Anyone found my misplaced marbles?

Thanks harrigan but I've looked there too. I am hoping that I left it at my friends when I went gardening and one of her carers has put it away !

I blame computers for all our forgetfulness. Afterall we were all perfectly ok until they came along. I think they are programmed to suck our brains out so that they can take over the world completely. We all use computers and we are all forgetful so the point is proved is it not ? What other reason could there be !?

I place car keys and house keys in the same place every time so those are two items I never lose. My glasses are always on my face and reading glasses are always in the same place.

It is paperwork here which goes astray as my filing system is easy, pile it up, when it is too much to cope with, place in a carrier bag abd start again.

Galen that 7 thing - um can't do it (do I need putting away?). When presented with numbers its not my eyes that glaze over, it's my brain!

I can wash myself and I've been dressing myself for a few years now. I can also name the Queen, current PM, current leaders of the Labour and Liberal parties (although I can't remember if they are called Liberal Democrats now!). I can also name the President of the USA. (Will that save me!)

Reckon. I remember one lady of 93 who said the monarch was Queen Victoria , it was September (in March) couldn't do serial sevens or the three items test, but being asked who was the PM? She replied "that woman" it was indeed Mrs Thatcher.

The opening post just about sums me up to a tee. I seem to have lost my marbles over the last year to the extent that I continually buy Vanilla and wild Iris comfort fabric conditioner, Finish dishwasher powder, Ariel washing gel and believe it or not Tefal red spot frying pans. Don't ask, but my son has taken much back for a refund and doctor is not impressed and wants the issue addressed. I wish I knew why and more importanty be able to stop it. I sometimes go out to get some lunch at work and come back with no lunch but fabric conditioner. It seems they are links associated with my ex and to be honest I can visualise her using all I have mentioned so perhaps there is something in it. So baubles, rest assured that you are in good company among like minded people for better or worse.

Perhaps you are just stocking up for Nuclear Fall out. I have ALL the candles still which I bought for the end of the world as we knew it in Dec 1999. Oh, I'm always loosing the car. I narrow it down now by always parking on the top deck of multi stories and rarely use supermarket car parks. The only car number I know is the Morris Oxford my parents had when I was eight. Comes in very handy as a password!

There are two aisles I regularly use in the M&S/Tesco car park. If the car isn't in one it's (almost) sure to be in the other. My GD used to be the most reliable locator of my car but she has moved south .

My excuse for forgetting my registration number is that they bear no relation to anything - silly idea to change them. I do know that my current car is black, has a glass roof strong enough to support a bear, is something, something, 12 and then the shortened version of my sister-in-law's name. All I need to do is remember which of my 5 sisters in law it is

I can't stop buying mayonnaise. Because it's the somethingorother anniversary at the moment it's £2 a jar and I love mayonnaise so I feel the need to stock up on it. I was chatting to the people behind me in the supermarket queue today [captive audience ] and said I was turning into my mother who used to hoard boxes and boxes of tea in the sideboard in the living room.

I used to wonder why my grandma saved paper bags - in the oven, for some reason - and she always had loads and loads of toilet rolls in her airing cupboard. I also keep paper bags (in a box under the bed) and have loads and loads of toilet rolls in the cupboard above the boiler. In Grandma's day there was no Groupon - that's my reason for the amount of loo rolls in my boiler cupboard.

I be buggered if they gave me the 7 test thing. I'm innumerate, so forget subtracting and 7s and 9s are the worst.
I was so pleased the other day. I got the square route thing. It's so simple. Why didn't anyone explain it the simple way.

I know my car registration begins with a Y. I think that's pretty good for a car I've only had for 8 years

Don't worry about the 7 test thingy petra, it's easier if you subtract 10 then add 3.
School mental arithmetic tests were pure agony for me and I was always looking for a short cut.

Strangely, I have an amazing memory for car and phone numbers, only have to use them twice or so and they're stuck for ever. Can even remember my long Visa number, expiry date and security code on the back without looking it up. Not sure if that's a useful thing to remember or not!

Just wasted twenty minutes of my life (well I wasn't actually doing anything anyway) trying to take off the remains of my nail polish with what turned out to be (not totally useless nail polish remover as I thought) setting lotion. They do come in similar plastic bottles but one liquid is pink and the other turquoise. I have no idea what the car registration no is, so don't ask and the last twice I have set out on my own in the car, I have climbed into the passenger seat, done up the seat belt and wondered why nothing was happening. I noticed a woman watching me as I went round the car to get into the drivers side and was impelled to tell her 'I'm not waiting for HIM any longer' to which she replied 'Good for you'.

Oh I feel so much better having read through this thread. Cheered me up no end.

I solved the car registration problem. I bought a personalised one consisting of my initials and a a motorway (M11). When I was working I spent many an hour on the M11 and was always worried about being stopped by police and asked my car registration. So hence the personalised number plate. When I changed cars, I did huge mileages when I worked, the number came with me. Simples!

As I have only just joined this site I am now trying to work out how to remember the way back onto it. I have a feeling I shall have to use pen and paper, if I can find where I put them that is !

Isn't this thread reassuring! I know I am not alone in not always being able to remember names of people or objects. Usually they're not gone for good - are still there at the bottom of a load of clutter, a bit like my sock drawer.

Today's missing marble moment came when I looked out the Kitchen window and saw 'our' cat eating bread that had been put out for the birds. I summoned DH to come and see this strange behaviour and the pair of us watched astonished as the cat leapt up into the plum tree and, with amazing agility, bounced over to inspect the bird feeders which hang there. I waved at the cat to come down and went to open the back door to encourage him to come into the house for proper food. Suddenly DH shouted 'No! that's not our cat'. Same size, same tortoiseshell markings, same blue collar but with FOUR LEGS, which neither of us had noticed. Our 3 legged Cassidy was asleep on the couch as usual.

DH reckons we should call the strange cat JAKE - after Jake the Peg, with the extra leg!
