I'm officially old !

I have occasionally noticed food dribbling down my chin, but have put it down to eating too speedily greedily, luckily I have intercepted the offending particles before they descended southwards

NanKate I went out with a friend last week for lunch. I dared not have spag bol as I can only eat that in private, in the comfort of my own home as that finds its way very easily down my front, usually when I have a white top on. My friend ordered it and not a dribble.

Oh goodness, now you come to mention it .... I feel quite depressed now!

Yes, have noticed this a lot! Oh the shame [hangs head.]In fact both me and my DH have noticed it [frequent tea stains on shirts etc.] in our house. 'Many a slip twixt cup and lip' although it rarely happens if we are out somewhere [we obviously take more care then.]Spag bol is definitely a meal to eat with no guests about the place.

This is the reason that we only eat on our knees one day a week, as a treat, because it happens all the time when we do that.

I blame my boobs they get in the way ...

That made me chuckle Kitty, it conjoured up an image of you on your knees with your plates on the floor!

I find that now I'm living on my own, my table manners are not what they were. I often eat from a bowl with a spoon, even when not having pasta. It leaves one hand free for the keyboard.

Take heart, girls, Prince Phillip was the guest of honour at SIL's passing out parade in Dartmouth and they had fun counting the food stains on his uniform.

dollie When I was at work full time I used to get home as quickly as possible to get out of work uniform and into track suit bottoms/baggy top I had one flannel hoodie which I loved it was all cuddly and comfy,you could set the time on me dropping something down it as soon as I opened my mouth

Dollie I can't even blame my boobs, I have always been rather lacking in that department.

I often say to DH 'you wouldn't really want someone with big t*ts would you?' I have noticed of late he doesn't answer this question. I'm putting this down to slight deafness !!

The first time I visited my brother in Australia we went out for a meal and I had spag. bol. At the end of the evening my brother pointed out to everyone that I had not one stain on my top - I'm afraid that wouldn't be the case today!!

Before I cook spaghetti these days, I break it into short lengths. No splashes! I am so glad that I am not the only messy eater.

HUGE relief that I am not the only one having problems in the food dropping department! I've taken to wrapping a tea-towel around my neck, but only when eating alone, not in public!

I cut my spaghetti before I eat, but I'm still quite likely to spill. As you say kitty we shouldn't. eat off our knees

I've always broken spaghetti into short lengths before cooking. Can't be doing with all that twisting around the fork!

I don't know what I would say are my biggest assets but they are most certainly not my boobs so I can't make that excuse

Now that it has been mentioned, I too,have noticed the odd food stain, usually on a white shirt of course but I am hoping this is due to having the odd lap top dinner in front of the TV.

So possibly,the consensus is, nothing to do,with age, should be eating at the table! However, spaghetti bol is in a class of its own.

You wouldn't want to drop food down yourself while posing naked for a painting, NanKate, so it's perhaps just as well you never have!

Too true Ana I don't want to burn my assets.

As a rule, I don't drop my food down me when I am eating, but I must be the world's messiest cook, so the evening's menu is plastered all over my apron, if I am wearing one, or my tee shirt, if I'm not. I have even been known to set light to my clothes when stir-frying. I've done it all my life so it's not a sign of age.

Why do you think the messy thing happens? I have noticed that I drop more food, but have no idea why. I love cowl neck jumpers, DBH calls them my bibs.

I've always been a messy eater! This is made worse by my habit of dining off a tray on my lap. Pasta sauce or anything else containing tomatoes is the messiest.
