The very first time!

I was wondering what other Gnetters have recently done for the very first time.

Turned the stopcock off !!

Trying not to leave everything to DH.

Waxing - painful? Your'e being very polite about it when I had my eyebrows waxed (I believed tweezing was too painful ), I'm ashamed to say I let a few expletives out!

I went back to the hairdressers because I was so unhappy with the cut and highlights I had earlier this week. First time I have ever dared do that!
(They were great, didn't make a drama of it, senior stylists redid the colour and sorted out the cut so it no longer looks like a nasty beige wig). Be brave!

Second first (iyswim) I recently ski-ed the Swiss Wall for the first time. One of the great ski runs, one kilometre of very, very steep moguls Swiss Wall and I have been trying to work up the courage for years. I feel great about that one. Not as scary as complaining at the hairdressers.

I had a look at the pictures of those moguls and you have my full admiration, Icy. It looks thrilling. Need I say that I completely failed when I tried skiing!

It's funny how at some places it's just not that easy to complain, and I agree, the hairdressers is one such place. Maybe because it's as if their creative creations are being rejected! But it's your hair after all.

I've never had my hair dyed, as such, but often had highlights put into it - my hairdresser said this week that I could do with some low-lights; that's a first and I've no idea what they are or why she has suggested it. I'm not googling it either as it may make me dislike her

Low-lights Holly are shades of brown/copper etc which you could have with your highlights and it can give the hair a very nice look of not being one single colour.

I know you are relatively new to GN Holly. Have you discovered the Profile you can complete? Many of us only give a brief overview of ourselves, but it is nice to know how many grandchildren we have and our age etc, but of course it is up to all GNs to decide for themselves if they will do this.

A mixture of low- and highlights are ace for hiding the grey bits! They kind of blend in. Gives your hair a more textured look too, which is great for those like me whose hair is as fine as gnats' whiskers and as flat as a pancake. Give it a go Holly. And you don't have to worry too much about roots because your hair isn't all one (false) colour. I love mine.

Walked into a pub on my own. It was just before Christmas, and I wanted gift vouchers for their meals for 2 of our daughters.

Was authorised to use the washing machine to do my own stuff. Now that's empowerment!

Whizzed down the zipwire at my grandchildren's local park! I'm of very small stature (the clue's in my name!), so got away with it

mini I once did a similar thing at a large playpark, only it was down a slidey twisty tunnel on your backside. When I eventually tumbled out, my own family had moved on and there were 2 parents waiting for their own off -spring to arrive! They got a shock when it was me, and I got a shock too, talk about embarrasment.

There are several things I've had to do for the first time, recently, but they aren't jolly or funny so maybe I'll leave this one.

It's true that some of the things that you have to do for the first time are anything but.

I recently had an abnormal result to a bowel cancer test and then went on to a colonoscopy, for the very first time.

Apparently I am having 'highlights' next Wednesday, according to my
grand-daughter who is a hairdresser. Shall I let her go ahead and do it?
Yes, I think so..... ... I've never had highlights before.
