house looking for them - usually found somewhere odd!

And that awful feeling when you go into a room to do something vital and can't remember what.

And worst of all NAMES in social situations. Ahhhhgggh!

AlieOxon Fri 22-Nov-13 19:47:15

I've started doing things twice....and forgetting why I came upstairs...
What I find more worrying is that occasionally I am losing words - couldn't remember the word 'trampoline' the other night!
Oddly, I can often say what the word begins with.

Tegan Fri 22-Nov-13 20:17:58

I eventually remember words I'd forgotten and feel so relieved. Then, a few days later it's gone again and the process starts again. I'm trying to think of a name at the moment. I can SEE the name if that makes sense, but not remeber what it is.I woke up in the middle of the night and realised I'd not paid my credit card bill [and it was a big one this time; car MOT etc] so had to get up to find out when it was due. Thankfully Monday so phoned the bank and got it paid.
...name was Nacarat; easy to forget I suppose as it sounds like an anagram of itself, doesn't it confused...

Ana Fri 22-Nov-13 20:47:28

Oh, thank goodness it's not just me!

The forgetting words thing is rather a worry - I thought it only happened to old people...grin

AlieOxon Fri 22-Nov-13 21:23:33

I forgot that.....I suppose I am!

annodomini Fri 22-Nov-13 21:44:12

No, we are not losing our marbles; it's just getting a bit crowded in our craniums!

Deedaa Fri 22-Nov-13 22:21:36

I feel your pain baubles I've been there and done it all! Was once within a nanosecond of calling the police when my car was stolen. Luckily my SiL found where I'd really parked it just in time grin
One of my friends has just told me about her fridge/freezer breaking down. She replaced the light in case it was just that but after a few hours it was obviously not working. She had to get an engineer out. He pulled it out from its alcove and found the switched off socket behind it! She had been stacking tins under the worktop and hadn't noticed that she'd knocked the switch. Result - an £80 call out fee for being made to look an idiot.

As well as all the things everyone else seems to have lost, I have lost a bright red fleece cardigan. Sorely needed in this frosty weather. Anyone seen it ? Any clues where it could be ? I've looked in all the likely places ie freezer, oven, cupboard under the stairs etc .................!

tiggypiro Sat 23-Nov-13 08:04:30

At least when I lose a phone I can use the other one to find it - as long as I get the instructions out first. Pity cardigans don't have the same facility.

AlieOxon Sat 23-Nov-13 08:22:14

I think of it like my computer is getting a full memory....

Tegan I know exactly what you mean about seeing the word!

feetlebaum Sat 23-Nov-13 08:51:03

@Tegan - I saw a headline about "Brucie" this morning - and do you think I could remember his surname? Could I bogroll... It once took me three days to recall that Carol's surname was Vorderman... Sometimes it's a name that I knew when I started the sentence, but it's gone by the time I get to it!

Lona Sat 23-Nov-13 08:59:35

We always tease my friend who famously said "You know...................that place where I live!"

Nelliemoser Sat 23-Nov-13 09:08:35

So its not just me who can't recall words or names we know we know.
