Anyone else have an 'egg pan'?

Yes, i do have an 'egg pan' but it is really too big for boiling just two eggs, so I use a small stainless steel one if I am doing one or two then give it a good scrub.

Oh dear, perhaps I had better get another small one just for eggs.

I have a small egg poaching pan which cost 7/6 in 1965 in Halifax Market and is still in use whenever we have poached eggs. I just put half an inch of water in the bottom of the pan, put the 4 cups in the rack on top, add a dab of butter then the egg and put the lid on. Heat on the hob and perfect poached eggs in no time at all.

DS used to play with it a lot as a baby in 1971 "posting" the 4 little individual cups into the slots for ages - he liked that better than the brightly coloured plastic shapes he had to post in an octagonal ball!

I don't think I could boil an egg in an ordinary pan now!!

My mother thought egg water gave you warts. So maybe the origin of having a separate pan goes back to some such unfounded superstition.

Definitely. DGS has a boiled egg or two every time he is here. I keep one of my milk saucepans for eggs only.

I've got one. It's small but deep, with a well fitting lid. I wouldn't cook anything else in it as it has hard water marks on the inside. Occasionally I boil the sponge dishcloth in it.

I have a pan just for boiling eggs in Kitty.I think it's to do with water from the eggshells not being good, but is just something I have always done!
