You know you're getting old when .......

I once noticed, on the way home from work, that I was wearing a mis-matching suit. Two different check designs. I had on the jacket from one suit, which was a brownish grey, and the trousers from another, a bluish grey. I found later that a few people had noticed but didn't want to embarrass me by mentioning it. I was in my mid 40's.

annodomini I have done that. I got all the way to Paddington (from Reading) before I noticed that one of my shoes was red, the other brown. My age was about 40.

A couple of years ago, I bought a new vacuum cleaner. Unpacked it and assembled it quickly as I'm very experienced with vacuums having got through several over the years! Anyway..... The hose seemed very short, but not to be daunted, I vacced the house from top to bottom on my hands and knees.....really hard work! A few days later, I glanced at the instructions and one word flew out at me. TELESCOPIC! I felt so stupid!

When you open the fridge and find the cream crackers inside. I did try blaming it on my DD's 'Baby Brain', but that didn't work. It is me who eats the cream crackers mainly, so have to own this one

No, glass, I am 64 now - those five years make a big difference!

When I was a lot younger my boss and I used to write shopping lists for the cash and carry. Inevitably we would find that we had doubled up on ingredients we already had plenty of in the kitchen while forgetting items we desperately needed. Sadly I haven't improved with age, last week it took three visits to the shops before I remembered the Paracetamol I had gone out for!

I think that would happen if you were young, glass!
(which you are, of course, compared to most of us...)

When you hand mix two batches of cement and come home and your arms and neck are aching

When your GP diagnoses your funny lumps and bumps as 'senile warts'. When you have had to order an amplifier because you can't hear the phone ring any more.

I have gone out with odd socks and odd shoes - not at the same time - but so far haven't gone out in my slippers.

It could be a sign of ageing, but more likely it's a sign of being super busy.

Do you remember a Christmas advert some years ago as the mother (40ish) is rushing round in a tizzy to get all the accoutrements to the Christmas lunch on the table while all the family sat around. The meal is on the table, she gives a sigh of relief and her husband looks at her and says something to the effect of 'The turkey? In all the rush that is the one thing she has forgotten and one was left to deduce that it hadn't even made it to the oven.

Lets face it people of all ages from 0 - 100 + do this. It is not a sign of aging (thank goodness)

You go out shopping and forget to put your denture in... OH blamed me as I'd 'rushed' him out of the house..

Went with DS2 to pick up his new car. Rummaging through (inspecting)the glove compartment, I said that they has not put in the owners manual folder. I volunteered to ring them before we had gone too far. I had just explained to the sales person when I realised I was sitting on it!

I thought the seat was a bit uncomfortable!

I have trained myself to get up from a chair without pushing with my hands, but I still grunt.

No chance for me either. Yes mrsmop, I do say that, but then I can't get up out of the armchair!
Won't tell you what I say then!

Put oven on for roast dinner, sometime later dished up the vegetables, opened oven to lift out leg of lamb......I hadn't put the joint in, it was still sitting in the fridge.

Family aren't going to let me live that down for some time.

Well if you're slipping I'm well and truly on the floor. I think that kind of thing can happen to anyone Sheena at any age. I'd say it's normal in fact! Unlike me, putting ice creams in the frig last week and then having to bin them.
