Are you a regular cinema goer? we only go about four times a year these days, but usually enjoy it so should go more.
What did you go and see last?We saw the latest Bond film ( Dh's choice.)

Freddy & Jason - Nightmare on Elm Street - so long ago can't quite remember when it was. I then won tickets to see 50 shades of Grey - terrible film such an abrupt ending and left disappointed. So glad I did not pay to watch this as I had enjoyed reading the books.

Eye in the Sky, wasn't expecting to laugh at such a fail, but there were laughs and everyone did. Sad because it was Alan Rickmans last film but made you think about the decisions that have to be made at high level and who actually makes them

Should say film not fail!

Our small local cinema is showing The Jungle Book but not in 3D. Should we go? I quite fancy it but wonder if we should make the effort to see it in 3D.

I refused to go with family to Hunger Games (saw first and hated it, so no point in wasting money and these days there's no way we can afford for all 4 to go, especially as we go to Imax in Manchester which means family meal, extra fares etc). Son is taking dad and me for birthday treat to see World of Warcraft film, since we're all fans of the game and play every day. Last year I went alone to see Jersey Boys which I loved, but I'm the only 4 Seasons fan, so again no point in family going! When I was younger went virtually every week, but then it was value for money - most films were U certificate and you got 2 for the price of 1. Now we watch films on TV (have Sky films sub) which suits us.

Here in Clacton it's £2.50, except Saturday nights when it's. £3.50, really good value.

The latest Star Wars. Had to see it, as have seen the three original ones about 40 times! My D.S. was, and still is ,a great fan.
I am crocheting him all the Star Wars characters at the moment. He's only 38!

Eddie the Eagle - I thoroughly enjoyed it, more than I expected to. It was a feelgood film, just what I needed that day...

Last week DH & I saw "Margeurite" - which is a French film, based on the story of Florence Foster Jenkins, the rich American socialite who couldn't sing, but thought she could.... We enjoyed it very much. (You need to be OK with subtitles though.) Coincidentally a USA film called "Florence Foster Jenkins" (starring Meryl Streep and Hugh Grant) is due out in May. (It's great to see that Meryl (born in 1949) gets to have Hugh (born 1960) as her love interest. A welcome change from the usual way around.) Here in Lancaster we have a great independent cinema called The Dukes. It always offers reductions for the over sixties and at least once a month there's a morning film preceded by free coffee and buns. It's a comfortable and friendly venue with no popcorn, bells, or whistles - oh joy.

Sounds good David the constant popcorn and hot dog chomping drives me crazy in the cinema ( buns may be quieter!) smile

Lady in the Van - brilliant!
Mr Turner - equally brilliant!

I hate the cinema, far too loud and crowded for my liking. I just watch film son the TV bit they have to be good to keep my attention.

The last film I saw at the cinema was Snatch 16 years ago at a guess, and I loved it.

NotTooOld Sun 24-Apr-16 17:26:51

David - the buns sound like an excellent idea.

NonnaAnnie - if you haven't been to the cinema for 16 years you really should try it again. I didn't go for several years either but when I started again I was so impressed by the quality of the film making, I thought it was just wonderful - still do, in fact. Give it another go, things have really moved on.

TyneAngel Sun 24-Apr-16 18:42:52

'Spotlight' - brilliant - wanted to stand up and cheer at the end.

Maggiemaybe Sun 24-Apr-16 18:51:33
