So Jane10 you would rather see police officers deployed on Royal security (guarding Eugenie!?)than patrolling the streets or solving crime? Of course they will not have been affected by the cuts in the police service Theresa May presided over as Home secretary. If we can't afford to properly police whole areas how the hell can we afford to protect the royal hangers on?

Do you seriously believe that if the money currently being spent on royal protection was instead used to improve police provision for ordinary people there would be no noticeable effect? Because certainly most of the police believe more money would improve things. But obviously you know better.

I would volunteer provided I could claim expenses. There are a number of re-enactment societies who would be really keen to get involved, however I suspect the Windsors will not get on board.

You could have look-alikes. That way, there could be several 'Royal' events going on in different locations!
