soop gave me a key so her you are, folks, the new extension. Plate of crumbly oatcakes on the side there with the coffee and tea pots.

Well the endoscopy was horrendously expensive, there were extra x-rays and medications. Didn't find anything conclusive so have to wait for the biopsies to be analysed. At least no obvious cancer, though they can't rule it out. The medications mean that he is managing to eat a little today. He is so sweet tempered when he must be in pain. If he has cancer then we are not operating, he is so underweight we can't see him recovering from an operation.

Alea - we don't have pet insurance, it works out too expensive for three dogs and have found in the past that they don't always pay out for everything. As he has not had anything wrong for 4 years it probably just about balances out.

MIL funeral is set for next week which means (bit of selfishness here) that I have to give Torres (yes, named after the footballer) his medications for three days and he is not cooperative. Unlike the eldest dog who has painkillers every day and just opens his mouth and swallows.

Our son has been sorting things out (death cert, funeral etc), he is being very good and making my OH feel guilty. He was very close to his Nan.

A great favourite of mine, ffinnochio. I always think of my late Nana when I see it. She would have a chunky stone vase filled with japonica and the perfume was, I seem to remember, like honey.

I've messed up another watercolour painting. Funny thing is, if I'm ever feeling under par, the painting goes rapidly downhill all the way. I shall do a few jobs aboot the hoos. Start afresh tomorrow.

ffinnochio Tue 19-Jan-16 18:24:39

Hope you perk up soon soop. It's generally no good doing anything requiring artistic talent if the vibes have gone awol. Paintbrush down and leave be for a while. Some sunshine for you.

Luckygirl Tue 19-Jan-16 22:00:49

Oh soop - please don't worry about the lack of inspiration with the painting. I write a lot of poetry and know that some days it is so easy and others it is as if I have never written anything before. I always walk away from it for a few days and it comes back again. The important thing is not to be put off from trying again!

Exhausting day here after looking after 8 month old all day for the first time - and his first time away from Mum. All went well I am glad to say. He is a very smiley chap!

soop Wed 20-Jan-16 14:36:12

Thank you for your kind words, ffinnochio

Luckygirl Well done! I used to take care of our youngest grandson on occasions. The very first time that he was left overnight with me was daunting. Yet, we coped. He was too was such a cheerful baby.

Have been back to see the GP. Another UTI! All tied up with cystocele and rectocele prolapse. Blood in urine plus other bugs. I last saw the specialist on November 11th. Doctor is to arrange another appointment asap. Yet more antibiotics...it's a buggeration.

soop Wed 20-Jan-16 14:37:03

Lucky apologies for errors. blush

thatbags Wed 20-Jan-16 15:10:10

Oh, soop, I'm sorry to hear about yet more UTI buggerations. No wonder your painting attempts are not pleasing you. I do hope the medication you've been given helps (a lot!) and that they can sort you out enough to avoid more infections. ☘?

ffinnochio Wed 20-Jan-16 15:49:17

soop I do hope you get an appointment very soon, and that these wretched infections get sorted pronto. flowers

Tizliz Wed 20-Jan-16 16:01:17

soop I hate antibiotics, you are up one minute and down the next. No wonder you can't concentrate.

soop Wed 20-Jan-16 17:19:33

bags ffinnochio and Tizliz The GP spoke to MacSporran this afternoon. He said that he's to contact the specialist by phone, not email, as he would also like the buggerations to be sorted. He did say that I may have to take on-going antibiotics until the next appointment. I KNOW darn well that there are Granspals who are facing and dealing with SERIOUS medical conditions. I feel rotten for belly-aching about mine. It seems so selfish. Forgive me. flowers

A lady from the village who suffered a massive stroke in early December, is being transferred to the care home today. I've an audio test booked for tomorrow morning. We're therefore doing Friday visit to the care home and weekly shop a day early. This means that I shall be popping in to catch up with you lovely lot early afternoon.

Group (((hugs))) for the sharing of. moon

Luckygirl Wed 20-Jan-16 17:34:18

Don't apologise for "belly-aching" (interesting choice of phrase!) - trouble with the urinary tract is totally miserable and really drags you down. I hope it will all be resolved soon.

numberplease Wed 20-Jan-16 17:56:32

As Luckygirl says, no need to apologise Soop. I suffered UTIs on a regular basis for years, and they`re misery making on a big scale! But now I`m on a permanent daily Nitrofurentoin capsule, I seem to be sorted, thank goodness. So I do hope that they can get you "sorted", and the sooner the better.

