Saw in my paper that they have sold their baby pictures to Hello magazine !
Sorry , they are NOT pop stars and seems a bit demeaning to me as members of the royal family to do such a thing !
Wonder how Queen views it , one minute they want their privacy , next minute , splashing their photos !
Funny old world !
Hmmm

Hello also did a feature on Kate Middleton holidaying in Mustique with Prince George. I thought it was frowned upon but the young Royals seem to be re-writing the rule book.

I bet Her Maj is not amused.

Nonu Tue 25-Feb-14 17:39:58

I M O removes some of the mystique and moves them more towards republicanisim.
heyho !

Agus Tue 25-Feb-14 17:43:20

Never mind her maj! I'm not amused!

Charleygirl Tue 25-Feb-14 17:47:36

I agree with Nonu, they cannot have it both ways.

merlotgran Tue 25-Feb-14 17:48:03

To be fair, Zara and Mike earn their own living so they are at liberty to do as they please. Maybe they'll donate the money to a sports charity? hmm

rosequartz Tue 25-Feb-14 17:48:10

Me neither. Are they short of a bob or two? I could have waited quite happily for the official christening photos, same with P. George.

mollie Tue 25-Feb-14 17:49:21

I guess they're entitled to earn their money however they can as they aren't kept but the public purse. On top of that, if they don't do it this way - with some control over the pictures - the paparazzi will try to get that 'first' baby photo and it might not be so flattering! I don't blame them.

rosequartz Tue 25-Feb-14 17:54:31

Well, they do earn their own living true, but it is being HM's DGD for which she is most famous, despite not having a royal title.
Not saying I don't admire her for her achievements, him too.
But having your cake and eating it springs to mind.

Iam64 Tue 25-Feb-14 19:14:43

Hey mollie - I agree with you about this one. I can't get agitated about this kind of thing. I confess to having looked twice at the Hello cover on the display, but this isn't the 20th century, and things change. The reality is they have both been successful in sports to the extent they have represented their country, and that gives them a certain celebrity whether we like it or not. I say good luck to them, and their lovely baby. Whose betting there is a shetland pony already identified as first horse?

Tegan Tue 25-Feb-14 19:17:03

Rather Zara got paid by Hello than it went to Katie Price. Hard working, good role model and all round decent person is Zara. Good luck to her.

Anne58 Tue 25-Feb-14 19:29:33

Have to agree with you there, Tegan She is not included on the Civil List.

I do not buy any of the "celeb" magazines, but when I notice them when in the check out queue, many of them seem to feature either people who I have never heard of, our people who seem to be famous for being famous!

annodomini Tue 25-Feb-14 19:38:57

I admire the way Princess Anne brought up her children to make their own way while other minor royals (the Wessexes and the Yorks) maintain their titles. I'm sure they have a little stash of titles in a musty old cupboard ready for any royal infant whose parents fancy it!

mollie Tue 25-Feb-14 19:44:43

I expect Princess Ann saw the writing on the wall and with three brothers ahead of her in the succession she decided to help her family adjust to life in the real world. I'm not sure that Andy did his two girls a favour by making them princesses, it's a bit rarified for two girls working in offices isn't it. Aren't Edward's girls 'Ladies'? More manageable, I think...

Anne58 Tue 25-Feb-14 23:17:02

Mollie anyone that can even think about wearing a hat such as "that" one (I'm sure you know the one I mean) should have the title of Chief Numpty of Numpty Land, bugger "princess"!

The daft tart couldn't even sit in a proper position in the mini bus thing! Ended up sort of bent over, sort of adopting the pose people use when trying to unsuccessfully shuffle along the row in the cinema or theatre.

Or perhaps the sort of walk I developed when I realised I was at the wrong funeral................................confused blush

Ariadne Wed 26-Feb-14 05:19:28

Agree about the "celebrity" magazines, *phoenix"! I did recognise the name "Zara" on the OP, though, but don't see what the fuss is about.

FlicketyB Wed 26-Feb-14 08:36:57

Isn't posing for pictures like this how they earn their living? Neither them otherwise seem to have any other money earning activities, bar sponsorship for their sports.

merlotgran Wed 26-Feb-14 09:15:19

Edward has a daughter, Lady Louise Windsor and a son, James, Viscount Severn. The only reason they are not a prince and princess is because Edward is only an Earl at the moment. When the D of E dies he will become Duke of Edinburgh which will elevate the status of his children.

Nonu Wed 26-Feb-14 09:24:00

I believe I am correct in saying that Zara co-designs an outdoor clothing range , so there would be income there !

annodomini Wed 26-Feb-14 09:25:06

Somehow can't really imagine Princess Zara or Princess Mia!

Nonu Wed 26-Feb-14 09:29:24

Only thing is , if they HAD been princess"s , they would have been on the civil list !!

Elegran Wed 26-Feb-14 09:41:37

No they wouldn't, nonu The Civil List is very specific about who benefits. you don't get on it just by being a princess.

Only The Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh and the Queen Mother ever received direct funding from the Civil List.

Elegran Wed 26-Feb-14 09:42:22

Civil list - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civil_list

Nonu Wed 26-Feb-14 10:18:06

I have been corrected !grin

henetha Wed 26-Feb-14 10:27:15

If somebody offered me a hundred thousand pounds for some photos I would find it very difficult to say no.
