If you feel bullied

Perhaps we could have some sort of pax system for those of us feeling bulllied. But people must understand the difference between lively debate where they will read stuff they don't like and actual bullying, and I am not sure after re-reading the thread that there was any bullying going on, well at least nothing that I would feel bullied about if I was Margaret74

No jingls

I joined Gransnet last year and cannot always find the time to visit the site. Consequently I don't know what form of bullying took place that gave rise to this thread but feel for anyone who is the subject of it. Having been bullied as a child as I had to wear leg irons for some time, I know how it feels to be on the receiving end. It does toughen you up and I think I can now hold my own with any bully.
However, I feel very disillusioned as I have been telling friends and family what a supportive, lively and friendly site GN is and not bitchy like some social network sites are supposed to be(not that I have experience)
Perhaps this thread will make us all be more thoughtful in future.

OR perhaps it will make us too frightened to open our mouths to say anything at all away from the usual run of the mill stuff. #couldgetboring

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 21-Feb-14 12:29:26

Just be flea. I quite like flea. smile

nannyfran Fri 21-Feb-14 12:29:58

Possibly jingls, but there seem to be too many strong characters for that to happen.Boring? Never!

We should always think before we say things because, unlike in the real world if we say something to someone and almost straight away realise we've said it in the wrong was or in the wrong tone we can't instantly make good what we've one. Sometimes a comment from someone [even mistakenly interpreted] read late at night if you're on your on can be like a stab in the back. It hasn't happened to me on here but it has on another forum.

penstemmon re your post of Fri 21-Feb-14 08:58:52

I was trying (far too late) last night to make that point about questioning others statements as well as you have. Very well said.

I am trying hard not to add fuel to a dying fire but it does seem that because we cannot agree on a definition of bullying then there is always going to be tension.

I see some posts where people want to have their cake and to eat it. With one statement there is an implication that the poster finds sharp ripostes bullying but then are happy to jibe at other posters and add side remarks and emoticons directed at 'friends' in a rather cliquey fashion which appear to be directed against another poster.

This does not make me feel bullied but it does make me feel that there are double standards at work!

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 21-Feb-14 17:48:53

Oh lighten up penstemonn! Really. hmm