Alea Wed 20-Jan-16 18:06:07

Antibiotics are a boon and a blessing, but they don't all treat infections equally well. DH used to carry a supply of Ciproflora in as it is the only thing that would touch his liver infections but whenever he develops one, our local hospital tends start him on a broad spectrum a-b which never does the business and valuable time is lost.
Cipro is I believe one that doctors try to keep back as a "second line of attack" as bugs are developing resistance to the a-b's we used to rely on.
They can also make you feel absolutely wretched as of course so do continued infections. No wonder you have felt below par and the artistic muse has temporarily gone AWOL. It is an indication that you should be conserving your energy and getting BETTER. So no apologies, soop, I just hope you get the help, you need. Sometimes a long term a-b is the answer.
Grace herself has now been given a second a-b to supplement her Synulox as her wound was getting a little " whiffy" and she must need the extra "boost"
Nice new blue bandages on the little stumpy tail and her back legs where she has been "worrying" them don't really console her.
(PS*soop*, be grateful mcsporran doesn't make you wear a lampshade too!)

annodomini Wed 20-Jan-16 18:59:13

soop, don't apologise. UTIs are SO miserable. I used to have them quite often when I was younger. At the moment I have to take an antibiotic for six weeks to try to get rid of a chronic sinus infection and, if there were a choice, I'd chose that over cystitis! I hope the consultant will see you soon and propose a credible solution. flowers

Lona Wed 20-Jan-16 19:45:15

soop I haven't been around here much and I'm so sorry to read that you are suffering more 'buggerations'! As if you and MacS haven't got enough things to keep an eye on. Please feel free to belly-ache as much as you need to, whenever you feel ropey. Let's face it, there's no way you could kick the cat!! MacS would divorce you! grin

Bellanonna Wed 20-Jan-16 20:40:25

I'm sorry too, soop. I don't have them but DH does and they are frequent. He has one kidney, and had to have bladder removed, uses a pouch and is more vulnerable to these wretched things. He is currently on a different prophylactic - scaled down antibiotic taken daily - and I've got a spare course of a different one in case of an acute onset. He gets very down with them and I hate to see him like that. So lots of love and good wishes for your return to better health. This age thing is truly a buggeration.
Look after yourself.

Charleygirl Wed 20-Jan-16 21:26:23

I totally agree, that is awful soop- you must take your tablets and get better soon. Do you have to do that mound of ironing for that friend when you are not well yourself?

Alea it is quite a few days now since Grace's last surgery so her tail in theory should be healing but causing her a problem at the same time. I do feel so sorry for her. She must wonder if she will ever get rid of that awful lampshade.

Judthepud2 Wed 20-Jan-16 22:45:27

Oh Soop so sorry you haven't been well. UTI's are so horrible and make people feel washed out. I hope you begin to feel better soon. flowers

Alea Wed 20-Jan-16 22:54:07

It is indeed 8 days charleygirl, but this was a bigger amputation than the first (the tip) and it is being kept dressed, changing the dressing every 2-3 days. I expect she could be healing more slowly because of her age and of course the "wound" tends not to dry out as well as when it was open. TBH I think the first one should have been covered initially, and that it got infected and so the itching/pain caused her to do the damage. She somehow was able to nudge the tip even with the collar on, as it was still quite long It is also clear the little tinker can't be trusted as I left the lampshade off for half an hour or so yesterday (out of pity) and as soon as my back as turned she was having a go at one of her legs. Bad ?
A long tale of a (now much shorter) tail!

kittylester Thu 21-Jan-16 07:33:58

Just popped in to commiserate with your latest buggeration, soon. UTIs are one on the . Keep warm and rest as much as possible. brew

Take good care of Grace too, Alea

Bellasnana Thu 21-Jan-16 08:01:45

Dearest soop you are on my mind. So very sorry you are suffering. flowers

I'm not posting much lately due to plenty of buggerations of my own with which I do not wish to bore you all. angry

I do pop in for a quick lurk now and again and send my best wishes to all of you with or without buggerations grin

baubles Thu 21-Jan-16 09:29:26
